[[folder:Pet Peeve Tropes]]
I may also be adding a folder for tropes I like, but because there's more of them it might take awhile. Some of these are tropes found in works, others are tropes about responses to works.
* {{All Anime is Naughty Tentacles}}: If you really believe that all anime is porn or extreme violence, then you're being incredibly ignorant.
* {{Animation Age Ghetto}}: It comes off as patronizing when people believe this, especially considering I've seen many animated series or movies that are much more mature than their live-action equivalents.
* {{Better than a Bare Bulb}}: Lampshade hangings can be done well. Too often, though, they're used as a crutch to allow writers to be lazy and justify it with a cheap joke about how lazy the writing is. Most series like that fall under this trope.
* {{Deconstruction}}: Let's be clear: I actually like well-done deconstructions a lot. However, people tend to throw this word around like it automatically makes a series better by having it, and tend to apply it to their favorite works to elevate it without actually understanding what a proper deconstruction is. I once saw someone describe {{Manga/Death Note}} as a deconstruction of a typical shounen series...when no, it's simply a dark drama in the shounen demographic. Deconstruction does not automatically make a series better or "deeper."
* {{Faux Action Girl}}: I personally find this more demeaning than having no female characters. If you don't have the guts to make the female action hero a legitimate fighter, than just quit acting like she is without doing anything.
* {{Love Triangle}}: In romance works, they can be done well. Shoehorned into other genres they become grating and annoying. I personally find them an excuse to create melodrama, and prefer a focus on a single couple.
* {{Plot Armor}}: If the only reason for the characters surviving is "They are the main characters", then congratulations, author, you have failed writing forever.
* {{Real Women Never Wear Dresses}}: This isn't feminist or egalitarian in any way, shape, or form. Criticizing female characters for being weak for ''acting like real women'' is so mind-boggling I can't even understand it.
* {{Seinfeld is Unfunny}}: This is not a reason to dislike a work. Understand every work in the context it was created in.
* {{True Art is Angsty}}: Angst is not necessarily deep, and being optimistic is not necessarily immature or shallow.
* {{Tsundere}}: Can be written well, often comes off as incredibly obnoxious and an excuse for writers to throw in "comedy" in the form of {{unprovoked pervert payback}}s and other ''[[SarcasmMode hilarious]]'' double standards.
