According to Mike Vogel, the showrunner for the ''Berry in the Big City'' web series, [=WildBrain=] were unsure about the redesign, and the CGI look shown off would end up being retooled into what would become ''Berry in the Big City''.

* RefittedForSequel: The concept designs for Strawberry Shortcake, Lime Chiffon, and Blueberry Muffin from the scrapped 2017 reboot were reused for ''Berry in the Big City'', remaining mostly the same with slight differences in their outfits, such as the addition of a jean jacket and longer hair for Strawberry. The Purple Pieman and Plum Pudding's character designs are likewise reused, but with no visible alterations.
* {{Retronym}}: On the official Strawberry Shortcake [=YouTube=] channel, uploads of the 2003 series have been titled "Strawberry Shortcake Classic", likely to distinguish itself from the other series.

* TrollingCreator: Michael Vogel, executive producer of ''Berry in the Big City'', is not above this from time to time.
** When someone replied to a tweet of his with a (presumably) joking outrage at the lack of [[WesternAnimation/Robot Chicken Bitch Pudding]], Michael replied that [[https://x.com/mktoon/status/1459582515866267649?s=20 she and Bread Pudding are actually distant cousins.]]
** When asked if Dr. Lime Pops' name is based on lime lollipops or lime popsicles, He said [[https://x.com/mktoon/status/1767671475526595057?s=20 "You would have to ask his parents"]]

** The ''Girl's Tales'' podcast stories didn't specify who voiced the characters, only listing the actors who were in the episode. However, Rebecca Cunningham, the producer of ''Girl's Tales'', did clarify the voice roles upon contacting her.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** The 2017 reboot wasn't that well received, ''to put it mildly''. Announced in 2016, the reboot was to feature redesigned characters rendered in CGI as with the 2009 series, but the promotional renders put off a lot of fans, with some comparing the character designs unfavourably with Vanellope from ''WesternAnimation/WreckItRalph''. Likely as a result of this, [=WildBrain=] retooled the series in favour of a 2D animated incarnation, even going so far as to purge most if not all traces of the failed reboot from their official literature.
** Johnnycake Cobbler, a recurring antagonist in Berry in the Big City, was not originally planned as a character, as Michael Vogel didn't want to introduce more new characters in Season 1. However, the instant Shannon McClung pitched the character he was quickly introduced into the series.
* WordOfGay: As Raisin Cane's pronouns are not actually mentioned in ''Berry in the Big City'', their voice actor, Justin Saint, ended up confirming Raisin was nonbinary on their Twitter.

* ChannelHop: In Asia, the 2003 series actually moved to Boomerang after Creator/{{Hasbro}} took back the master rights of the franchise from Creator/PlaymatesToys, due to Hasbro's meddling (Prior to this, the show aired on Playhouse Disney Asia, and before Playhouse Disney Asia was launched, Disney Asia as part of the Playhouse Disney slot). This actually resulted in tons of inconvenience and made the show unavailable to Malaysia and other countries that do not have access to Boomerang, since Season 4 was never released on home video in Malaysia (and it's probably safe to assume the same, if not the entire series, in other countries).
