Tropers/Skylite, the troper formerly known as Paradisca Corbasi, is a middle-aged but young-at-heart native New Yorker currently enduring the wilds of the American South. She found [=TVTropes=] in late 2007, and was instantaneously hooked. She is an active blogger on [=LiveJournal=].

She is a fan of many things but because of the craziness and drama that tends to happen so much in fandom, she considers herself a fringe fan these days. Persuasive people can get fan art and fan fiction out of her.

Due to the fact she grew up in the 60s-80s and because she now works for an entertainment conglomerate, she watches a lot of TV and movies, and as such is an enthusiastic and avid Tropeophile.

Interests beyond Tropism can be found more or less alongside the appropriate trope entry for the trope or show.

Tropers/Skylite herself is an example of the following tropes:
* AgonyOfTheFeet: Comes with being a klutz.
* AuthorAvatar:
** it is me in my webcomic Orchid Coloured Glasses.
* BerserkButton: Really don't like my given name. To the point I'm gonna legally change it. Remarking on it will get a DeathGlare. Singing the song associated -- very bad idea.
** Honorable mention: The spoiler policy. It really, really bugs me to see Trope Names spoilered out. SpoilerPolicy says we don't do that. So don't do it!
* BookDumb: Only did well in school in subjects I found interesting. Anything else was a struggle, especially math.
* ChewToy: See UnluckyEverydude.
* CloudCuckoolander
* CrackOhMyBack
* DoesNotLikeShoes
* DreadlockRasta: Not so much to be counter-authoritative. But it's cheaper and much more practical, and I get more compliments on my hair this way than I ever did when I wore it other ways.
* DudeNotFunny: Don't like subjects like rape or incest played for comedy, thanks. Also hate how slang has made 'pimp' 'whore' and 'rape' words that trivialize those really unfortunate situations.
* EasyAmnesia: well, close. I suffer from traumatic amnesia. Things from my past turn up if I actively seek them out or if something triggers them; which is the reason for the blog. This isn't always pleasant. Additionally, I have a good number of knowledges and skills with no recollection of how I came to learn them.
* FanBoy: That's fangirl, thank you.
* TheFireflyEffect: Why I didn't bother to watch and get invested with Dollhouse.
* FishOutOfWater: I'm a city girl from NY living in a place that calls itself a city but lacks 80% of the amenities of a real city like NY.
* Geek:
* GenreSavvy: But isn't that everybody on this Wiki?
* GrammarNazi: and spelling too, though I'm a bit of an anglophile and prefer UK spelling to American. Go fig. I also seem to be plagued with Typo Daemons.
* GuiltyPleasures: Ok, I actually admire the animation enough to watch FanboyAndChumChum. There, I said it.
* HeadphonesEqualIsolation: I'm an introvert who needs quiet time alone not talking to anybody to recharge. And the headphones were suggested to me so I could get such at work when I was desperate enough to try anything for some peace. Although sometimes people take it as "just talk louder".
* HypeAversion: Why I didn't watch VeronicaMars or Supernatural.
* JustForPun: Ok, yeah, I suffer from a bit of paranomaisia.
* NeverHeardThatOneBefore: Let's put it this way: I plan to change my legal name to Indigo. I'd rather much put up with those jokes than the ones my given name creates.
* ReverseFunnyAneurysm happens when I watch Vanilla Sky.
* SlidingScaleOfIdealismVersusCynicism: I fall way near the idealism side, much to my own dismay more often than not.
* TVGenius: see above about weird knowledges and skills. I have a head full of trivia which comes in handy at the oddest times. Plus, I pick up knowledge and hold onto it if I think it'll be important, which makes me the go-to girl at work.
* TVTropesWillRuinYourLife: Averted! I actually enjoy spotting tropes in shows, movies, cartoons and books. Wait, no! Played straight! I have the tendency to alphabetize the media categories!
* TheUnfavorite: My mom is a Mary Kay lady ex-model fashion plate. I'm a bookworm geek technophile. My sister is the pretty, girly one. My late brother was the talented one. All I do is draw (my mom used to say she would send my art to Marvel comics. Empty promises).
* Tuckerization: I have a cameo in one of Mira Grant's Newsflesh books.
* UnfortunateNames: don't ask.
* UnluckyEverydude: Oh, let's not get into it, shall we? This is such a pleasant entry.

* Film/FerrisBuellersDayOff: Mine is that Ferris was a Mage from the WhiteWolf MageTheAscension game. He's been one at least since his freshman year. And he was trying to Awaken Sloane, Jeanne, and Cameron. So everything that kept him from getting busted was him subtly pulling the RealityWarper thing. He even succeeded with 66% of that goal as, by the end of the film, Cam is ready to stand up to his father and Jeanne has decided to live her life and stop stressing so much about how Ferris gets away with everything.
* Film/FinalDestination: Same thing. The young Mages in these movies are Awakening as the film starts. They reflexively act to protect their loved ones, and the rest of the film is Paradox coming after them to remind them why it's a bad idea to mess with reality on such a grand scale.

* DannyPhantom ended up with Valerie rather than that manipulative shrew, Sam.
* Michael Jackson's entire life paused right before he got his first plastic surgery, but "Thriller" and "Bad" were made anyway.
* BuffyTheVampireSlayer
** did not have that scene with Spike.
*** She is the Slayer, and if that scene had happened, she should not have gone all crumply whimpery, but put him through the wall.
*** Their relationship was built on DestructoNookie and set a bad precedent, but still!!
** The bit with Willow completely discounting her feelings for Xander and Oz? Also didn't happen. She's bisexual, not merely "Gay now!"
** Tara did not get killed so trivially just to make Willow go BigBad.
** Jonathan did not die either.
* HarryPotter:
** Harry picked Cho or somebody else, anybody else, than the girl who is way too much like his mother.
** Umbridge did not live. She died offpanel or something.
** Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks-Lupin did not die and leave their child orphaned!
* Firefly/Serenity
** Book and Wash did not die. The FanFic "Wish I Was Somebody Else" by Nauticalgal is canon!!
* MarvelComics:
** Storm is still leader of the X-Men and did not just abandon the team she's spent her life with to marry Black Panther so there would be a Flagship Couple for the two most well-known black comic book characters. They did not make up a lame BackStory to justify this.
** Civil War did not happen.
** Brand New Day did not happen. I like Gwen Stacy better too, but to destroy 30 years of continuity for it and diss the fans too? Nuh-uh. Quesada does mean "with cheese", though, doesn't it?
** Gambit did not lead the Marauders to the Morlocks' home to be massacred. Rogue did not leave him to freeze to death in Antarctica. And they did not stay together.
** Jean Grey did not say "it'll be awhile before I come BackFromTheDead again, so here, let me erase your memories so you can have a happy life with Emma Frost."
* DrHorriblesSingAlongBlog
** Penny and Billy ended up together after he gets out of jail. Everything after "Here goes no Mercy" was him imagining what would have happened if he'd actually killed Captain Hammer...lalalalacan't hear you!
* There is only one movie based on Dr. Seuss' books: It is HortonHearsAWho.
* RealLife:
** The SciFiChannel did not diss nerds/geeks, and did not change their name to "Syfy", which is known in Poland as a synonym for "syphillis" and/or filth.

* Usually, I really, really don't like the FirstGirlWins trope. It'd be nice to see some other girl win.
** Sam Manson is manipulative, mean, and uses Danny for her own agenda. Paulina is shallow and vapid and loves the alter ego. Valerie was misguided, and turned out nice once the misunderstanding was sorted out. Guess who Danny picked.
** Katara? Don't get me started. It's creepy that she was the mother/big sister figure as well as the love interest. She even goes so far as to give a motherly speech about how much Aang has grown up and how proud of him she is. After which he kisses her! And another one later on about how she's not the TeamMom, which they then go on to lampshade.
*** I didn't much care for Mai, either, and OppositesAttract could've solved that problem handily.
** KimPossible and Ron Stoppable are an exception because Kim had an active handful of choices, and Ron got enough CharacterDevelopment he was interesting as a romantic choice. Sort of.
** The AmericanDragonJakeLong example doesn't bother me either. Jake dated a few girls, and they didn't ShipTease by making it seem like he might pick somebody else. It was always Rose. And they had a very difficult time getting together, so that was not as unsatisfying.
** I was thrilled when Sookie dumped Bill and has, to date, refused to go back to him. He was a bastard, nothing magnificent about him.
** I am really hoping Peter and Gwen get together on TheSpectacularSpiderMan
** HarryPotter/Ginny Weasley is another "this is too Oedipal for me" romantic pairing.
* TheUnfavorite:
** Of all the Batman Sidekicks, I like Dick and Tim (and Carrie Kelley), Stephanie, then Damian and Jason in that order.

* DarthWiki/DethroningMomentOfSuck:
** BuffyTheVampireSlayer: See DisContinuity - the AttemptedRape of Buffy by Spike which I refuse to admit happened? Buffy cried and begged like a victim, when she should've thrown him through the wall and beat him within an inch of his undead life because she's the SLAYER!
** TrueBlood Season 3 was a little too full of rape for me. Not quite enough to make me quit the series. Yet.
** Series/Grimm Episode "Lonelyhearts" was one such for me. A nebbishy supernatural serial rapist. Enough to make me quit the series altogether.
** MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic: Sometimes they leave these kind of sub-lessons laid out, unintentionally. The "Mysterious Mare Do Well" episode (aside from that title) had the sub-lesson that it took the other Five of the Mane Six to outshine Rainbow Dash, and they only did it to teach her a lesson about being full of herself -- which they never bothered to talk to her about unless it happened offscreen.
*** Spike's DayInTheLimelight episode also hit me this way. I know the lesson they intended was "your family is who loves you and who you love, no matter where you come from," but the unintentional sub-lesson they showed was "your own kind are savages, nasty and classless. You're better off with us (even though we treat you like an indentured servant and you sleep in a bed on the floor like a cat or dog)" which leaves a nasty UnfortunateImplications taste of racism in my mouth, bigtime.
** OnceUponATime: They spent too much time hitting me over the head with the fact that Mayor Regina/Evil Queen is EVIL with a capital E. By the time they tried to do the whole Woobie thing with her, I had already had it cemented, and nothing they could show about her sad past would make me feel any better about her. Ruined for me what was beginning to look like a good series.
* MoralEventHorizon in RealLife: There are a few people whose stuff I just will never support. I won't give them a dime of my money.
** RussellCrowe: I know marriages in Hollywood are a dime a dozen but it really bugged me that he broke up Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan.
** Roman Polanski: He raped a thirteen year old girl, then ran from justice and is unrepentant about either of these things. He belongs in prison, not continuing to make movies and get accolades for his genius.
** MelGibson: Used to be a fan, but between the anti-Semitic rants and the racist rants and the misogynist rants, I can't in good conscience keep supporting him.
*** WhoopiGoldberg for supporting him and Mel Gibson, like the fact that they're both great guys counteracts their terrible and criminal behaviour.
** SethRogen: ObserveAndReport had a rape scene PlayedForLaughs. I know actors gotta work but really, standards. I don't need to see anything this guy does if he's okay with portraying a rapist (even if it's justifed because he's a hero in his own mind).
** AdamSandler: is getting very close to ending up on this list. The misogynistic bit in Film/JackAndJill where he praises his son for punching his sister in the face is not cool to me, and there are only a couple of his other movies worth watching more than once.
** Chris Brown: Unrepentant domestic violence perpetrator.

* AvatarTheLastAirbender: Katara/Zuko, Sokka/Suki. Not that they let the first one happen.
* Ben10UltimateAlien: Kevin and Gwen. I'm indifferent to the Ben/Julie pairing though impressed that Julie is Japanese.
* Chuck: Chuck/Sarah
* Cupid Trevor/Claire from the original run with Jeremy Piven.
* DoctorWho: Let's just say I do not like Rose.
* Firefly: Zoe/Wash, Mal/Inara, but I think Kaylee could do better than Simon.
* HarryPotter: I find the Harry/Ginny thing way Squick too Oedipal, for comfort thanks. I know it's canon. Remus/Tonks.
* Heroes Hiro/Charlie. He's a TimeTraveler. They could fix it and ...sigh, they didn't go in that direction. That was messed up.
* KimPossible: Kim/Ron
* PhineasAndFerb:
** Candace/Jeremy
** Phineas/Isabella - provided Phineas ever gets the wake up call.
** Ferb/Vanessa
** Stacy/Coltrane - interracial relationship for the win!
* Misfits: Simon/Alisha. I liked Curtis/Nikki too, but I understand the actress left the show so they couldn't bring her back.
* LegionOfSuperHeroes Ultra Boy/Phantom Girl and Bouncing Boy/Triplicate Girl/Duo Damsel
* PushingDaisies: Ned/Chuck
* X-Men Jean/Scott, although I'm learning to tolerate Scott/Emma. Storm/Gambit. I hate Gambit/Rogue.
** I am probably going to have to learn to live with *twitch* Ororo/T'Challa. I didn't like Ororo/Forge either. Yay, the Ororo/T'Challa marriage got annulled (which is a sleazy way to break them up but at least they're together).
** Jamie/Layla for X-Factor. I like Rahne/Rictor better than Rictor/Shatterstar.

...among others, as she only just decided on a whim to do a Contributor page after months of troper-participation.

As a troper, Paradisca Corbasi tends to be a Splitter rather than a Combiner. She also is neutral on the Sub vs. Dub debate.

Paradisca Corbasi gets her best inspiration to edit/update pages and generate new YKTTWs while watching TV and movies, so when you see a burst of activity from her, you know what she's been up to. How's that for geeky?

I know actors gotta work but really, standards. I don't need to see anything this guy does if he's okay with portraying a rapist (even if it's justifed because he's a hero in his own mind).

** Roman Polanski: He raped a thirteen year old girl. girl, then ran from justice and is unrepentant about either of these things. He belongs in prison, not continuing to make movies and get accolades for his genius.

** TrueBlood Season 3 was a little too full of rape for me. Not quite enough to make me quit the series. Yet.
** Series/Grimm Episode "Lonelyhearts" was one such for me. A nebbishy supernatural serial rapist. Enough to make me quit the series altogether.
