Given that [[spoiler: the piece of Vectron]] you speak with refers to [[spoiler: the scrapper "zombie" army]] when you free it, it's implied she was intentionally given the technology.

** Played completely straight in the Steamworld universe. Killed steambots are "scrapped". This is semi-justified since it's completely possible to reassemble a scrapped bot. And it's even implied that well-maintained bots can live for centuries. On the other hand not all scrapped bots get reassembled, it's entirely possible for them to be permanently dead. This is especially apparent in Heist where your entire crew is scrapped in the cold-open. And it's very clear that they're dead for real. [[spoiler: Well, unless the scrappers got to them...]].

* NiceJobBreakingItHero: The Queen had [[spoiler: Vectron]] packed away safely until Piper [[spoiler:set it loose]].

* SealedEvilInACan: What came out of that ancient capsule the crew wanted to steal from the Queen. [[spoiler: Vectron is old enough to remember when the Earth broke up, and it's quite dedicated to resuming its quest to destroy all steambots.]]

* NiceHat: The game's obsession with equippable hats is on par with Videogame/TeamFortress2.

** Aside from the regular [[NiceHat Top hat]] there's one that says it makes you feel like a [[VideoGame/ProfessorLayton Gentleman]].

* FilkSong: Music/SteamPoweredGiraffe can be seen in the game's various bars, performing music composed uniquely for the game. There are also special songs for when you defeat a zone boss.
