One of the first areas of the state populated due to the vast lead deposits in the area, it's very hilly and very rural, with no major cities beyond Platteville and Dodgeville. Mainly agricultural, although Platteville has a UW campus, and Dodgeville has Lands' End, a major clothing retailer, and not much else.
