* ExecutiveMeddling: After the major success of "Love to Love You Baby", Summer's label, Casablanca Records, wanted her to act as a sex symbol. Initially, despite unease, Summer went with the public image and followed the label's every instruction on what to wear, how to act and even what doctors and lawyers to use. This eventually led to CreatorBreakdown, and after recovery, Summer changed labels to Creator/GeffenRecords and became a born-again Christian.

* BigNameFan: Despite being critical of {{disco}} during its heyday (attributing it to the rapid homogenization of its sound compared to its influences), Music/DavidBowie was hugely enthusiastic about Summer's "I Feel Love", as was collaborator Music/BrianEno, who rushed over to him with a copy of the single during the recording sessions for ''Music/HeroesDavidBowieAlbum'' and dubbed it "the sound of the future." Eno enthusiastically and correctly predicted that it would come to define the sound of the nightclub scene for the next 15 years.
