** The main trailer had Bullwinkle making more contemporary cultural references such as to "Wassah?", shouting "[[Film/{{Titanic}} I'm king of the world]]!" during the car chase, and [[NonSequiturThud saying]] "[[Series/WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire I'd like to use one of my lifelines please]]" when crashing the plane in Washington.

* StarDerailingRole: Served as this for Jason Alexander and Rene Russo, who played the Boris and Natasha duo. This was part of a string of critical/financial flops for Alexander, and Russo appeared in several more bombs before abruptly retiring from acting in 2005, and she would not return until playing Film/{{Thor}}'s mother Frigga in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

* OldShame: Creator/JasonAlexander issued a public apology for his part in this movie.

* ProducedByCastmember: In addition to playing live action Fearless Leader, Creator/RobertDeNiro also produced (and provided partial financing) the movie because [[PromotedFanBoy he was such a big fan of the original cartoon series]].

* BoxOfficeBomb: With a $76 million (''$98.6 million'' when marketing costs are counted), and a gross of $35 million, the film holds the dubious honor of being the most expensive animated/live-action hybrid box office failure of all time.

* AshcanCopy: The film was made quickly so that Universal could hold on to the film rights to Jay Ward's ''Rocky and Bullwinkle'' franchise (Disney had the ''George of the Jungle'' film license and had released their film several years earlier). After this film and the earlier ''Film/DudleyDoRight'' movie flopped, Universal just gave up. They would eventually reobtain the rights to ''Rocky and Bullwinkle'' and its spinoffs when they purchased co-copyright holders (with the Jay Ward estate) [=DreamWorks=] Animation with their [=DreamWorks=] Classics/Classic Media division in 2016.

* CrossdressingVoices: Like June Foray before her, Rocky is voiced by an adult woman, Creator/TaraStrong.

* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: Averted for the most part, but played awkwardly straight with the very late-90's {{Cyberspace}} segment in the climax.

* RemakeCameo: An unintentional example: Creator/TomKenny, who played Bullwinkle in the 2014 short, plays Colonel Boudreaux.

* ProductionPosse: Many people who worked with Scott Fellows on ''WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents'', ''WesternAnimation/JohnnyTest'', and ''Series/BigTimeRush'' worked with him on this series. Likewise, many people who worked on ''WesternAnimation/TheNewMrPeabodyAndShermanShow'' joined again for this series.

* TheOtherDarrin: No one from the 2014 short film got to reprise their roles (though Tom Kenny did play a minor character in this series), but this was absolutely necessary for Rocky, thanks to the [[AuthorExistenceFailure actor existence failure]] of Creator/JuneForay. (He's now played by Creator/TaraStrong.)

** Besides voicing Bullwinkle, Keith Scott voices the narrator, as well as the animated versions of Fearless Leader and Boris Badenov.
