''Resurgence of the Storm'' is a GameMod for ''VideoGame/StarCraftII'' aiming to recreate ''VideoGame/HeroesOfTheStorm'' within the [=StarCraft Arcade=]. The main goal of the project is to reignite the excitement of new content and balance changes that has been missing ever since [=HotS=] was taken off active development, while offering new playable characters as well as alternative talent trees and even new abilities for old heroes. The mod has been in development since 2020 and was first publicly released on New Years Day in 2024.

The mod currently features a small roster of playable characters, some taken from the original game and others unique to the mod:[[note]]These are marked with a *[[/note]]

* '''Melee Assassins:''' Kerrigan, Selendis*
* '''Ranged Assassins:''' Falstad, Jaina, Tychus
* '''Tanks:''' Arthas, Diablo, E.T.C.
* '''Bruisers:''' Artanis, Ragnaros, Talandar*
* '''Healers:''' Anduin, Auriel, Malfurion
* '''Supports:''' Abathur

The mod is free to download as long as you own ''[=StarCraft=] II''. There is no matchmaking yet, however there is dedicated Looking For Group section of the mod's Discord where players can host and join matches. The mod's release trailer can be found [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJqbwHHj6Wc here.]]

!!''Resurgence of the Storm'' contains examples of:

* AdaptationDistillation: In addition to having a much smaller hero pool (15, down from 90), the mod lacks some of the features from ''Heroes of the Storm'' that can't be replicated in the [=StarCraft=] Arcade like quick-release casting or some unportable models like XP globes. It's also no surprise that both new heroes and one upcoming original hero come from [=StarCraft=], since it's much easier to use models from that game rather than try to create new ones for other games from scratch.
* BoringButPractical: Compared to Talandar or the reworked Arthas, Selendis doesn't have a very flashy kit. However, she is a high-damage mobile melee assassin, which is pretty much exactly what you need her to be.
* DivergentCharacterEvolution: Some of the ported heroes have new or altered talents, which provide new gameplay options that weren't present on their original kits. Arthas is the most extreme, getting a full rework that removed Frostmourne Hungers and Army of the Dead from his kit, moved Frozen Tempest to his trait and made it permanently active instead of a toggle, made Icebound Fortitude his new E, and added Remorseless Winter as a new heroic that temporarily empowers Frozen Tempest.
* DoubleMeaningTitle: ''Resurgence of the Storm'' doesn't just refer to the mod being a return to new content for ''Heroes of the Storm'', but is also based on a [[https://heroesofthestorm.fandom.com/wiki/Resurgence_of_the_Storm generic talent]] that was removed from the game which allowed heroes to revive faster.
* FlyingFirepower: Selendis has a mothership hovering in the atmosphere above her, which she uses to call down an X-shaped beam attack for her Q and pull a GunshipRescue with her Golden Armada heroic.
* InjuredVulnerability: Selendis' Decisive Blow deals more damage the more injured her target is.
* InNameOnly: The ported version of Dragon Shire has nothing to do with the map of the same name from ''Heroes''. It's based on the tutorial map, and as such has only two lanes, no keeps, and has no map gimmick.
* MechanicallyUnusualClass:
** Abathur returns from ''Heroes'', still the same bizarre MissionControl character that he was before.
** Talandar is on two fronts: He doesn't use mana, instead using a resource called Energy. Unlike the Energy used by characters like Valeera and Deathwing however, Talandar only holds 3 Energy, which he consumes one at a time as he casts abilities. He can also cast abilities without any Energy at all, but his abilities are more powerful for each Energy he currently holds. Energy can be recovered by channeling his 1 ability. Talandar also has access to three different Heroics instead of two, and unlike Varian these do not alter his base stats nor do they come earlier than level 10. He just has an extra heroic option.
* OriginalFlavor: The mod is extremely faithful to the look and feel of ''Heroes of the Storm''. You would never be able to tell that this wasn't the original game just from gameplay alone. The new heroes also feel right at home with the ported ones, having skills that feel properly unique and fun.
* TransformingMecha: Downplayed with Talandar. He doesn't transform for most of his abilities, however he does transform into a laser cannon when he uses Purification.
* WaveMotionGun: One of Talandar's heroics lets him transform into a massive laser gun that fires downwards and deals heavy damage to enemies beneath him.
