The fact the movie [[AdaptationalAlternateEnding changes the ending of the first book]] so much [[spoiler: to the point of seemingly ''killing off the trilogy's main villain'']] doesn't help, as this would drastically alter the overarching plot of ''The Ask and the Answer'' and ''Monsters of Men'' (though subsequently ''Chaos Walking'' mostly works as a standalone feature).
