Does not take place. Appears to be a rather bungled retelling on a blooper (that was removed) where Andrew Sachs briefly breaks character after flubbing his line and calling it a "pigeon", in which the above take place but with "rat" switched for "pigeon". But yeah the point is, this is wrong.

* ThrowItIn: The series mostly kept to the script, although there was one case here, where Basil and Manuel are busy talking about a rat, with Manuel denying that it is a hamster. Normally, he speaks in broken English, but in one instance mutters, in perfect English, "It's not a rat, it's a hamster!". The shock on Creator/JohnCleese's face is priceless, and as a result it's become rather memetic.

* TroubledProduction: A rare positive example. Due to industrial action the broadcast of this episode was delayed for several months. The crew used this to their advantage by getting extra recording time out of the BBC [including having two sessions with different audiences] to make a more polished product.
