* ArtisticLicenseGeography: Played for laughs. A map in one of the classrooms shows a map of "Yurup", with countries such as [[HornyVikings "Vikings"]] (Scandinavia), [[{{Oktoberfest}} "Beer"]] (Germany and Austria), and [[GloriousMotherRussia "Commie Bears"]] (Russia and neighbors).

* ExtremeOmnisexual: By the end of the game, the player character can have sex with anyone from his classmates (including, if the player chooses so, a transgirl) to his middle-aged landlady[[note]]Safest to call her that, although from some angles you can see what might be a family resemblence; she's certainly got motherly feelings for him, in the same way Jocasta had for [[Theatre/OedipusTheKing Oedipus]][[/note]] to an anthropomorphic (literal) cow girl and a mermaid.

* TeenPregnancy: MC can impregnate several of his classmates[[note]]well OK, curently just Eve and even that's only if [[spoiler:she's not a transgirl]], but more are expected to be added later[[/note]], making them mothers while they're still in high school.

* TransTribulations: If the player chooses for [[spoiler:Eve]] to be a transgirl. Part of the reason why she's so withdrawn, besides holding herself accountable for [[spoiler:the death of her parents]] because of PartingWordsRegret, is because she doesn't think anyone would accept her as she identifies. After hitting it off with the MC, she realizes she was BeautifulAllAlong.

** You're given the option to force Roxxy to give you her lollipop, suck on it, and then return it to her in exchange for letting her copy your homework. [[KickTheSonOfABitch It's justified in this case]], since Roxxy had previously been bragging about throwing a girl's retainer in a toilet.

* AlphaBitch: Roxxy starts out as this, though she gets better with CharacterDevelopment. Jenny [[HiddenDepths mostly]] plays it straight, being a former cheerleader with an oversized ego who acts like she's above everyone around her with the exception of Jane and Debbie, although [[BirdsOfAFeather she quickly takes a shine to Roxxy when they meet]].

* RuleSixtyThree: There's quite a bit of fan-art depicting the male MC as a girl. Basically, he looks like like a younger, more cheerful Jenny.

''Summertime Saga'' is an HGame that is currently being developed in UsefulNotes/RenPy since 2016. It is perhaps the world's most elaborate DatingSim, encompassing more than sixty-five characters, more than thirty locations, and more than twenty mini-games. It was created by [=DarkCookie=] for Kompas Productions and is funded entirely by Patreon backers who presently number more than 18,000.

** If you get on the player's PC, he has [[GameWithinAGame a copy of Summertime Saga on his desktop]] which you can run. The first time you click after trying to start a new game, however, it generates a Ren'Py uncaught exception error screen and crashes, prompting the player to complain that [[ObviousBeta the game is always full of bugs]].

** MC's classmates Chad, Tyrone, and Chico are referencing an internet meme about [[TheAce absurdly idealized men]] (see for examples ''WebOriginal/VirginVsChad'').

* CaptainErsatz: Miss Ross is a {{gender flipped}} version of Creator/BobRoss.

* [[CreepyUncle Strange Aunt]]: This was part of the the original conception of ''Summertime Saga'', until Patreon objected to the direction the dating sim was taking; the Main Character makes money to buy goods and services by working on the small farm owned by a character who began as Aunt Diane. Aunt Diane expresses an ''interest'' in the MC, part of a theme in the game that caused Patreon to threaten to close the account, until all incest storylines were expurgated from the game. Diane is now a completely unrelated person and is merely a friend of the MC's former mother (now "landlady"), and no longer her twin sister. The incredible physical similarity between Diane and Debbie is an amazing coincidence which is not mentioned in the game notes.

** MC's classmates Chad, Tyrone, and Chico are referencing an internet meme about absurdly idealized men (see for examples ''WebOriginal/VirginVsChad'').

* NonstandardGameOver: More like the only way for the game ‘’to’’ be over, also serving as a massive MoodWhiplash: if you lose the fight with [[spoiler: Dimitri in the warehouse]], right at the game’s climax, he will ‘’stab and kill’’ the MC, leading to a slow fade to black and taking the player back to the menu.

* ArtisticLicenseBiology: Diane's milk business' output is rather exaggerated.

* ADateWithRosiePalms: The Main Character can rub one out in his bedroom while fantasizing about various girls from the town, a list that keeps growing as the game goes on.
