''Roadkill'' is a VehicularCombat game developed and published by Creator/MidwayGames in 2003 for the UsefulNotes/XBox, UsefulNotes/PlayStation2 and UsefulNotes/NintendoGameCube. [[JustForFun/XMeetsY It combined]] ''VideoGame/TwistedMetal''-style combat with a ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAuto-''like free-roaming mission structure. It featured a rockin' soundtrack of both real and written-for-the game songs, and four-player split-screen multiplayer.

* FlatCharacter: The Gauchos and the Dreg Lords recieve the least characterization of any of the gangs. Pretty much all we know about the Gauchos is they wear funny hats, act like Hispanic stereotypes and suck lugnuts out of tires with straws (?!?!). The Dreg Lords get even less than that, their only defining traits being that they look mean and sometimes have grim, raspy voices and other times have joke voices.

* AllThereInTheManual: Quite literally. The game manual contains bits of lore not explored in the full game, such as Mason's backstory before the apocalypse and how he ended up with the Sentinels, facts about the three cities, and the name of the big desert Mason was driving around in at the start of the game ("Python Canyon.") There's also tiny details that are only alluded to by lines of dialogue in the cutscenes and radio.

* CarFu: An effective way to deal with enemy infantry. [[VideoGameCrueltyPotential Plus, they say]] [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments hilarious things when you do it.]]

* DisposableSexWorker: Unfortunately, these are about the only female characters this game has. Besides the wife of one of the radio gun show hosts who likes to [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments take a flamethrower and...]] [[ThatCameOutWrong Nevermind.]]

* DirtyCop: The Sentinels serve as the police force. They're little more then gangsters in [[WeaponizedCar Weaponized Cop Cars.]]

* ExpositoryThemeTune: In addition to being SugarWiki/{{Awesome|Music}}, many of the Fuzz Brothers songs describe the backstory and the CrapsackWorld.

* ImprobableWeaponUser: During one of the interviews with [[FakeBand the Fuzz Brothers]], it's mentioned that their drummer beat a former bandmate to death ''[[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments with a pancake.]]''

* ActionGirl: Not present in the cutscenes or the gangs, but many of the drivers trying to blow you up are women. Several women on the radio also revel in blowing things up and getting into fights. The Co-Host of GearTalk radio, Mike, reminisces about how his elderly mother used to be a gang member, and how his wife used a landmine to keep him from sneaking out at night to drink.

* Improv: According to WordOfGod, the majority of the comedic segments on the talk radio stations were mostly improved and ad-libbed by the actors from a local improv comedy group.

* NoodleIncident: On Gear Talk Radio, Frank and Vinny offer a coupon for [[BlandNameProduct What-A-Snatch-Burger]] as a prize, a fast food place that Frank is apparently banned from. He claim he can't talk about it for legal reasons, only mentioning that they said he was "obscene to the mayonaise" (explicitly *to*, not *with*) and that he thought the donkey was fully sanctioned and licensed. [[Squick It's probably for the best we don't know the whole story.]]

[[AlternateHistory In the 1980s]], [[TheVirus a deadly plague]] known as The Rot struck the world, [[ApocalypseHow killing untold millions and bringing society to its knees]]. An unspecified time later, the world is divided up into isolated pockets of [[WretchedHive "civilization"]] separated by vast wasteland. The game focuses on three small cities located relatively close to one another: Lava Falls, Blister Canyon and [[Music/GunsNRoses Paradise City.]] You play the role of [[TestosteronePoisoning Mason]] [[AwesomeMcCoolName Strong]], professional tough guy. Some years prior, he helped a man named Axl and his gang, the Sentinels, take control of Paradise City and drag it screaming out of tribalism into something resembling a functioning society. They had a falling out, and Mason was LeftForDead. [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge Now he's back for revenge.]]

** South League: [[JerkJock Hard-partying football players.]] Their leader is the coach. [[BaldBlackLeaderGuy Comes off as the most competent gang leader.]]

* TheVirus: The Rot. It's mostly a BackStory point, though. By the time the game takes place it's already run it's course.
