Names The Same is no longer a trope

!Specific trivia:
* NamesTheSame: The BigBad in ''The Mole, the Mob, and the Meatball'' is Ted E. Bear. Not to be confused with the protagonist of the same name in the holiday specials "The Bear Who Slept Through Christmas" and "The Great Bear Scare". Ventriloquist David Strassman also has a puppet named Ted E. Bear.

!!The Franchise as a Whole
* HeAlsoDid: Yep, this is the same Steve Purcell who co-directed {{Brave}}.
* HeyItsThatVoice: More details below, but every entry that ever had voice acting will have at least a few recognizable voices.
* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: Almost every incarnation went through this at least once.
* NamesTheSame: Though they're both short, cute white rabbits, confusing Max for [[MaxAndRuby the OTHER lagomorph Max]] could be [[WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids potentially disastrous.]]
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Around the early 90's or so, Steve Purcell received an offer from Marvel to produce Sam & Max comic strips for them. He declined, opting instead for LucasArts and Hit The Road. Who knows what might have happened if he had taken them up on their offer?
* According to Steve Purcell's blog, [[http://samandmaxblog.blogspot.com/2011/02/what-kind-of-dog-is-that.html Sam is an Irish Wolfhound]].

* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: Suffered this for years after a paperback release. Luckily, that paperback was reissued, and is currently available on Telltale's website.

!![[WesternAnimation/SamAndMaxFreelancePolice The Cartoon]]
* ExecutiveMeddling: The changing of "The Geek" into a girl, from the fairly standard male nerd design he had in the Series Bible, because the executives wanted a major female cast member. In fact, the executives suggested turning Max into a girl. In regard to the firearms, however, it worked out better; in lieu of handguns, the two used bazookas, flamethrowers, and tanks at the drop of a hat. WordOfGod was that this was a change for the better.
* HeyItsThatVoice: Sam is [[WesternAnimation/SuperMarioBros King Koopa]], Max is [[Anime/SailorMoon Rubeus]] and [[WesternAnimation/{{Cyberchase}} Delete,]] Lorne is [[Series/TheRedGreenShow Harold Green]], and the Geek is Anime/SailorMoon herself (well, the [[TheOtherDarrin first one, at least]]).
* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: It wasn't until the GameTap and DVD releases that it got out of this.
* RecursiveAdaptation: The show had its own comic books back when ''Fox Kids'' had a magazine, the show of course being adapted from Steve Purcell's comics.

* AbridgedSeries: Found [[http://www.youtube.com/user/RetelltaleGames here]].
* ActorAllusion: Not the first time Roger L. Jackson has voiced [[WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls a villainous primate.]]
* FanNickname: After his DirtyHarry style makeover, Sam became [[http://www.telltalegames.com/community/blogs/id-630 Noir Sam.]] It's starting to verge on MemeticMutation.
** With a bit of Subversion: the nickname comes from the name of the file of the design when was first presented in the Private Forum by Telltale: ''sam_noir2 copy.jpg''
** [[spoiler:Maxthulu or Stitch Max]] for Max's [[spoiler:Transformation into an EldritchAbomination]] at the end of Episode 304.
* HeyItsThatVoice: Sam in "Hit the Road" is {{Goofy}} [[ClassicDisneyShorts and Pluto]].
** Probably it's no surprise to hear ''VideoGame/TalesOfMonkeyIsland'' voice actors in the Telltale Games Series and vice-versa, but, Majus, the voice of Guybrush in the ''I wonder what will happen in VideoGame/TalesOfMonkeyIsland'' series of Flash Videos, animated by himself, voices an in game character in "They Stole Max's Brain!", who happens to be an European Tourist.
** Andrew Chaikin (A.K.A. Kid Beyond), the first person to give ''Webcomic/PennyArcade'''s Tycho Brahe a voice, voiced Max in episode 101 (he was later replaced by William Kasten due to health problems), and later returned in Season 3 as the voice of [[spoiler:Superego]] (the narrator), Papierwaite, and one of the molemen.
** Max in the German dub of "Hit the Road" is [[TheSimpsons Bart Simpson]].
* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: ''Hit The Road'' has yet to see a rerelease in this day and age.
* TheOtherDarrin: Andrew Chaikin plays Max in Episode 101, but (apparently due to health reasons) was replaced by William Kasten. As of Season 3, Chaikin is back, but instead of playing Max, he plays The Narrator. [[spoiler:Which is kind of playing Max anyway -- the Narrator is actually Max's long-dormant superego.]]
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: The [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JiPISwKoovE trailer]] and assorted leaked clips for the canceled sequel are floating around on Website/YouTube. Prior to that, a different splinter studio of ex LucasArts people, Infinite Machine, were working on concepts for a game titled ''[[http://www.samandmax.net/wiki/Sam_%26_Max_Plunge_Through_Space Sam And Max Plunge Through Space]]'', but they went bankrupt before it went into production.
