* NewWorkRecycledGraphics: The game recycles many assets from ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime Ocarina of Time]]'', most notably character models. However, it gets the most out of this by giving most characters very different names and personalities from their Hyrulean counterparts. A less effective implementation of this is the arch at the entrance to Romani Ranch, which is the same as the arch at the entrance to Kakariko Village in ''Ocarina of Time''. This wouldn't be so bad if the Hylian text on the sign didn't translate to "Welcome to Kakariko Village''. The 3DS remake fixes this, however.

** Shigeru Miyamoto told ''Famitsu'' that there was going to be an enhanced fishing mini-game. In the game, Link would be fishing for the legendary Jabu-Jabu--the Terminan version of the whale/fish deity from ''Ocarina of Time'' of the same name. If he managed to catch the giant fish [[RealityWarper truly bizarre things would happen, such as halting the fall of the Moon, or rupees raining from the sky]]. The fishing minigame would later be implemented in the remake, and it ''is'' possible to catch a rare fish that resembles a smaller Jabu-Jabu named "Lord Chapu-Chapu," though nothing spectacular happens when you do.

* SerendipityWritesThePlot: As noted above, the developers only had a year to complete the game (which is very short compared to the other ''Zelda'' games), forcing them to reuse models from ''Ocarina of Time'' while justifying this in that ''Majora's Mask'' is set in a BizarroUniverse of [=OoT=].

Added DiffLines:

* UrbanLegendOfZelda: There are still some people who believe that the Fierce Deity Mask is called the Oni Mask in Japanese, because of the Majora child's dialog at the end of the game. The game of tag he asks you to play (or "good guys and bad guys" in dialogue) is called ''onigokko'' - "playing an oni" - in Japanese. However, the mask itself is called the Kishin Mask on the item screen and in its description.
