* WorfHadTheFlu: It's heavily implied that you could be a lot stronger (or at least master your skills faster) [[spoiler:if you weren't affected by the Mark of the Black Rose. In the early acts, when your main quests don't involve tracking down Jinsoyun, you're usually addressing your blocked-up Chi and how bad your condition is becoming.]]

She's so aching to break free from her dull country lifestyle that she hooks up with Gwen of the Blackram and leaks information leading to Bamboo Village's near-destruction]].

* InformedAttribute: [[spoiler:The Mark of the Black Rose is killing and twisting you in the same way it killed Hajoon, and once Hajoon passes, many people begin to comment on the fact that you look very, very ill in the same way Hajoon did. This is not reflected on your character model, however; you look as you did at character creation.]]

* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Rather worse here than in some other media, due to the fact that the the game's romanization is largely inconsistent with Revised Romanization (the official standard of Korean romanization) and seems to romanize things however it wants regardless of how close it is to the original. Many fans from earlier releases of the game are used to various different styles of romanization. Even worse, the game itself is inconsistent as to whether it separates surnames and given names (e.g. "Ha Jungwang versus Jinsoyun, the latter of which should be "Jin Seoyeon" if Revised Romanization were used).

* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Rather worse here than in some other media, due to some of the modern shake-ups within Korean romanization - the official translation uses a somewhat simplified version of the official Revised Romanization system (which was only officially adopted at the turn of the millenium), and in particular tends to use as few spaces as possible in the names, all likely for the sake of pronunciation clarity, but many fans from earlier releases of the game got used to other romanizations or used "older", more familiar romanziation styles for the largely Korean-inspired names.
** Good examples include "Jinsoyun" (official) versus "Jin Seo Yeon" (a somewhat more common romanization) and "Poharan" versus "Pohwaran" or even "Po Hwa Ran".

He has a habit of overreacting to slights in [[DisproportionateRetribution disgustingly overkill ways]] and pull rank to justify his crimes. The worst part is, your character is stuck more or less subservient because he threatens to wipe out a village you swore to protect from him, and that still doesn't stop him from working villagers to death in his mine ''while you're doing what he asks''.

* {{Revenge}}: A constant theme throughout the game. [[spoiler:Jinsoyun and Lusung]] both turned to TheDarkSide to gain enough power for revenge, and [[spoiler:you can succumb to this too]].

Players can choose from four races based off TheFourGods: the human-esque Jin, the lithe Yun, the goliath Gon and the diminutive Lyn. Your race determines which class you can choose from. ''Blade & Soul'''s combat is halfway between a traditional MMO "skill bar" and a FightingGame, encouraging you to string together increasingly ludicrous combos and defend yourself with well-timed counter-moves.
