Extended the incredibly barebones character page with what I could find on the main page, moving stuff over to reduce redundancy. (NOTE: have not played the mod myself so could not add any info, just transfer it)

* ContrastingSequelProtagonist: Boyfriend and Girlfriend from the original game are {{Fearless Fool}}s who get into all sorts of extreme danger but are too dense to recognize it and see everything as fun rap battles. Salty and Itsumi, on the other hand, aren't in any immediate danger in any of their encounters, but are genuinely fighting to liberate their and everyone else's souls from Daddy Dearest's clutches. Not to mention, they ''aren't'' in a committed relationship, if only because Itsumi's a {{Kuudere}} and Salty lacks the confidence to confess, leaving their otherwise mutual feelings unrequited.
* ContrastingSequelAntagonist:
** Daddy Dearest and Mommy Mearest are aggressive and actively dedicated to throwing wrenches into their daughter's relationship. In contrast, Itsumi's parents (or rather, [[ReplacementGoldfish what Opheebop thinks they are]]) are emotional wrecks that genuinely can't handle the stress of the former's singing to the point where the replacement song for "Fresh" actually has Itsumi's father step back, thus leaving the mic to his daughter.
** The Monster is a SoftSpokenSadist obsessed with eating people. Opheebop, on the other hand, genuinely wants what's best for the people she has to control, and has to struggle with the idea that freeing them, which she wants to do, requires a human sacrifice.
** Skid and Pump regularly dabbled in the supernatural without a care in the world. Hunter and Ava, however, have their supernatural condition forced on them for [[HeKnowsTooMuch stepping too close to the veil]].
** Pico is a hitman who was ordered to kill Boyfriend, but decided to rap instead since he found that more embarrassing. Connor is instead on the defense, thinking Salty is too crazy of a person for his sister Itsumi. This is even represented in their choice of equipment: Pico has an Uzi, while Connor carries a riot shield.
** Spirit is a being with an unknown past with Daddy Dearest who was sealed inside of the dating sim character Senpai. Glitch (aka Wyatt) got turned into the mascot on his original form's T-Shirt as a result of attempting to resist the machine's power. After losing the first two battles with Salty, he transforms into just a floating head. He also acts the opposite of Senpai, in that he starts out a bit abrasive, but then mellows out as opposed to starting out nice but then becoming a jerk.

In the late 20th century, a derelict arcade cabinet owned by Daddy Dearest slowly began to accumulate victims by contracting the ([[ContrastingSequelAntagonist reluctant]]) soul-manipulating monster known as Opheebop, stripping their memories and dumping them into a LotusEaterMachine. Life's alright, pleasant even, in the cabinet, but Opheebop can only do so much to provide for them without taking anything in return, and the cabinet's derelict nature means it can only be fully active every Sunday night. Not to mention, one of the victims seems to have gone missing trying to pierce through the veil...

Enter [[ProtagonistTitle Salty]] and his girlfriend Itsumi, the most recent of the people abducted by the arcade cabinet. When his memories suddenly return to him one day, he decides take Itsumi and fight his way out in the ways of the ''Friday Night Funkin''' universe: by challenging the other inhabitants and eventually the system itself to a rap battle.

''[[https://gamebanana.com/mods/43252 Salty's Sunday Night]]'' is a ''VideoGame/FridayNightFunkin'' GameMod created by [[https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChHjYexvSoXWB-1pfMnFfcQ Tsuraran]], advertised as a complete overhaul as it replaces all songs up to Week 6 with its own compositions, characters, and story.

At the end of Week 6 of the original game, Spirit mentions others like him, trapped in video games by Daddy Dearest forever and searching for ways to escape. [[DownerBeginning This mod expands on what he was talking about, and it's not very hopeful at first]].

An officially-sanctioned AlternateUniverse called ''Peppered'' is currently in development, which alters all of the character designs and replaces the songs [[SerialEscalation once more]] with remixes and alternate compositions.

** The colors of the base game's notes are incorporated into some of the characters' singing: Itsumi's voice modulator, Connor's visor, Salty's afterimage in Week 4, and the reflection in ''his'' visor in Week 5 all change colors depending on what note they're hitting.
** The sound for missing in the base game is a record scratch. During Week 5, Itsumi is managing a DJ's table instead of sitting on a speaker system, and missing has her cut out the record she's holding in time.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: The mod takes place parallel to the original game, with the protagonist leading his narrative through a plot thread alluded to by Spirit but never expanded on.
* LivingShadow: Opheebop is a shadow in the shape of an overly-simplistic humanoid mass that continuously flickers in her idle and singing animations.
