* AnnoyingArrows: [[AvertedTrope Averted]] hard with [[spoiler:the brainwashing of Hawkeye. He retains his full destructive capability while doing his best to bring S.H.I.E.L.D. down, and he causes a lot of damage before he regains his senses.]] He also does quite a lot of damage to the invading Chitauri army.

** Despite being the BigBad, Loki has this status, especially towards the end of the film. Every Avenger gets his goat once[[note]]To wit: Cap managed to interrupt his gloating in Stutggart with a deflected beam attack; Natasha out-tricks him into revealing his plan to unleash the Hulk; Stark {{No Sell}}s his MindControl scepter thanks to his Arc Reactor; Clint manages to hit him with an exploding arrow, which Loki thought was harmless when he caught it mid-air; and Hulk cuts him off from his VillainousBreakdown with some good ol' MetronomicManMashing.[[/note]]. Even [[spoiler:Phil Coulson]] gets in a good shot.

* BondVillainStupidity: A rare heroic example: Fury shows Loki the controls that will drop his holding cage out of the Helicarrier to (supposedly) certain doom; [[spoiler: Loki uses the same controls to drop Thor overboard after he escapes and tricks Thor into the cell.]]

* DissonantSerenity: Bruce Banner is pretty unshakable, facing down terrifying monsters with the full assurance that he's capable of getting way scarier than they are. And note the Hulk's expression during [[spoiler: his CurbStompBattle against Loki. Whedon wanted his relatively calm face to communicate the idea that this wasn't a big deal for him.]]

* AwesomeAnachronisticApparel: Steve still dresses and wears his hair like he's in the [[TheForties 1940s]]. It becomes a DiscussedTrope when Steve worries that a jaded public might not receive his star-spangled, patriotic uniform as well as the WorldWarII generation, worrying that it might be seen as old-fashioned, to which Agent Coulson assures him that "Maybe we ''need'' some old-fashioned."

** The entire Chitauri invasion goes like this. While there are plenty of FrickinLaserBeams, StuffBlowingUp, and general mayhem, not a single human casualty is depicted on screen, despite the fact that a news ticker displays the phrase "Hundreds Confirmed Dead".
