** Togashi's comments in the author's section of ''Shonen Jump'' in 2016 are downright depressing and sorrowful, with him complaining about being in pain and generally miserable. It's no surprise he went back on hiatus sometime later.

* ExtremelyLengthyCreation: As of 2011, Yoshihiro Togashi has been drawing it for 10 years and is still not finished. It is not a particularly lengthy series compared to its ''Magazine/ShonenJump'' brethren, but rather, Togashi took so many long breaks, one of which was 15 months, that it has taken this long to make it.

** As of 2017, even though the series is not nearly as long as typical LongRunner, it's currently the only other pre-2000 manga besides ''Manga/OnePiece'' to still be serialized in ''Weekly Shounen Jump'', making ''Hunter x Hunter'' the second oldest series that is currently in ''WSJ''. If you compare its age with other series running in ''WSJ'', ''Manga/GinTama'' (2003) is the third oldest and every other series premiered in 2012 and later.

** The manga itself has come to be known as [[SeriesHiatus HiatusXHiatus]].

* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Brendan Hunter, the dub actor for Hisoka in the 99' anime, expressed interest in reprising the role for Viz's dub of the 2011 version. Considering his performance was seen as a highlight of that particular dub, it would've been interesting to say the least. Unfortunately, Viz decided to play it safe and cast Creator/KeithSilverstein instead.

** Togashi mentioned in a discussion after returning from his Hiatus in 2017 that he originally planned for [[spoiler: Machi to also get killed by Hisoka, alongside Shalnark and Kortopi, after his fight with Chrollo. Togashi decided to leave her as a survivor because he felt the narrative would have better stakes if she returned to the Phantom Troupe as a messenger.]]

* TroubledProduction: The Colombian Spanish dub suffered of many problems during its production: Besides of having a very irregular quality, the script of the dub was ''plagiarized'' from a fansub, complete with [[TooLongDidtDub honorifics and all]]. ''Unlike'' what happened with the other Latin American dubs who used plagiarized scripts (like the Mexican Spanish dubs of the first ''Manga/DetectiveConan'' movies, who where caught red-handed with this), they dubbed '''the whole first TV series and the [=OVAs=]''' with those scripts with no problems whatsoever with the Japanese licensors, who normally are very strict about using non-official translations for dubs.
