** Time Man's stage is rife with time puns. For one, the whole stage is basically an obstacle course in timing.
*** It also includes sections where you have to navigate past a series of time bombs.

** Gutsman is vulnerable to Time Man's weapon because he's the only Robot Master whose job is to make sure the work gets done on time.
** Gutsman's stage includes several unnerving sections where you're riding a tiny conveyer across a bottomless pit, jumping to avoid being dumped into it, then having to make a tricky jump off the conveyer to reach solid ground. These are naturally the portions of the stage that demand the most guts to navigate.

Added DiffLines:

** Jumping while riding the Oil Slider produces a stock slide whistle sound effect.

PSP.

Suffice to say, the game received much acclaim when it was released, but due to a combination of the PSP getting off to a slow start, as well as fans being alienated by the chibi art style, the game flopped in sales, axing any plans to release further remakes of the NES Mega Man games.

Compare VideoGame/MegaManMaverickHunterX, a remake of the first game in the VideoGame/MegaManX series, which is also for the PSP.

* LuckBasedMission: Elec Man's Hard stage. Because of the random way the Foot Holders move, plus the fact that one shot from them will knock you to your death, AND the ceiling preventing you from getting a good jump, getting through is basically nothing but luck. Oh, and there's two sections with them.

* PurposelyOverpowered: Proto Man is a metal grinder on legs whose gun can guard crush anything that isn't called "Big Eye" (which it can oneshot anyway) and who runs and jumps higher than anyone else. Given how difficult he is to unlock , though, this is more than likely nothing resembling an accident.

* DamageSpongeBoss: Several. Not so much with Mega Man himself, but when you start with the Robot Masters, there are a LOT of matchups where the boss is only going to take 1 damage a hit, and especially when it's because you're fighting the Robot Master yours is weak to (since they'll also hit you like a sack of bricks), you're in for a lot of trouble.

* DarkReprise: During the second phase of the Wily Machine battle, the battle music adds a downbeat remix of this game's theme song.

* DigAttack: One of Guts Man's attacks is to dig into the ground, then jump out from under the player carrying a Guts Block. He only uses this attack in New Style Mode, and only if the difficulty isn't set to "Easy". In "Hard", he does this three times in a row, the first two times immediately throwing the Guts Block upon surfacing.
