The economic powerhouse of Canada, home to both the federal capital and the largest city overall, Ontario boasts the largest provincial population and the most cities.
Somewhat oddly, the urbanized south is divided mainly into counties, while the larger, more sparsely populated north is made up of districts. There is a significant distinction in cultural identity between these regions, with the dividing line being somewhere between Ottawa and Algonquin Park. The north has had something of a separatist movement, to the point where it is de facto recognised as its own province.
Other notable cities include: Hamilton, aka Steeeltown a port city on the shores of Lake Ontario that is home to the largest steel mills in the county; Windsor, which forms part of the greater Detroit Metro area and (at one point) benefiting from the automotive and gambling industries; London, like it's more famous namesake it also sits on a Thames River; Sudbury, home to a Neutrino Observatory deep in a disused nickel mine; Thunder Bay, the geographic centre of the province and 13 hour drive away from the majority of the province's population; Kingston, one of the oldest cities in Canada and home of the first Prime Minister; and Kitchener-Waterloo, stomping ground for Research In Motion and Blackberry developers.
In CFL, Ontario is known for the Toronto Argonauts (known for the distinctive "ArgOs" cheer) and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (Ti-Cats to their fans). NHL fans know that it is impossible to get tickets to a home game of the Toronto Maple Leafs, but you can usually catch the Ottawa Senators. There have been more than a couple of petitions to bring one of the bankrupt southern US teams to the hockey hungry province (suggested cities included Kitchener-Cambridge-Waterloo region, Hamilton, London, and Mississauga) but all have been refused.
Resembles a sleeping whale, whereby the "tail" forms the aforementioned south.

Famous for being both the largest population of French speakers in North America and also for being perhaps the most secessionist-leaning province of Canada. Although federalism has been on the rise in recent years, Quebec has toyed with the concept of not being quite the same as the rest of the country. Various federal and provincial actions such as declaring Quebec a distinct society and implementing strict language laws have either strengthened separatism or federalism depending on who you talk to.
Quebec is one of the most historic provinces with Quebec City retaining most of the original stone buildings from the settlement of New France. The Plains of Abraham where General Wolfe of Britain finally won North America by defeating General Montcalme of France is preserved as an historic park in downtown Quebec City.
While the majority of the province speaks French, the dialect is much more old fashioned and "twangier" than what is spoken in France. As well, swear words are quite different from one to another, leading to movies dubbed in France being given a lighter rating in Quebec.
Montreal is home to the CFL team the Alouets and the NHL team the Canadiens (or "Habs") who's fans are known for rioting regardless of the actual outcome of the game. It is still a point of contention with the NHL commission that the Nordiques have not returned to Quebec city.
Quebec is the largest province by area, bordering 3 other provinces

It isalso still a point of contention with the NHL commission that the Nordiques have not returned to Quebec city.
