Changing it to Hell ends up opening up a plothole about why heroic characters like [[spoiler:Elrica were sent to Hell instead of being in Limbo]].

** The villains of each arc have their first initials almost spell out "Octopath"; [[spoiler:The first "O" ends up being Or-Sazantos.]]

* EvolvingTitleScreen: The blue flame in the title screen drastically shrinks after the completion of the ''Master of All'' arc. After the start of ''Bestower of All'', [[spoiler:the title screen turns black and the sacred flame is replaced with purple accurst flame]]. During ''Bestower of All'' Chapter VII, [[spoiler: the title screen goes completely white, and the flame is absent]].

* WellIntentionedExtremist: While Tytos pursues overwhelming power and not only uses drugs that make people monsters, his ultimate goal is to amass enough power to eliminate the Southern Tribes once and for all to protect Orsterra, who had previously attacked and caused alot of chaos in the land.

* CombatHandFan: The dancer's job can only equip fans as a weapon. How such ''[[BellyDancer travelers]]'' survive using them against monsters is anybody's question.[[note]]One character quest explains that they are used to distract enemies.[[/note]]

** Hunters use [[ArcherArchetype bows]].

* DevelopersForesight: Anytime during the main story or a Travelers Story the player interacts with a character from the original ''Octopath Traveler'', if your first unit happens to one of the playable units from said game, and they are interacting with someone they know but otherwise shouldn't be meeting due to the story events of the first game, the game will instead select your second unit to maintain continuity. For example: If you have Primrose as your first unit during the "Master of Fame" story section where you run into Simeon, it will swap her out because she mentions having not seen him in years in the original game, and similarly if you do Lars' Travelers Story with Olberic as your first unit, it swaps him out, because a big part of Olberic's story is searching for Erhardt, who Lars' true identity.

** Nier, Kainé, and Emil from ''VideoGame/NierReplicant'' can be summoned as travelers, and Grimoire Weiss was added as a keeper.

** You can also summon Edea & Agnès from ''VideoGame/BravelyDefault'' and ''VideoGame/BravelySecond'' alongside Elvis & Adelle from ''VideoGame/BravelyDefaultII''.

** Additionally, 2B, A2, and 9S from the game, ''VideoGame/NierAutomata'', can be summoned as travelers.

* GameplayAndStorySegregation: Despite the fact that Herminia's Manse burns down at the end of the Master of Wealth arc, it still remains an explorable location afterwards.

* LaResistance: One forms in the town of Sufurarusha to overthrow the monarchy forcing them into slave-like conditions. Spearheading its charge is [[RebelLeader Oskha]] who employs some violent methods to overthrow the leadership of the town. Tired of being treated like slaves in the middle of a desert, the people of the town seem all too eager to join.

* OffWithHisHead:[[spoiler:When Elrica is executed by her father, this is how she dies.]]

The game also draws inspiration is ''VideoGame/AnotherEden'', borrowing that game's [[LootBoxes gacha mechanics]], minimap design, SkillScoresAndPerks system and focus on a single-player J/RPG experience for mobile devices.

** Related to the above, the NoticeThis items the player can find in towns will sometimes change to reflect the story progress, so the player can get a few gear materials from the newest dungeon over the previous one. The issue is that the game doesn't tell the player that at all, or which cities do so. For instance: The items found in Sufrataljah are for the dungeon located in the city, but after beating the "Bestower of Wealth" story, the items update to items from the Golden Place instead, something not told to the player.

** Those who ingest the Scarlet Elixir turn into these. While a person can delay the effects of turning into one through HeroicWillpower , they cannot avoid turning into one unless they die before the drug takes effect.

* BackgroundMusicOverride: The battles you get into as part of the VideoGame/BravelyDefault collaboration event play the battle themes from those games instead of the regular battle music.

* BigFancyHouse: Herminia lives in one which overlooks the rest of Valore. The Chosen One is first "invited" [[note]] In actuality, Tiziano stole the invitation off of gang members the Chosen One fought. [[/note]] into it along with the rest of [[TheMafia Bargello's gang]], but then must infiltrate the manse later on in the Master of Wealth story.

** [[spoiler:After finding Rinyuu in the mountains and stopping Jurgen from killing her, Jurgen rushes at Velnorte [[SuppressedRage in a fit of rage]] in an attempt to shove him off of the nearby cliff face. While Velnorte is able to stand ground, the resulting struggle incidentally pushes Rinyuu off of the cliff. While in the struggle, Velnorte is [[TitleDrop forced to watch]] as the love of his life plummets to her death.]] [[note]] [[spoiler:In actuality, Rinyuu managed to survive the fall and was nursed back to health by a passing hunter, although Velnorte wouldn't come to know this for quite some time.]] [[/note]]

** [[spoiler: Elrica's]] DuelBoss against [[spoiler: King Pardis]], despite [[spoiler:her]] best efforts, is unable to be won. After breaking [[spoiler: Pardis']] Shield, he restores it to an unbreakable amount, and then promptly defeats [[spoiler: Elrica]].
** The battle against the horde of Edoras soldiers at [[spoiler: Elrica's execution]] is unwinnable. While the player can win the first round, they are forced into fight after fight until getting enemies likely way higher than your party's current level, which usually results in the soldiers wiping your party out. [[note]] If that doesn't happen, the battle automatically ends after a set number of turns. [[/note]]
** The battles against Empress Tatloch and the G'rohan soldiers in the prologue of Bestower of Power are unwinnable due to her constantly [[spoiler: sacrificing her own soldiers to heal herself]].

** [[spoiler:This is also implied to be the case for Sazantos's mother, Farame, as the Church wanted her to bear a child capable of wielding the sacred flame.]]

* InTheHood: The Bestower of Fame is primarily depicted wearing a purple full-bodied cloak that hides their identity until [[TheReveal it's revealed]].

** In addition to Herminia being called the Godmother by her family and surrounding ones, the Chosen One joins the Bargello family (headed by the titular Bargello), who is, in turn, a subordinate group of [[TheDon Lord Taviani]]. Fittingly, Lord Taviani is directly under the command of Herminia.

** Oskha [[spoiler:is the one who gave Herminia her God Ring as part of his plan to prove that wealth and power inevitably corrupt anyone who has them.]]

* MeaningfulFuneral: [[spoiler:When Sonia is killed, the New Mafia throws a funeral for her atop the cliff where she and Bargello planned out their grape heists when they were children.]] [[spoiler:The New Mafia also throws a funeral for Tiziano in the same location to an even bigger crowd of people when he passes away.]]

** [[spoiler: Castle Edoras]] is only explorable during the finale of ''Master of All''. Should the player miss clearing out the enemies and getting all the chests/items, it is impossible to get them again. At the very least, later events allow the player to complete the quests relating to killing enemies.

* PreAsskickingOneLiner: Eltrix gives a pretty good one before fighting the [[spoiler: Souls Sazantos summoned in the ''Bestower of All'' prologue]].

** [[spoiler:In the Master of Fame storyline, Schwartz reveals that he's actually Auguste and has been manipulating the Chosen One from the very beginning as an elaborate plot to kill them. While posing as Schwartz, Auguste had his most devout follower pose as himself in order to not arouse suspicion for his would-be disappearance. This works so well that the Chosen One ends up killing the follower before Schwartz even reveals himself as the real Auguste and transforms into his ring form.]] [[spoiler:However, at the end, it's revealed that Auguste actually wanted TheChosenOne to kill ''[[SuicideByCop him]]''.]]
** [[spoiler:In the Master of All plotline, three separate {{King Incognito}} moments happen in varying succession from one another. Trompeur turns out to be King Solon in disguise, El is secretly Princess Elrica, and Charles is actually Prince (later King) Richard.]]

** The Church of the [[SelfDemonstratingArticle ''Sacred Flame'']] has many ties to sacred fires and holy flames. Even their primary deity of worship, Aelfric the ''Flamebringer'', is represented by a bright, blue flame. Things of worship such as Aelfric's Lanthorn and the First Flame also point towards the presence of divine fire.
** Sazantos can cause a blue flame to materialize from him or around his weapons as a testament to his faith in Aelfric and as his position of Flameguard of the God Rings. As demonstrated on a Black Scarlet assassin, this flame is deadly.

** [[spoiler:Jurgen attempts to carry one out against Tytos, although [[RedeptionEqualsDeath he's unable to take down his target]].]]

* WeHardlyKnewYe: [[spoiler:Pathos and Apatheia are introduced as being a part of the tribe that protected the God Rings for centuries. They also are some of the only humans capable of sealing away the God Rings and their powers.]] As such, one would think they would have amazing combat abilities. Of course, you'd be wrong since they die almost immediately after you meet them by being murdered by [[spoiler:Gonska]].[[spoiler:Though they are later revealed to be alive and are eventually joined by three other members of their tribe.]]

** Fujin and Raijin, twin archers competing in the Ri'tu Cup, are named after the brother gods of wind and thunder from Myth/JapaneseMythology.

* SirSwearsalot: In comparison to the other characters of the game, Tiziano uses a bit more vulgar language than his compatriots. This is noted in his tendency to swear and his usage of various innuendos in his casual speech.

* {{Hellfire}}: Galdera's Accurst Flame, which glows a dark purple in contrast to the bright blue SacredFlames.

* MoodWhiplash: The Master of Fame storyline begins with this. At first, the Chosen One happens to go to Theatropolis' theater and meets a lovestruck woman who's too nervous to deliver a love letter to Auguste. After agreeing to deliver it on her behalf, the Chosen One accidentally witnesses Auguste choking an actress to death in front of his CultOfPersonality.

** Some [=NPCs=] can only be interacted with after ''Master of All'' but before the Bestower arcs.

* BagOfSharing: The materials you sell are accessible from blacksmiths in every town, including from Kota in the Nameless Town the moment he moves in.

* TheManBehindTheMan: The ''Bestower of'' story is focused around this trope, hence the name. Each of them focus on revealing who was behind the "Master of" foes and how they became able to achieve results. The only one not to have a follow-up is ''Master of Fame''. For specifics:
