* FandomNod: During ''VideoGame/TheSubspaceEmissary'' LP, they make a nod to Chugga's {{Flanderized}} love of wearing polo shirts, which he even turns into a CargoShip moment. "STOP TRYING TO MAKE OUT WITH POLO SHIRTS!"[[note]]Chugga was allegedly making kissing motions at the TV, which he claims was in reaction to [[VideoGame/{{Mother3}} Lucas]] and [[{{VideoGame/Earthbound}} Ness]].[[/note]]

** In the ''Smash 64'' tournament, LetsPlay/AttackingTucans shares the same name as Tyler from [[{{LetsPlay/WiiRikeToPray}} WiiLikeToPlay]].

* PromotedFanboy: Emile, Masae, and Adriana are big fans of ''WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}'', with the latter even covering some of its songs on her channel. In Colosseum Direct, they (alongside the rest of their friends) had the privilege of playing ''VideoGame/AnimalCrossingNewHorizons'' with Lindsay Jones, voice of Ruby.

* LyingCreator: In ''Mario Party 3'', the guys brought up the issue of DK no longer being playable in ''Mario Party 5''. When they headed into the mini game room and Emile started talking in Toad's voice, Jon said "Yes, its exactly what you think it means", implying that Emile would play as Toad in ''[=MP5=]''. Come ''[=MP5=]'', Emile picked Daisy instead. When they played Future Dream where Toad was the A.I., Emile said that Toad was indeed going to be his new character, but due to playing ''Mario Party 6'' on Jon's channel and making several (accidental) innuendos involving Daisy, Emile changed his mind and decided to play as her instead. Emile finally played as Toad in ''Mario Party 7''.

* ThrowItIn: The clip of [=FamilyJules=] [[EyeScream spraying himself in the eye with hairspray]] during the Colosseum 2019 intro was off-script, but the take was used anyways in the final product.

** Frequent TRG Colosseum [=FamilyJules=] actually is named Jules Conroy in real life, leading to him jokingly accusing Chugga (whose real name is ''not'' Conroy) of trying to steal his name.

** The third and fourth Runaway Guys Colosseums don't have the various collaborators meeting up in one location owing to the virus outbreak that had been occurring in 2020.

** Some games were planned for the TRG Colosseum, but didn't make it to the final list. Among these cut games include but not limited to ''Fighter Maker'', ''[[VideoGame/TheJackboxPartyPack Jackbox]]'', and ''Kirby's Dream Course''.

* RealLifeWritesThePlot: The third Runaway Guys Colosseum doesn't have the various collaborators meeting up in one location owing to the virus outbreak that has been occurring in 2020.
