** Some of the taunts have references:

*** The taunt "friendly" is based on the popular crouch-punch signal from ''VideoGame/{{Minecraft}}'', including identical animations.

Survival earns the player points, which in turn earn the player Nextbux, a currency which can be used to buy cosmetics and power-ups in the in-game shop. Power-ups, while usually limited, can provide advantages against the nextbots and change how the game plays.

Nico's Nextbots is a ''VideoGame/{{Roblox}}'' game created by nicopatty and released on July 4th, 2022. The game's basic gameplay revolves around nextbots, a basic form of [=NPC=] originally created for ''VideoGame/GarrysMod''. Nextbots, in a nutshell, are [=2D NPCs=] that directly chase towards the player at a fast speed, and when they reach a player, they instantly kill them. The main goal is to evade them as long as possible, as they chase players around the map, while random events can be thrown into the mix.

To do this, the game allows for various movement techniques such as sliding, bunny hopping, and door-slamming throughout the map to gain an advantage against the nextbots. The game has three main gamemodes:

* ''Arcade'': A round-based timed gamemode where players compete to get the most points, with the top three earning Nextbux. It features various maps players can vote between.

* ''Open World:'' The game's original gamemode. It features a large interconnected map the player can traverse and explore. The goal is for the player to survive as long as they can while endlessly being chased by the nextbots, due to the lack of a time limit.

* ''Social Space:'' A nextbot-less gamemode where the player can socialize, explore the map, and practice the game's mechanics in a safe environment.

Survival earns the player points, which in turn earn the player Nextbux, a currency which can be used to buy cosmetics and power-ups in the in-game shop. Power-ups, while usually limited, can provide advantages against the nextbots and change how the game plays.

!!nico's tropes:
* AlliterativeTitle: '''n'''ico's '''n'''extbots.
* AllLowercaseLetters: Pretty much all of the game's text is stylized like this, including the game's logo (though this could be a MythologyGag to the lowercase logo of ''Garry's Mod'').
* EvolvingTitleScreen: An unusual variation. The game's title changes reflecting on where in the menu the player is. On the title screen, it reads the usual "nico's nextbots", when selecting a gamemode, it reads "nico's mode selection", in the shop, it reads "nico's shop", and in the inventory, it reads "nico's inventory".
* MythologyGag: Being based on a gamemode for ''VideoGame/GarrysMod'', it includes plenty of references to its source material:
** The game's title is one, due to the all-lowercase Helvetica text, and the green "n" icon resembling [=GMod=]'s blue "g" icon.
** The maps in game are all referred to by the prefix ''nn_'' (for example, nn_mall or nn_russia), referencing how maps are referred to in the files of Source games, and on the map selection screen in ''Garry's Mod''.
** In general, a lot of the game's models are from the game (and by extension, from ''VideoGame/HalfLife2'').
** The taunt "garry" is a reference to the dance emote performable by the command "act dance" in ''Garry's Mod''.
** gm_flatgrass is available in the game as a secret level.[[note]]As of 27/01/2023, the teleport to it has been removed due to bug fixing. The developers have stated that it will return, but it's at low priority at the moment[[/note]]
* ShoutOut:
** Doubling as a MythologyGag, the [[VideoGame/HalfLife2 Gravity Gun]] is shown on a shelf in the shop.
** The game's title screen shows the current game from the perspective of various grainy security cameras. The static effect appears to be ripped straight from ''VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddys1''.
** A significant portion of the game's open world is based on ''WebOriginal/TheBackrooms''.
** Some of the taunts have references:
*** Three of the taunts are [[VideoGame/TeamFortress2 the Kazotsky Kick, Conga, and Mannrobics]] (the latter simply being called "aerobics", but nonetheless having the same animation).
*** The taunt "friendly" is based on the popular crouch-punch signal from ''VideoGame/{{Minecraft}}'', including identical animations.
