* NotHisSled: Every mystery will have the gang having to gather clues to identify which of the three suspects is disguising themselves as a ghost. While the Ghost of Elias Kingston, the Space Kook, and the Ghost of Redbeard have their respective true identities from ''WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooWhereAreYou'' (Stuart Weatherby, a {{Gender Flip}}ed Henry Bascombe named Henrietta Bascombe, and C.L. Magnus) as suspects, the actual identity of the disguised criminal in the first four cases is randomized, so fans expecting the ghost's true identity from the original show to be the guilty party might be caught off-guard by having one of the other culprits determined guilty by the assembled clues and unmasked after the disguised criminal is captured.

!! This game provides examples of the following tropes:
* BigBad: The Ghost Hunter Haunter, who has apparently menaced the Ghost Scene Investigation team in the past and is now setting his sights on the Scooby Gang. [[spoiler:He turns out to be the show's producer Mace Middlemost.]]
* FinalBoss: The final boss is the Ghost Hunter Haunter, insofar that the minigame of luring the costumed criminal into three traps at the end of every level can be considered a boss fight.
* NotHisSled: Every mystery will have the gang having to gather clues to identify which of the three suspects is disguising themselves as a ghost. * TeamPet: The Ghost Scene Investigation team have a robot cat named Catscan serve as their equivalent to Scooby-Doo.
* TokenMinority: Monty Caswell is the only black member of the Ghost Scene Investigation team.
