Moving to YMMV page.

* ObviousBeta: The original release was a notorious train wreck, with terrible connection issues and Game Breaking Bugs far beyond the normal birthing pains of an MMO, resulting in serious panning by reviewers. However, the devs worked overtime to iron things out, eventually winning AO multiple "most improved game" awards.
** The new graphics engine, finally released to the live servers, is this as well. It does help, however, that Funcom has clearly stated it's supposed to be a work in progress.

* GunsAkimbo: The Adventurer profession has the option to wield either two swords or two pistols as their WeaponOfChoice, and yes, this means the Adventurer also is lucky enough to have DualWielding, but not one gun with one sword ... yet!

Added DiffLines:

* AbsurdlyHighLevelCap: Subverted. While the game started out with a maximum level of 200 (later increased to 220 with Shadowlands) as compared to the usual number of 50 or 60 for such games, the experience needed per level was proportionally a lot shorter, meaning it was completely attainable for normal players.

* TheGhost: Anansi is implied to the big bad in Inferno, but he never shows up. Instead he just has a ton of spider-themed henchmen

* EverythingIsOnline: The Nano Controller Units every character has work this way. [=NCUs=] are critically important, since characters control their nanomachines through nano-programs active in the NCU's memory. Characters can also upload and execute nano-programs in others' [=NCUs=]--and hack the [=NCUs=] of their enemies to make their nanomachines execute harmful or debilitating nano-programs.

Video Game Settings is an index, not a trope. King Arthur isn't a trope. Commented out some zces.

* AncientKeeper: Ergo, Ergo, and yet again Ergo.
* ArmlessBiped: The Leets, though Penpods can also qualify.
* AppliedPhlebotinum: Notum, and in the Shadowlands Expansion, Novictum.

* Myth/KingArthur: Arthurian legend makes appearances, both on Rubi-Ka and in the Shadowlands.
** Some time after the second civil war on Rubi-Ka, Efen Christe bought substantial land from the Clans and used it to start his own clan--the Knights of Avalon, who dedicate themselves to reviving the old Earth traditions of chivalry. Everything about the Knights draws right from Arthurian Legend--they named their land Avalon, they built a modernized medieval village and castle (which they, of course, call Camelot), and all the prominent members have named themselves after Arthurian figures (with the Efen claiming the name "Lord Galahad"). As might be expected, all of the Knights use medieval-inspired armor and weapons. They even have their own genetically-engineered dragon!
** Much of the Shadowlands also have motifs that draw right from Arthurian legend, despite the fact that the events hinted at in various flavor texts happened at the very least several thousand years before Myth/KingArthur was around. Commonly drawn motifs are: Merlin, Arthur as the FisherKing, often hinted at as being the Beast, the final boss of the whole dimensional area you're in, and Lord Galahad and Lord Mordeth (Mordred) as the final leaders of the Redeemed and Unredeemed respectively before reaching the blasted, hellish area known as Pandemonium.
* LethalLavaLand: Inferno, an aptly-named area within the Shadowlands.

* VideoGameSettings: Each of the Shadowlands realms has a different theme
** Nascence is a GreenHillZone like area (although the northeast corner of it is more like a swamp), fittingly, it is the first and lowest Shadowland (meant for level 1-50)
** Elysium is more of a PalmtreePanicZone, it's similar in appearance to Nascence but sunnier, and has a beach and ocean at the brink (although walking far enough out into the ocean makes you fall down to Rubi-Ka
** Scheol starts out as a half-assed DarkWorld, but turns into an UndergroundLevel in the northern (higher level) half
** Adonis is a combination of UnderTheSea and UnderwaterRuins as the above water areas are still rather watery, in addition to having a bunch of ruins
** Penumbra is a SlippySlideyIceworld
** Inferno is a LethalLavaLand
** Pandemonium is the hardest to pin down, but seems like a combination of ancient ruins and FloatingContinent (although it's technically just a few islands with ancient buildings on them, rather than a full-continent.

* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: Leets were designed for this, despite also being a TakeThat to certain types of players as a form of SmallAnnoyingCreature. Their sound files in AOs directories are even labeled with the prefix "cute." Over the years [=FunCom=] has put less emphasis on the mocking aspect: dozens of unique Leets have turned up, as well as Leet [=NPCs=] which can carry on conversations, albeit in cutesy kitty pidgin.
