* MagicAIsMagicA: Discussed in the first chapter. When Tempest realizes that she has a Keyblade, she immediately goes into a rant about how she can't ''just have'' a Keyblade. "The tutorial voice" suggests that she ''could'' be the progenitor of a new line of Keyblades, since that's something that necessarily must happen from time to time, but admits when pressed that this isn't ''actually'' the case.

[[folder:Draft of a fanfic/ page]]
[[http://the.actual.link.instead.of.a.placeholder X XXXXXX XXXX XXXXXX XXXXXXXX]] is a ''Franchise/KingdomHearts'' fanfic by wingedcatgirl (yes, [[Tropers/{{Wingedcatgirl}} the same one]] as on ThisVeryWiki). Tempest, [[SelfInsert a fictionalized version of the author]], finds herself thrust into the Kingdom Hearts multiverse when Earth falls to darkness and she gets a Keyblade because of course she does, Keyblades stopped being special in canon like seven entries ago. Organization XIII has inexplicably come back, a whole generation of OriginalCharacter antagonists (and allies) is suddenly active again after in-universe decades, and Xehanort is still planning to Xehanort it up (even if he's taking a pause to reevaluate these new circumstances). Because why would a ''small'' number of ''easily-handled'' plots ever happen in the Kingdom Hearts multiverse?

!This fanfic contains examples of
* AnimatedArmor: The Assault Armor, which Sora calls out as a cliche (since Guard Armor and Trinity Armor already existed).
* BlatantLies: Roxas and Xion plan to report that Tempest's escape was entirely unexpected, and their absence was because they spent that time in "hot pursuit". This causes Tempest to imagine Xigbar [[ShoutOut shrugging and saying "okay I believe you"]].
* BloodFromTheMouth: As part of Tempest's PowerStrainBlackout, though as she's in a Dive to the Heart at the time, it seems to correspond to something other than hemoptysis and vanishes as soon as she wakes up.
* CallBack: When Tempest first summons her Keyblade in the waking world, she starts to repeat her MagicAIsMagicA rant from the first chapter, before getting deja vu and yelling about that instead.
* {{Crossover}}: It's ''Kingdom Hearts'', so naturally crossing-over happens. So far, ''VideoGame/FallenLondon'' has made an appearance.
* DontLikeDontRead: The first two chapters open with a note to the effect of "this is a SelfInsertFic, don't read it if you don't like that".
* DramaticIrony: Tempest forgets her entire Dive to the Heart, since it's a dream, and spends several chapters unaware that she has a Keyblade.
* EnsembleCast: Of a sort. While Tempest is ''the'' protagonist, she spends her time in the company of a rotating selection of secondary characters.
* FictionalColor: ''VideoGame/FallenLondon'''s Violant shows up. Tempest and Riku have vague impressions that they could use it to remember... ''something'' [[spoiler:hinted to be Xion]] and pick up a pot of it.
* HandWave: The reason Organization XIII is back turns out to be [[spoiler:the Kingdom Hearts Encoder did it. Remember, that device Ansem said "anything could happen" when it exploded? Well, turns out "resurrecting several antagonists" is a subset of "anything".]]
* HypocriticalHumor: Luke warns Tempest, Sora, and Kairi not to forget about Xehanort to fixate on the Points of Shadow. He then immediately declares his intention to forget about Xehanort and fixate on the Points of Shadow for a while.
* IDoNotOwn: Appears in the first chapter, entirely so it can be repeated with the word "still" inserted a bunch of times in the second chapter. The [=AO3=] mirror makes a different joke, {{lampshad|eHanging}}ing that this trope isn't part of the culture there.
* MagicAIsMagicA: Discussed in the first chapter. When Tempest realizes that she has a Keyblade, she immediately goes into a rant about how she can't ''just have'' a Keyblade. "The tutorial voice" suggests that she ''could'' be the progenitor of a new line of Keyblades, since that's something that necessarily must happen from time to time, but admits that this isn't ''actually'' the case.
* NarniaTime: As in canon, time between worlds isn't synced, or even particularly predictable. Tempest figures that this is how Luke had enough time to transition that she couldn't recognize him at all, when from Tempest's perspective she last saw him twelve days ago and he hadn't even come out as trans.
* PaintingTheMedium: The ''VideoGame/FallenLondon'' segment is written in third-person, unlike the rest of the story, and uses titles in its NamelessNarrative style, though Tempest and Riku still use names in the dialogue.
* PowerStrainBlackout: Happens at the end of the first chapter, when Tempest unleashes a ridiculous amount of magic without really controlling it.
* RetGone: [[spoiler:Xion is hinted to have gone this way ''again'']] as of chapter 7.
* SelfInsertFic: The author makes absolutely no attempt to hide this.
* SuspiciouslySpecificDenial: {{Invoked|Trope}} by Tempest; when a cat in the Fifth City asks her if she's an "outsider", she doesn't ''really'' want to deny it but feels obligated to make a token attempt to uphold TheMasquerade. So she says "I believe I'm contractually obligated to answer that question with a 'no'."
* {{Transgender}}: Tempest is a trans woman, as you would likely have assumed [[SelfInsert if you happened to know the author]]. Her brother Luke is a trans man. The scientist Nox, who wrote the reports on Points of Shadow, is also a trans woman.
* TrainingFromHell: Yuffie puts Tempest through this, partly because Tempest would otherwise have no combat skills at all, and partly because [[IResembleThatRemark she was annoyed that Tempest expected her to do this]].
* UndisclosedFunds: The price of assembling a Gummi Ship isn't stated directly, only scribbled by Cid on a piece of paper, but Tempest estimates that it'd take her a month of non-stop Heartless-slaying without spending time or money on anything else.
* WrongContextMagic: Tempest complains that the return of Organization XIII is this, since among other oddities it has resulted in Axel and Lea walking around at the same time, despite the fact that there should only be one body between them. [[spoiler:The explosion of the Kingdom Hearts Encoder was technically not "outside context", but it certainly ''didn't'' follow any of the other rules of magic in the setting]].
* YinYangBomb: Light clashing with darkness releases {{phlebotinum}} called "flux". Points of Shadow are naturally-occurring oddities in the fabric of spacetime that amplify this effect up to potentially causing a localized RealityBreakingParadox.

* DeletedScene: Occasionally, when rewriting, the author considers the old version of a scene too amusing to just consign to oblivion, and posts a screenshot of it to her twitter account.
* DevelopmentGag: Chapter 7 uses the phrase "serious lecture on opsec", mainly to reference [[https://twitter.com/wingedcatgirl/status/953013341747924997 this]] deleted scene the author found particularly amusing.
* LyingCreator: An accidental example -- [[spoiler:chapter 8 ends with a note stating that chapter 9 will probably contain no "boss fight", giving several reasons for this]]. While the author ''expected'' this to be true when she wrote the note, the next chapter does exactly not what the note said.
* NamesTheSame: Luke's name does rather remind one of ''Franchise/StarWars''. This is {{lampshade|Hanging}}d, but WordOfGod is that this is not meant as a ShoutOut.
* OldShame: [[DownplayedTrope While she's still fond of it overall]], the author considers the early chapters, particularly the first, to be noticeably weaker than the later ones.
* ScheduleSlip: Discussed in the author notes. While she doesn't strictly have a "schedule" (precisely because she wouldn't be able to keep to it), she complains about her writing pace whenever she takes more than two weeks to upload a chapter.
* WordOfGod: Several facts have yet to appear in the story proper, and are known only from the author notes or other communications:
** [[OneTrueThreesome Sora/Riku/Kairi]] is canon to the fic. The author admits she may ''never'' actually depict this in text, in part because none of them are viewpoint characters and so they don't get as much screentime as she'd like to use to develop a relationship properly.
** Nox being a trans woman is mentioned only in an author note ''only on the [=AO3=] mirror''. [[note]]The author doesn't put notes on the FFN upload of Jiminy's Journal interludes, because that site has no dedicated notes sections, and in Jiminy's Journal interludes she prefers to dedicate its only separator to separating the individual entries.[[/note]]
** The "tutorial voice" in Tempest's Dive to the Heart belongs to an actual character in the story. ''Which'' character has yet to be stated even in an author note, but it's someone who wouldn't use the phrase "recursion needs a base case".

I like video games and cats.

I was going to copy all the text from my previous troper page but then I changed my mind.
