** Hajime wakes up at 9 AM and gets a Valentine's gift from a very excited Hibiki. She has taken the liberty of organizing a schedule for him, revealing at what times he should see each of his partners. This is something that the Cuddle Puddle cooked up together to make sure that Hajime gets to spend time with everyone. Hajime thanks her.
** Hiroshi is trying to find a new job.
** After Hajime leaves, Hibiki panics to Keiko that she wants to make Valentine's chocolate, but doesn't know how. Keiko agrees to teach her.
** At 11 AM, Hajime meets up with Chiaki. She gives him chocolate, they play video games together at the fountain where they first met, and they reminisce about their relationship. Chiaki still regrets how she treated her family at first, and Hajime still has anxiety about Chiaki's Tragedy timeline death, but the two promise to get through it all together. They kiss, cuddle, and share the chocolate.
** Nagito is trying to buy soda (and predictably failing) when he runs into Kanata. Together, they go to the dorms, where Kanata confides to her fiance that she is frustrated when people assume that she's a little girl because of her appearance, and he assures her that he finds her attractive and doesn't think of her as a child at all. As a little surprise for him, she wears a bunny outfit. The two express their devotion for each other after all they've been through, then settle down and watch movies together.
** At 1 PM, Hajime meets up with Hiyoko. She is now over 150 cm tall and has a brand new outfit for the occasion. She gives him chocolate, but it is very poorly made thanks to a recipe she misread online, so Hajime nearly passes out trying to eat it. They go to the zoo together.
** At the zoo, Tamami feeds a baby rhino. The zookeeper encourages her to let him handle it and go out and have fun on Valentine's Day.
** Iroha is now part of Red Ribbon, and Makoto recognizes her in a magazine, but his classmates don't believe that they are dating until she calls him and confirms it on speakerphone, roasting his doubting classmates in the process. (She and her siblings have their place set up now, and Hitaru is looking into adopting Jataro.) Sayaka joins the call, and she has been feeling much better since the charity event. The three chat happily about their relationship and their ideas for Valentine's Day, and just as they're considering inviting Tamami as well, she calls. The girls encourage Makoto to ask her out, since it's what he needs, what with how overwhelming this has all been for him. So he asks Tamami on a date (just the two of them) while also explaining the Hope Brigade. She accepts and says that she'll come by his house so they can plan where to go.
** Tamami shows up at Makoto's door sometime later. She's never been asked out before, so she's a little nervous about the proper protocol, especially since she's not the best with people, but she trusts Makoto. They decide to go to the arcade, and they hold hands on the way there. Iroha sends Tamami a text giving her blessing and hoping they have a good time.
** Over at Red Ribbon, Iroha's doing modeling work and getting advice from Fushimi when Hitaru and Jataro show up to say hi. The Nijiue siblings have all been enjoying their newfound freedom and are eagerly awaiting their new house. Their parents' trial is starting soon, and Ernesto will be their lawyer. Jataro tells the group about a former friend of his from Hope's Peak Elementary, Otoha Yasuda, who used to make food for him, causing him to believe that they were married. However, he chickened out of the "marriage" because of his role as the Priest and because he thought his face would make her eyes explode, so he "divorced" her by writing her a letter telling her to get out of his school. Everyone else finds this hilarious. Iroha offers to help Jataro get back in touch with Otoha. Hitaru is having some pain issues with her scars, but is doing great otherwise; she's giving everyone who helped her family, including Fushimi, chocolate as thanks. As the three leave, Hitaru prepares to make a phone call.
** At 3:03, Hajime meets Mikan and Kotoko at the Hama-Rikyu Gardens. Mikan is wearing a lovely new dress for the occasion. She gives Hajime chocolate that she and Kotoko made together. They walk through the gardens, and Kotoko expresses her desire to help with charities for HIV while also telling Hajime and Mikan about how she hung out with a boy her age (named Masashi) at the movies. She's also been thinking about getting back into acting to help her family. Privately, Mikan reflects on her relationship with Kotoko and how far both of them have come, and Hajime compliments her on her parenting skills. He wants to start looking for a job of his own so he can provide for his future family. Mikan, meanwhile, wants to be the best mom she can be to all her children, both current and future, and she doesn't want to wait too long to start that family. Hajime also gives Kotoko permission to call him "Papa" if she wants, and he and Mikan promise that they'll be there to help her no matter what.
** Nagisa tells Setsuka and Umeko about a girl he knew once at school, and the two wonder if perhaps they should look into finding a school for the Warriors of Hope to attend. They hear a knock at the door and find a robot pony called Hamoponi, created by Sunako, who has come to give Nagisa a present for Valentine's Day. With his moms' encouragement, Nagisa asks Sunako out, and the two (along with Hamoponi) go to spend time at a bookstore together.
** Monaca is seriously regretting her decision to age herself up and asks Kyoji to turn her back into a child. After much pleading, Kyoji considers transdifferentiation as an option, and says that he will look into it. Monaca also misses her friends and wants to make amends with them. She also reminds Kyoji that Kanade can't stay with them forever. She's still studying the robots, but she's pretty sure they're from the future.

* '''February 7:''' Hajime wakes up at 4:26 AM from his nightmares. Realizing he can’t escape the truth, he makes his decision.
** Keiko, worried about Hajime, asks Hibiki to accompany him for the day.
** That afternoon, at the Void Warehouse, Hajime (after receiving some comfort from Hibiki) walks in on Nikei and Masa arguing over the information about Takeharu that Masa uncovered. Apparently, they did some digging, and they found out that Takeharu had a wife named Eiko, who died in childbirth last June. The baby allegedly also died, but Masa doubts it, as the formula Takeharu was fetching was actually baby formula. Kyoji and Masa currently suspect that Marin Mizuta, who Chiaki saw on TV in 2030, is Takeharu’s daughter. Nikei doesn’t care and still wants Takeharu dead. An annoyed Masa reveals that when she tried to help Nikei when he was younger, he told her to kill herself and called her part of the problem. She storms off, and Nikei admits that he did that, as he thought that she wasn’t doing enough to stop terrible people, but he knows better now and regrets it. He reveals that he got the 2030 crew to show him what happens in the bad future that they saw, and he gets it now; it’s part of the reason why he’s so gung-ho about killing the Despairs. He won’t tell everyone until after the current mission, though (which he intends to go on, along with Erina and Taira). Hajime, meanwhile, has made his decision: he still doesn’t want the Quantum Crew to kill, but he’ll allow it if and only if there are truly no better options. But he still thinks it’s best to look for those better options first.
** Hajime talks to Masa, and she agrees to go on the Mizuta mission as well. She admits that she doesn’t think Nikei is a bad journalist, it’s just that he needs to think ahead sometimes and remember that these stories contain the lives of real people. Nikei comes out and promises her that he won’t strong-arm the operation.
** Back at Hope’s Peak, Harumi tries to talk with Chiaki, as she needs her testimony about the charity event, but they’re interrupted by multiple crises. For one, Taro’s parents have been charged with drug smuggling and distribution to children; although the drugs in question are prescription medications that were being given to kids who needed them, it’s still against Japanese law, so they’re going to prison. Taro will stay with Yuka for now, and will even use her last name to avoid public shame. Tsubasa admits that she is not actually the Ultimate Botanist but is simply holding the title for her friend Santa while he goes on an unspecified mission; she’s actually the Ultimate Child Psychologist, and she suspects the Steering Committee had her accept his deal so that she wouldn’t find out about the Elementary Division. She also wants to speak to Kotoko at some point. Harumi assures both students that they will not be in any trouble, and she even floats the possibility of helping Taro’s parents avoid jail time.
** A CPS agent named Hisako Yasuda has gotten involved to reinvestigate the Elementary Division cases; her own daughter was once a Lil’ Ultimate herself. Her husband was murdered by Kanade, and Chiaki assures Harumi that they’ll send Kanade back to prison once the Despairs are taken care of. Chiaki herself is also going through a lot of turmoil over the recent revelations regarding the Mizuta family, wondering if it’s truly okay for them to kill someone’s father.
** Meanwhile, Teruteru gets reamed out by Kojikoji and Yokoyoko about the soup incident. He swears that he wasn’t the one who put the aphrodisiac in the soup and was only going to use it to spice up a consensual encounter, but the twins point out that the fact that he even had it in the first place is not a good look for him or their family. Hiyoko arrives and admits that she was the one who actually used the aphrodisiac, and Yokoyoko slaps her in the face. Hiyoko is more sad than mad, as she’s been going around telling people the truth, and they’ve all been angry at her. Also, her father is disappointed in her, she feels terrible about herself, and she’s having suicidal thoughts. Harumi sends Hiyoko off to get comfort from her other partners, then reminds Chiaki that she can’t keep enabling her friends. She assures her that things will get better for them as long as they put in the work to be better.
** Chiaki takes the opportunity to ask for the Hanamuras’ help in the Takeharu mission. The twins agree, especially since they could use the money to help the family diner, and while Teruteru is worried, he lets them go after some convincing, but tells them to be careful.
** Hiyoko finds Mikan and Kotoko, who have both been trying to avoid the investigation. Mikan comforts Hiyoko, and they all hang out together. Meanwhile, Sonia comes out of her room and watches a movie with Gundham and Kikue.
** At 7:47, Nikei, Masa, Erina, Chiaki, Harumi, Kojikoji, Yokoyoko, and Taira gather for the mission. Taira has brought a lot of baby supplies. After a brief discussion about their plan, Taira decides that she will be the first to enter, on pretext of cleaning Takeharu’s house.
** Taira goes to Takeharu’s house, claiming to be complementary housekeeping. He lets her in on the condition that she doesn’t bother him, and he also tells her that one specific room is off-limits. Taira finds a picture of his late wife Eiko, and when asked, Takeharu speaks fondly of her but also says she would’ve been better off if they had never met. Taira tells him that even if he doesn’t think too much of himself, she did, and that she loved him and would want him to be happy, which makes him feel a bit better.
** Meanwhile, the rest of the group starts securing the exit points. Nikei admits to Erina that he’s worried about the possibility of Takeharu having a family; he’s conflicted and just wants to protect everyone. Erina hugs him. Nikei still finds it hard to trust people, but Chiaki reminds him that trust isn’t as easy as she makes it look, and that belief without doubt is simply a lie. She also points out that the Quantum Crew trusted him and his friends, and when Nikei replies that he doesn’t know why they were so supportive, she says they genuinely wanted to help them. She also agrees with Nikei that Shirogane must die, but doesn’t want anyone in the group to do it, especially given Hajime’s mindset, and she’s really worried about him. Harumi, meanwhile, doesn’t want to jump to any conclusions just yet. Nikei rants that it might as well be him who kills the Despairs, because he thinks he’s already a bad person since he’s killed before. Erina hugs him again and insists that she knows he doesn’t really feel that way.
** With the exits secured and everyone in position, the group knocks on Takeharu’s door. Harumi claims to be with the police here to talk with him about his company, but Takeharu tells her to come back with a warrant and slams the door in her face. Hearing this, Nikei breaks down the door and forces Takeharu to get on the ground at gunpoint, much to his teammates’ dismay. Taira assures them that he wasn’t going for a gun, and Takeharu quickly figures out that they’re with Kasugano. Then, they hear crying from the secret room. Despite Takeharu’s protests, Taira goes in, finds little 8-month-old Marin Mizuta crying in a crib, and comforts her. A pissed-off Takeharu threatens Nikei, but Erina protects him.
** The group makes it known that they know about Takeharu’s connections to the Despairs, and they ask to talk to him. Takeharu calms down and tells them his story. It started when the bubble economy burst, he lost his job and ended up in debt, and things seemed hopeless. But then, he met Junko, and she promised to help him get rich if he would help her in return. Sure enough, treasures started rolling in, and he became wealthy and successful, and he would send her cash in exchange to fund her plans. The treasures in question were retrieved by Mukuro, who looted them during her Fenrir escapades across the Middle East. She has all of his personal information, so he can’t back out, and the one time he tried to back out, she sent him a diamond ring with a finger attached and threatened him. His wife Eiko, who he met and married after he got mixed up with Junko, stood by him even after finding out the truth and promised to help him find a way out, but then she died in childbirth. Marin is in fact his daughter, and nobody knows she’s alive and with him, not even Junko. He’s been turning down promotions because he knows that Junko would want him to be promoted, and he was hoping to move somewhere out of the way.
** Apparently the next phase of the Despairs’ plan is to get rid of Tamami and Sofia, then bribe the Steering Committee into letting Junko and Mukuro attend Hope’s Peak without Jin’s approval. The investigation will make that harder for them, though.
** Hearing all this, the Quantum Crew offer to help Takeharu and Marin escape, even suggesting witness protection, but Takeharu is convinced that Junko will find them anyway, and even if she doesn’t, he doesn’t want that life for Marin. He figures that the Quantum Crew’s only hope is if he disappears completely, buying them just enough time to take down Shirogane and cripple the Despairs. To that end, he tells the group to take Marin so that she can have a better, happier life. Erina agrees to adopt her. Takeharu gives his 80 million yen in cash to the Hanamura twins, and will transfer the rest of the money in his accounts to the Quantum Crew while making it look like a glitch in the system. Chiaki wants to give some of the money to the Owaris as well.
** This is all too much for Nikei, who has to go out and sit on the curb for a while. At first, it seems that he’s upset that he was wrong, but it turns out that he’s actually upset because he feels bad for Takeharu and wishes his own father treated him the way Takeharu treats Marin. Taira and Erina hug him, and Masa says that the fact that he feels this way now says more about him than what he was suggesting before, and that ultimately, Junko is to blame for Takeharu’s situation. She also hints that her opinion of Nikei has improved. With Nikei set to become Marin’s new big brother, he holds her, and Taira of course agrees to help with her care.
** Harumi gets Takeharu’s testimony, and then, Takeharu makes a video meant for Marin to watch when she’s old enough, which he gives to Erina. It turns out that he plans to leave some things with Eiko’s family and then go to the Aokigahara Suicide Forest to die. Despite the group’s protests, he’s sure that there’s no other way, and as long as Marin and everyone else can have a better future, he’s okay with it. He says goodbye to Marin and gives her a picture of her mother to hold onto. Then, he says farewell to the Quantum Crew, asks them to take care of his daughter, and expresses his hope that he’s lessened their burdens, if only a little bit. Finally, he gets into his car and drives away, with the song “El Paso” by Marty Robbins playing on the radio.
** Takeharu Mizuta disappears into Aokigahara and is never seen again. He is 47.
* '''February 8:''' The rest of the Quantum Crew is filled in on the results of the mission. Nikei apologizes to Hajime for giving him grief about wanting to find another solution. Hajime knows that he should be happy, but he isn’t. Estu will give Takeharu a proper funeral. On the bright side, his money has helped many people, including the Hanamuras, the Owaris, the Saiharas, and the Saionjis.
** After sending Masa and Estu outside and promising to fill them in later, Hajime and the rest of the Quantum Crew tune in to 2030 once again. Sunako confirms that their mission was a success: the Preservation Project will only be able to run 23 games without Takeharu’s funding, the games that will happen will be forced underground, and Game L will not happen. The Giboura Middle School Massacre has also been prevented, as has the birth of Killer Killer. Echo, however, will still gain precognition powers and get kidnapped by Tsumugi, and she will still run all of her killing games, including the V3 one. (This will also still lead to the deaths of everyone in the Quantum Crew, sans Masa.) The only way for all the killing games to be prevented is to stop Shirogane. Kyoji will make more formulas to protect everyone’s genes from her.
** When Nikei asks about Marin, Sunako assures her that she’s doing well in 2030 and is now a popular weather forecaster. Nikei, Erina, Nekomaru, Kazuichi, and Kenji gather to meet the newest and youngest member of their family. Sure enough, a teenage Marin Mizuta happily greets them, moving many of them (especially Nikei) to tears. She calls herself Big Sis because she often serves as the babysitter for all the younger kids, and it’s confirmed that she is the little sister to Nikei, Nekomaru, and Kazuichi. She is also best friends with Ayumu and protects him from his sister’s crossdressing attempts. Most heartwarming of all, she was inspired to become a weather forecaster from Nikei, who works at the same TV station as her.
** Marin still has her mother’s picture and the video her father made for her. With her family’s encouragement, she watches the video. In the video, Takeharu tells her about his life, his relationship with Eiko, and the mistakes he made, and he hopes that even if he couldn’t save himself, he could save her. He expresses how much he loves her and how he’ll always love her. By the end of it, Marin is reduced to tears. But she knows how much both of her families love her. She and Sunako assure the Quantum Crew that they are making a difference.
** Everyone decides to take a break before the next mission. They tell Masa and her friends that they’ll call them again when they need them, and Masa makes up with Nikei, telling him to say hi to Marin for her.
** Nikei and Taira go with Erina, Nekomaru, Kenji, and Kazuichi back to the Nidai house to take care of Marin. The two of them reflect on how easy it is to make bad decisions when desperate, something they both have firsthand experience with. Meanwhile, Kenji offers to help Erina whenever she needs it, and Kazuichi notes how odd it is to see his dad up for dating again, but Nekomaru is just happy that his mom is happy. Everyone is bonding very nicely. Erina also plans to talk to Harumi about helping Nikei not go to jail for what happened with his parents. When she says good night to him, he calls her “Ma” for the first time.
** As Nikei and Taira make plans to go out together with Ayame for Valentine’s Day, Taira confesses that she thinks Nikei is really lucky that Erina wants to adopt him and that she’s a bit jealous. Nikei offers to look for info on her family, which Taira immediately is on board with. The two of them cuddle and go to sleep.
** It’s Hikaru’s birthday. He turns 39.
* '''February 9:''' Nikei wakes up at 3:12 AM and finds Marin also awake and crying. He comforts her and talks to her about the events of the previous couple of days, apologizing for what happened to her father and for thinking the worst of him. He also doesn’t know how to feel about the fact that he will finally get parental figures, but he’s sure that they’ll both be okay in the end. She responds by playing with his notepad, grabbing his hand, and cuddling up against him. He holds his new baby sister until they both fall asleep.

** It’s evening, and Daisuke is still interviewing people, much to Hajime’s consternation. While he waits for him to finish up, he gets a text from Masa setting up a meeting at the Void Warehouse for 8 PM. He still has no non-lethal solution to the Takeharu-Tsumugi problem, and he’s freaking out about it. Distraught, he calls Ouma Mental Health Counseling and speaks to Hirota Ouma, Kasumi’s son. He asks him what he thinks about everything that happened. Hirota expresses his disgust at Emina and Hope’s Peak, mentioning that he himself turned down a spot at the school as the Ultimate Therapist, and says that it’s a good thing Kasunago turned up. He also tells Hajime that he and Kasumi can make time to talk if he needs it. After that, Hajime calls Mio, who is meeting with Ernesto to go over all the crimes Emina committed at Hope’s Peak. She tells him that the art world is changing for the better because of Kasugano’s actions. He asks her what’s the best way to figure out if he’s doing the right thing, and she tells him to take a deep breath and remember that dark times will pass and that it’s not his fault. She also offers to pray for him.

** At the Void Warehouse, Nikei is practicing what he will say when he confronts Takeharu. He’s preparing for the worst. Maku and Emma are worried for him and know that this is not a good route for him to go down, so they’ve called in Erina to hold an intervention of sorts for their friend. They talk, he tells her about the current dilemma, and he insists that killing both Takeharu and Tsumugi is the only way for the Quantum Crew to protect themselves and their families, as he doesn’t believe that the world will give them a third option to take. Erina questions if he can really kill someone, tells the story of Nekomaru’s heart condition and the boy he met in the hospital, and says that while she wants to protect him, she knows that she has to let him live his own life. She asks if Nikei’s future family would want him to kill, and if Nikei himself truly wants to kill. After Nikei rants about his hatred of the wealthy elite and his incredulity that Hajime could ever think he’d end up just as bad by killing them, Erina asks him why he’s so sure that people like that can’t be trusted, and Nikei breaks down and tells her about his past. (This is also where we find out that his original last name was Arisaka and that his parents were local politicians.) Erina hugs him and apologizes that he ever had to go through that, while Nikei cries as he wonders why he still feels terrible for what he did. Erina wants to help him so that he doesn’t have to hide all this anymore, and she offers to come with him on the mission to find Takeharu and vouch for him if the truth ever comes out about what he did. Nikei thanks her, and at her and the other Voids’ urging, goes to get some sleep. He does, however, wonder how Masa survived Tsumugi’s rampage, and what it might’ve cost her.

Nikei thanks her, and at her and the other Voids’ urging, goes to get some sleep. He does, however, wonder how Masa survived Tsumugi’s rampage, and what it might’ve cost her.

** 2030’s Mikako’s precog powers have evolved beyond those of her 2013 counterpart, allowing her to see much farther into the future with minimal headaches and no nosebleeds. Not only has she used this to avoid a few disasters for the Quantum Crew, but she’s also seen as far ahead as August 2070. That’s how she knows that the Holy Salvation Society will recruit Masa’s granddaughter Maki…and kill the rest of her family in order to do so. Nikei is shocked, since although he was jealous of Masa, he never wanted her dead, and he agrees to investigate the cult. It’s also revealed that Kaede Akamatsu is Sayuri’s daughter and Hajime and Hibiki’s granddaughter, Kirumi Tojo is Nikei and Taira’s granddaughter, Kaito Momota is Kaori’s son and Sunako’s grandson, and Shuichi Saihara and Angie Yonaga are the descendants of Class 49 members Yuka Kurosaki and Mio Yonaga respectively. If Tsumugi isn’t stopped, she’ll do serious harm to them and others.

** As Gaea Espere explains to the group, she was the one who sank the Apothegem after winning the 49th game and being forced to watch the 50th, and Echo proved vital to saving the few people they were able to save. After everyone escaped the ship, they hid out in Nuuk, Greenland for a while, where they were almost recaptured by the Preservation Project, but they were thankfully rescued by Mayumi, Masa, and the Kisaragi Foundation. They’ve had to stay in Japan under witness protection ever since. 2030’s Nikei is currently investigating the Apothegem’s wreckage to find out more information about the incident.

** It won’t be until the fall of 2070 that the games will eventually end thanks to the cast of the 53rd season, which is entirely composed of the Quantum Crew’s descendants. These include Hajime and Hibiki’s granddaughter and Sayuri’s daughter Kaede (who’s also Natsumi’s granddaughter on her father Haruto’s side), Nikei and Taira’s granddaughter and Etsuya’s daughter Kirumi, Masa’s granddaughter Maki, and Sunako’s own grandson Kaito. It’s also mentioned that Kokichi Ouma is the grandson of Komaru (who marries Kasumi’s son Hirota), Korekiyo Shinguji is the grandson of Kikue and also Maki’s real boyfriend, Angie Yonaga is the granddaughter of Mio, Miu Iruma is the granddaughter of Miwa and Fumio (who both died in a car accident when she was young, possibly due to Ayumu’s bad luck), Ryoma Hoshi is the grandson of Kojikoji, and Tenko Chabashira is the granddaughter of Estu and Mayumi. All will be brainwashed with new identities that are purposeful insults to their ancestors.

** When the group gets to the Void Warehouse, Nikei shows Estu around, while Maku, Emma, and Sora reveal that they’ve found Takeharu’s location: the main office at the branch of MUFG Bank in Tokyo. He has 800 yen to his name, but always turns down promotions, he’s in the process of moving, and he hasn’t claimed any dependents. Nikei immediately starts railing for them to kill him right away, as he’s too paranoid about his family’s safety to wait around. Hajime and the others try to talk sense into him, since they barely even know what Takeharu’s deal is, but Nikei is convinced that he deserves to die for working with Junko. He suggests that they have the 76 Squad kill Takeharu and TSumugi instead, as they’re not part of the Quantum Crew and don’t have as many hangups regarding killing. An argument ensues, with Nikei and Hajime still at odds over the possibility of killing, and it ends with Nikei storming off while the other Voids promise to talk to him (they’re also planning to call Erina tomorrow).
