Six passengers are riding on the [[AfterlifeExpress train of afterlife]] as shadows of their former lives without names, memories, or even their body. As the player character moves around and exchanges thoughts with the other passengers, they realize that one of the other passengers is closely connect to them and their past that they can't recall.

Passengers can see visions of their past life using the tarot cards, but the truth they discover can be unpleasant. And there's the mystery of what their final destination is, as all that's known is that passengers disappear from the train after a certain amount of time.
