* TheOtherDarrin: Normally, Creator/JoeMantegna voices Fat Tony. However, for this episode, Creator/PhilHartman (who already spent most of the episode as Troy [=McClure=]) voiced Fat Tony. The producers chose not to bring Mantegna in due to the part being so small they believed he wouldn't want to do it. After the episode aired, Mantegna informed them that he would ''always'' make time to voice Fat Tony, no matter the size of his part in the story, and has done so since.

* CreatorsFavoriteEpisode: The writing staff has talked about how much fun they had writing ''Stop The Planet Of the Apes, I Want To Get Off!'', citing "I hate every ape I see, from chimpan-A to chimpan-Z" (which David X. Cohen came up with) as one of the greatest lines of the entire series. Several of the writers had been big ''Franchise/PlanetOfTheApes'' fans growing up, though at the time, showrunner Josh Weinstein [[PopCultureOsmosis only knew the plot of the original movie]] from a ''Magazine/{{Mad}}'' magazine parody.

In the same scene, another diner snarks, "I ordered a Zima, not ''emphysema''." Zima was discontinued in 2008.

** Troy's bachelor party, which includes a name-drop of another of Troy's old movies. Abe shows the patrons a film. The film is about the Heine-Ho Nudist colony where activities are done naked. Homer complains that it's just nude people and demands a film with mature themes and adult situations. Barney then agrees with Homer.
