Don't know where you came to those assumptions, but most of this info was made abundantly clear in Fuga 2's trailer and the official Twitter.

One year after their victory over the Berman Empire and the liberation of Gasco, the twelve children who commandeered the ancient tank Taranis to save their families have since returned to living their lives in peace. However, the Taranis reactivates one day and captures half of their number inside it, while going on a rampage that leaves naught but destruction in its wake. With no other options aside from using the Tarascus, Malt and the other remaining children-- joined by Vanilla Muscat, the President's youngest daughter-- board the former Berman tank to stop the out-of-control Taranis and save everyone.

More significantly, the game features extra replay value and player consequence through the new Judgement system, where Malt's choices to focus more on empathy towards others or more on achieving desired goals will impact the story and bestow upon him different leadership skills that can turn the tide of battle. Intermissions and ruin explorations also return from the last game.

* FusionDance: A new tank called the "Exo-Taranis" is briefly shown in the overview trailer and appears to be controllable in some gameplay footage. Its design features both the Soul Cannon and the Managarm, indicating it to be a combination of the Taranis and Tarascus (though using the former as a template).

* TankGoodness: A new tank called the "Exo-Taranis" is briefly shown in the overview trailer and appears to be controllable in some gameplay footage. It's unclear as to whether it's a mere MidSeasonUpgrade to the Taranis, a possible FusionDance between it and the Tarascus, an evolution of the Tarascus into functioning more like the Taranis, or something else entirely.

Continuing on from the first game's TurnBasedStrategy gameplay, Fuga 2 features new skills and new attacks for the children, a revamped way of progressing through battle routes, and features new decisive mechanics fleshed out from the Soul Cannon of the last game, such as with the Tarascus' own WaveMotionGun, the Managarm, which is now usable in any battle as opposed to just boss fights. Rather than requiring a child's total being to be sacrificed to power it, a child can instead be drained of their energy, knocking them out until the next intermission and negating all experience points gained in the battle.

Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 (「戦場のフーガ2」, "Senjō no Fuga 2", lit. "Fugue on the Battlefield 2" in Japan) is an upcoming turn-based RPG developed and published by Creator/CyberConnect2, as a sequel to the original VideoGame/FugaMelodiesOfSteel also set in the greater VideoGame/LittleTailBronx universe. The game is set to be released worldwide for all major platforms on May 11th, 2023.

In the year following their victory over the Berman Empire and liberation of Gasco, the twelve children who commandeered the ancient tank Taranis to save their families have spent the last year living in peace. Suddenly, however, the Taranis reactivates and captures half of their number inside it, while going on a rampage and leaving naught but destruction in its wake. With no other options aside from using the Tarascus, Malt and the other remaining five children-- joined by Vanilla Muscat, the President's youngest daughter-- board the former Berman tank to stop the out-of-control Taranis and save their friends.

However still, more tragedy may be looming over the horizon, more of the dark secrets surrounding this world are set to be unearthed, and in time, the children may shift towards a new desire for revenge…

Continuing on from the first game's TurnBasedStrategy gameplay, Fuga 2 features new skills and new attacks for the children, a revamped way of progressing through battle routes, and features new decisive mechanics fleshed out from the Soul Cannon of the last game, such as with the Tarascus' own WaveMotionGun, the Managarm. Rather than requiring a child's life to be sacrificed to power it, a child can instead be drained of their energy, knocking them out until the next intermission and negating all experienced gained in the battle.

The official website can be found here, with the overview trailer for the game watchable here.

!!Tropes in Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 include:
* CastFromHitPoints: The Managarm works this way-- a child's energy can be used to power it, but it incapacitates them rather than killing them, meaning they aren't permanently removed from battle, only knocked out until the next intermission.
* KarmaMeter: The new Judgement system is built upon two values: "Empathy" for if Malt aims towards co-operation and caring for his crew members, and "Resolution" for if he makes choices focused on working towards a goal. Malt gains different leadership skills in battle as a result.
