''Bravely Default: Flying Fairy'' (''Bravely Default: Where the Fairy Flies'' in Europe) is an EasternRPG for the Nintendo3DS developed by Silicon Studio and published by SquareEnix. It is a GaidenGame to the [[RunningGag neck-breakingly popular]] ''Franchise/FinalFantasy'' series. It is said to be the successor to ''[[VideoGame/FinalFantasyThe4HeroesOfLight Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light]]'', although whether this is SpiritualSuccessor or sequel is not yet known.

Agnes Oblige is a young woman [[TheChosenOne chosen to be the protector]] of the Wind Crystal, one of the four elemental Crystals that rule over the land of Luxendarc. When the Wind Crystal is consumed by darkness, Agnes must embark on a grand journey across the world to purify it, with [[FairyCompanion the guidance of a magical Crystal Fairy]] called Airy.

Aiding her on her journey is an eclectic group of characters: Tiz Oria, a heroic young man [[SurvivorGuilt who survived a great disaster]]; Ringabel, an enigmatic {{Casanova}}; and Edea Lee, a chivalrous knight from the country of Eternia who was originally sent to capture Agnes. Opposing them are the Job Masters of the Eternian Air Force, who aim to seize the power of the Crystals for their own use.

It was released in Japan in October 11, 2012, a localization has been confirmed with a European release date of December 6, 2013 and a North American release sometime in early 2014.

It has a sequel in a form of a free-to-play browser game called ''Bravely Default: Praying Brage''.

Random fact: the lead writer is [[VisualNovel/SteinsGate Naotaka Hayashi]]. In addition, the game's score is by Revo of SoundHorizon fame.
