** Cael [[spoiler:claims that wiping out humanity is necessary because the later species is inherently more evil than Celestials and that he'll turn Vyen into a paradise for his species. However, he's not only responsible for corrupting Lord Gwir into starting a world war to weaken humanity, he also takes sadistic pleasure in slaughtering humans, making it clear his claims of inherent morality are bull. He's also the only Celestial to hold these supremacist views and will mercilessly kill any of his own who oppose him]].

''[=BlueSkies=]'' is an MediaNotes/RPGMaker 2003 game developed by Starmage in 2016 as the first game in the ''VideoGame/BlueSkiesSeries''.

Skye is a healer from Suna Town, who comes into contact with the mysterious Divina. Divina urges him to travel east in order to use his powers to help more people, which he sets out to do with the help of his friends. Meanwhile, Prince Caven of Gemeid is traveling west on his own journey for personal growth, only to run into Skye's party in Fidel City. Unfortunately, the tyrannical Lord Gwir commands the Xmeilian army to attack Fidel City, forcing the two protagonists to team up and put an end to Gwir's war.

* AbdicateTheThrone: When it turns out [[spoiler:Skye is the true prince of Gemeid, Caven willingly gives up his status as crown prince to Skye and acts as his champion. However, in the epilogue, Skye passes the throne to Caven in order to [[WalkingTheEarth wander the planet]] as a traveling healer]].
* AbusiveParents:
** Erwin is introduced not only [[DomesticAbuse beating his wife]], but also his son Skye for calling him out for it.
** Lord Gwir turned two of his children into mutant supersoldiers, though one of his sons, Xent, managed to escape his clutches.
* BoringButPractical: Food items don't heal much, but they tend to be more efficient per gold spent compared to stronger consumables like Potions and Mana Water.
* CreateYourOwnVillain: The Celestial elders sent several Celestials to Vyen to watch over humanity from the shadows and keep them from destroying themselves. Unfortunately, [[spoiler:Cael twisted their mission to justify his supremacist views, claiming that committing genocide on humanity will end their wars and maintain the universe's balance]].
* CripplingOverspecialization: Skye can use healing and summon magic, but he can't use the attack command, giving him nothing to do if he runs out of MP or if he has yet to learn any offensive skills. He does learn some offensive SummonMagic later, but he's still completely dependent on MP to attack.
* CrutchCharacter: Tri is a GuestStarPartyMember on Caven's route, who starts at a higher level and has better gear due to his experience as a mercenary.
* DealWithTheDevil: Figar, the mayor of Gwado, made a deal with a demon of greed in order to make the town prosperous, but that demon instead threatened to destroy the town if the mayor didn't feed them money.
* DomesticAbuse: Erwin tries to leave his wife in favor of his mistress, and beats her when she protests.
* DoomedHometown: Partway into the game, [[spoiler:the Xmeilian officer Cael destroys Skye's hometown of Suna with a single powerful spell, which motivates Skye to continue to fight against Xmeil and stop their war for world domination]].
* EarlyGameHell: The early game is difficult because even basic healing items are very expensive while enemies drop very little money.
* EvilOverlord: Lord Gwir is the tyrannical ruler of Xmeil, who believes he's entitled to conquer the entire world and [[AxCrazy relishes the bloodshed]] his ambitions will inevitably cause. He's really a PuppetKing for [[spoiler:Cael, who sees him as a pawn to weaken humanity]].
* FantasticRacism:
** Lord Gwir hates those of the Celestial bloodline and seeks to wipe them out, even if he has to raze entire cities just to get rid of one. This is not because they did anything to him personally, but because he hates that they're secretly policing human civilization, which would undermine his authority.
** In turn, the Cael [[spoiler:wants to kill all humans because he believes they're inherently drawn to war and that Celestials are inherently superior to them]].
* ForgottenFirstMeeting: Skye and Caven were actually playmates in their childhood, but they didn't get each other's names.
* FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse: Lord Gwir states that due to the pain of losing his wife Malaika, he ended up hating the world and now seeks to conquer it to numb his trauma. His son, Xent, points out Malaika would never approve of this and Gwir himself admits that his war is ultimately a way to satisfy his lust for power.
* GuestStarPartyMember:
** Skye starts with October, Celica, and Heart as his party members, but they're eventually [[spoiler:captured by Xmeil. They do get a brief playable segment where they try and fail to escape from Xmeil's lab, but after the main playable party rescues them, they take refuge in Gemeid]].
** During Caven's first playable segment, he teams up with the mercenary Tri to solve Gwado's demon problem. Afterwards, Tri leaves the party and stays in Gwado for the rest of the game.
** During Xmeil's attack on Fidel, the Gemedian soldier Rheyl temporarily joins Skye and Caven to help them escape from Xmeil's soldiers. Unfortunately, [[spoiler:he is captured and only gets one more playable segment when he teams up with Skye's original party members in an attempt to escape from Xmeil's lab]].
** Meiling joins the party when they arrive in Gemeid and helps them infiltrate Xmeil, but leaves in order to escort the Xmeil lab prisoners to safety in Gemeid.
* HeelFaceDoorSlam: Lord Gwir [[spoiler:almost accepts Skye's offer of forgiveness and agrees to call off his plans for world domination, but Cael kills him]].
* HumbleHero: Skye believes he's a simple healer in the grand scheme of things, but Divina, the mysterious being from Sylph Forest, tells him that he has given hope to his friends and family just by helping them with their problems, and that [[YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre he can do the same for the rest of the world]].
* InterruptedSuicide: Skye's mother nearly tried to drown herself after her abusive husband left the household, but Skye convinced her to keep on living.
* KarmaHoudini: After the party [[spoiler:frees the prisoners of Xmeil's lab, Silver escapes and is never seen again, even in the epilogue, meaning she is never punished for her horrific mutant experiments]].
* TheMole: The Xmeil officer, Nimir, [[spoiler:serves under Lord Gwir only to keep track of his plans on behalf of a Celestial organization. Unfortunately, Gwir is already wary of him and knows he's a Celestial, which means Nimir can't really maintain this role. He does try to use his influence to reduce casualties during Gwir's conquest of Vyen, but to no avail. However, he does manage to use his position to protect the party from Cael after the latter destroys Suna Town]].
* NotSoWellIntentionedExtremist:
** Xmeil's's army claims that their conquest will be for the good of the world's population, even though their leader, Lord Gwir, is an AxCrazy dictator who enjoys the idea of slaughtering civilians in order to rule through fear. Additionally, Gwir plans on forcing many of the conquered people to be part of Dr. Silver's mutant experiments. Later on, it becomes apparent that he's doing this to cope with the death of his wife, even though he knows she would never want him to start a world war.
* OneWingedAngel:
** Ketero and Juno are Xmeil officers who are initially seen in their human forms, but transform into powerful monsters for their boss battle, thanks to Silver's mutant experiments.
** Silver forces [[spoiler:October, Celica, Heart, and Rheyl to fight Tina, who she mutated into a lamia monster]].
** Cael [[spoiler:transforms into a humanoid with both angel and devil wings. He states that this is different from mutations and is in fact his true form as a Celestial]].
* RapeAsBackstory: Tina reveals that [[spoiler:her father raped her as a child, so she poisoned him and became desperate to survive. This also drove a wedge between her and Melyra, since the latter stated that she didn't want to lose her dignity by becoming a sex worker, [[InnocentlyInsensitive not knowing that she was unintentionally]] saying that Tina lost her dignity due to her past]].
* SoLongAndThanksForAllTheGear: Skye's party members [[spoiler:will leave after the player reports the bandit quest to Fidel's office, and they won't unequip their gear. The same applies to all other guest characters, such as Tri, Rheyl, and Meiling, who will all take their gear upon leaving the party]].
* SummonMagic: Crema, Zermo, Excar, Lianna, [[spoiler:and Divina are all beings who Skye can summon to deal AOE damage. The sequel reveals they are all Celestials rather than a separate race/group of summon monsters like in ''Final Fantasy'']].
* SwitchedAtBirth: Prince Caven discovers that [[spoiler:he and Skye were actually switched at birth, since Xmeil would have discovered Skye is a Celestial if Skye was announced as the prince of Gemeid. Caven is upset at his parents for lying about this, but eventually decides to accept this and support Skye as his protector]].
* TakingTheBullet: In Xmeil, [[spoiler:Nimir sacrifices himself to protect Skye from Cael's spell]].
* TautologicalTemplar: Cael [[spoiler:is a Celestial spy just like Nimir, but he believes himself to be [[HolierThanThou morally superior]] to humans even though he proves to be just as genocidal and cruel as Gwir while having no redeeming qualities. He also believes he knows better than the other Celestials, since he ignores any condemnation of his hypocrisy and considers any Celestial who opposes him a disgrace to the species who deserves to be purged]].
* TokenEvilTeammate: Most of the Celestials in the story, such as [[spoiler:Krystalle, Skye,]] Nimir, and the five summonable allies are benevolent and seek to maintain balance in Vyen. The exception is [[spoiler:Cael, a Celestial supremacist who wants to wipe out humanity and turn Vyen into a paradise solely for Celestials]].
* TragicBigot: Caven becomes resentful towards all Xmeilians after Cael [[spoiler:destroys Suna Town and kills his biological mother]], to the point where he attacks Prince Xent even though the party needs to recruit him to get into Xmeil's lab. Xent repeatedly has to explain that Xmeil's citizens are also victims of Lord Gwir's megalomania and that he and his brothers are considered nothing more than sacrificial pawns for his father's ambitions. In the epilogue, Caven overcomes his prejudices and even ends up marrying an Xmeilian woman.
* TheUnfought:
** Silver is a MadScientist who relies solely on mutants to enforce her will. When the party defeats her mutants and corners her, she retreats and [[KarmaHoudini is never seen again]].
** Skye has to defeat summonable beings before they will agree to become his allies. The only exception is [[spoiler:Divina at the start of the final dungeon, since the situation is too urgent for a test of strength]].
* WarriorPrince: Prince Caven is a swordsman who goes off on an adventure in order to become worthy of being a king someday. However, [[spoiler:he later learns that he and Skye were switched from birth, so he gives up his inheritance and serves as Skye's champion instead, only for Skye to give the throne back to him in old age]].
* YouKilledMyFather: Cael wipes [[spoiler:Suna Town off the map, killing Skye's mother Esthelle in the process. When it turns out Caven and Skye were switched at birth and that Esthelle is actually Caven's biological mother, Caven angsts over failing to protect Esthelle more than he did already]].
