Creator/EdwardNorton had this to say about the film:

Added DiffLines:

** Creator/KevinFeige did not particularly enjoy working with Norton on this film, as he didn't like Norton's behavior behind the scenes. This led to Norton becoming one of the very few PersonaNonGrata actors within the MCU.

The description is too vague to claim that it’s a star derailing role. It’s not “at worst” for an actor to only get supporting roles. Norton also doesn’t see himself as a traditional celebrity, so it’s a debatable example.

* StarDerailingRole: This movie was a moderate success, but it was also the last starring role for Creator/EdwardNorton in a much bigger production, because afterwards he would at best be casted for smaller roles in bigger movies and at worst get bigger roles in smaller movies. He's had incredible success with other, smaller films and seems comfortable with that.

** The same happens in the Japanese dub, as Creator/KenjiNomura reprised his role as Hulk from the dub of ''WesternAnimation/TheIncredibleHulk1996''.

* ScrewedByTheLawyers: The Hulk has the dubious distinction of being the one hero with his own solo movie that was introduced in Phase One... and ''not'' given a sequel in Phase Two and Three. All subsequent appearances of the Hulk or Bruce Banner have been full appearances in the first four ''Avengers'' movies and ''Film/ThorRagnarok'', and cameos in ''Film/IronMan3'', ''Film/CaptainAmericaCivilWar'', and ''Film/CaptainMarvel2019''. Part of the reason for this is that Universal still had the distribution rights to the character's solo films until June 2023, when it expired and resulted in the film becoming available on Creator/DisneyPlus, so Disney/Marvel Studios could only put him into the Avengers movies.
