** Bernadette's second pregnancy less than a year after giving birth to Halley was due to Melissa Rauch's real life pregnancy. Bernadette was put on bed rest in the show to accommodate Melissa's reduced role in the various episodes, usually yelling at Howard off screen or people coming to visit her.

Added DiffLines:

* HideYourPregnancy: Bernadette's second pregnancy was written into the show to accommodate Melissa Rauch's own pregnancy. For flashbacks in "The Bitcoin Entanglement" back to season three Bernadette was set behind the bar at the Cheesecake Factory as she was not supposed to be pregnant then (she was never shown working that station before, but amusingly a similar trick was used when Kaley broke her leg in the fourth season).

** The actors who play Leonard and Leslie previously played David and Darlene on Series/Roseanne. Sheldon's mother is played by Laurie Metcalf, also from Roseanne. Christine Baranski co-starred in Cybill, also written/produced by Chuck Lorre (who was writer/producer for Roseanne).

**
With Series/ModernFamily, as both are the most successful sitcoms of the 21st century. TBBT gets more viewers, but is generally regarded as predictable and crude, and old-fashioned with its laugh track. Modern Family, on the other hand, gets less viewers, but is highly acclaimed, and is praised for its heart-warming and hilarious portrayal of life, whilst being a mockumentary.
** Also with
Series/Community as well as and Series/TheITCrowd, due to the focus on geekdom.

Added DiffLines:

* SleeperHit: The show opened to mediocre reviews (some of which were very harsh) and this was after a highly disliked original pilot. But the show built up some steam and when it came back after the TVStrikes 2007 Writers Strike it managed to actually improve in quality, unlike a lot of other shows. The ratings gradually increased until they took a small hit moving from Mondays to Thursdays in the fourth season, but after a UsefulNotes/syndication deal they started breaking records as a scripted show, they are the first since Series/Friends to dethrone ratings giants like Series/AmericanIdol.

* RealLifeWritesThePlot:
** Penny was missing from a few episodes of season four due to Kaley having a broken leg in a horse riding accident. When she does return she is notably stationary, either sitting or standing in the same place and the camera stays above her knee. She was also seen behind the bar at the Cheesecake Factory more often.
** Amy was DemotedToExtra for a number of episodes in season seven due to Mayim wanting more time to take care of her ailing father. A number of episodes she shows up just for a skype chat with Sheldon.
** Bernadette's second pregnancy less than a year after giving birth to Halley was due to Melissa Rauch's real life pregnancy.

** The show originated under two different concepts, one being Bill Prady's experience working with a group of eccentric computer programmers back in the 1980s and another under the idea of a young woman entering the real world of finding a job and making new friends. Realizing the key to both shows was on the secondary cast providing some contrast they decided on their own XMeetsY and combined them. After that they decided to move the genius nerds away from computers and make them scientists instead, pushing them outside a comfort zone.

** Given its still currently running, has syndication deals and concurrent cable syndication, you'd think its required by law that some channel be running this show 24 hours a day.

** Sara Gilbert appears throughout the series as Leslie Winkle, a sort of friend-with-benefits for Leonard. She and Johnny Galecki (Leonard) played supporting roles on Series/Roseanne, in which they played a couple (eventually married) with essentially the same dynamics of passive guy/sarcastic dominating girl.
