* ExcusePlot: In keeping with games of the 90's, there's no real explanation as to why any of this is happening or what's going on. [[spoiler:Then it begins to insinuate that the ''whole game'' up to this point may have been the product of your fevered mind...]]

* FissionMailed: The "Mission Complete" screen for [[spoiler:[=E3M1=]]] adds a question mark to the end of its title, since it ends with [[spoiler:the player failing to prevent a nuclear missile from launching and detonating above the city they just fought through.]]

** The player exits levels by hitting a BigRedButton, much like how Duke would in ''VideoGame/DukeNukem3D''. However, while Duke would set off a nuclear warhead to leave an area, here the player hits a [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scram SCRAM switch]] as denoted by the Cyrillic "AZ-5" label, preventing just such a detonation.

* DistractedByTheSexy: A rare case of the game interface getting distracted. In [=E2M6=] Dobrosov Castle, the player will come across crudely scrawled graffiti of a naked lady. Upon clearing the level, one of the end of level camera shots is a totally still close up of the graffiti centered directly on her exposed chest.

* CastFromHitPoints: The LightningGun on its own doesn't do this as it charges from its own ammo pool, but ''seeking out additional ammunition for it'' is. Rather than the typical ammo pickups, the player is expected to [[ViolationOfCommonSense shock oneself]] with electrical closets or electrified rails, which have an effect of giving some electrical ammo at the cost of one's health.

* ArtificialBrilliance: Downplayed. As much as the AI wouldn't be quite on par with ''VideoGame/UnrealI'', the enemies do display higher amount of movement abilities compared to the shooters of the style this game emulates. They are able to use ladders to chase you down if you ever think of hitting them from the higher ground yourself, some of them can jump, and the earlier versions of the game even had the enemies be able to swim before the later updates gave them SuperDrowningSkills. Their pathfinding can also be on point at times.
