* MagikarpPower: [[InvokedTrope Invoked]] by the Proving Grounds field effect. It centers around building up [[GatheringSteam "Breakthrough Points"]], and reaching 10 causes the next attack to become an ArmorPiercingAttack if the target is above 1/3 max HP. Additionally, it provides some offensive and defensive bonuses to Pokemon that are not fully evolved.

* AthleticArenaLevel: Algol Arena, a stadium in the Entertainment District. It houses things like a (currently inaccessible) pool, an ice rink, a rock climbing wall and more. It's stated to be the designated arena of [[BlowYouAway Flying type League Leader Gail]], and it's also [[spoiler: where you finally battle Ariella for her badge]].

* DroughtLevelOfDoom: Flegetont is a variant of this, as it centers around starting a new team. Your only resources are those you find in Flegetont itself, and you're only allowed 1 PC Box. [[spoiler: It's actually [[JustifiedTrope justified]] in that you just got out of a 9-month coma, and Zain wants to see that you're able to handle yourself, the whole thing serving as a sort of physical exam for you.]]

* GreenHillZone: Flegetont is primarily this, with some [[UndergroundLevel caves]] mixed in. In a twist on the usual formula, you don't go there until much later in the game.

** The first half of Chapter 11 [[spoiler: puts you through a dream sequence, which reveals various happenings before the game starts, and climaxes with Octavius presenting you with the choice to give up your Time Regalia, which potentially strips you of your ability to save, forcing you to rely on special machines from that point on to save your game. And when you wake up, you learn from Morgan that you've been stripped of all your Pokemon, items, badges, and money, forcing you to start the next area, Flegetont, with a new team.]]

** In Flegetont, you'll need Cult Cash, Fissure Fragments, Four-Leaf Clovers, and Treasure Maps for certain tasks, though in some cases, you can instead offer a Charcadet, Spheal, or Cacnea.

** Chapter 11 gives us yet another in [[spoiler: a rematch with Stone. Similarly to the Arthur instance above, he isn't aware you're vastly underlevelled to face his usual team, and if you fail to beat him then, he'll switch to a team more lower-levelled to fight you on even footing. That said, if you do manage to beat his overlevelled team, he'll reward you with a Druddite.]]

** The player themselves can nab some of these if they've been keeping a close eye out for the secret quests. Specifically, [[spoiler: Phione, Thermolt (a Heatran pre-evolution), Poipole, Kubfu, Calyrex, one of the Regis, and one of the Lake Trio.]]
