Ryo backs off by claiming it was actually a sick joke and Yuuki believes it, but it's sad to see Yuuki reject him.]]

But all is innocent, and he sees her off to the train station. Then all goes to hell, '''like anything really could'''. Aboard the train, Sachiko and the other passengers [[spoiler: are set upon by demons, with the train tunnel itself being the mouth or orifice of something nasty.]] Akira then receives a phone call telling him [[spoiler: that his 'little friend tasted wonderful']]. Akira kills the demon [[spoiler: Jinmen]] responsible, but not before seeing [[spoiler: the faces of the monster's dead victims on the back of its tortoise-like shell, wailing about the horror of their fate. Sachiko is among them, painfully and tearfully describing her horrific death, and all she has lost as a result.]] At her urging, Akira recognizes their fate and sees past the demon's taunts [[spoiler: and plunges his hand through Sachiko's face, enabling him to tear off Jinmen's shell, leaving him vulnerable. As a final reminder of Akira's loss, the shell hardens with the faces still on it, including Sachiko's smashed visage.]] And for all this, it is only a light prelude or foreshadowing of horrors to come...

* The final battle of Siren, when Kaim comes to her aid, is both touching and heart tearing. She may be the villain of the arc out to kill the hero, but she and Kaim are shown sympathetically. This is cemented when [[spoiler: Kaim sees Selene's mortal injury and suggests they merge. Selene says she can't, because if she leads the change, they'll die and if he leads the change, he only has a 50/50 chance of survival, not including the fight. Kaim can't bear to live in a world without her and offers his life for one last blaze of glory. To ensure she does this and doesn't run away, he ''rips off his own head''.]] It makes one question the very nature of the demons being faced.

* It's revealed what happened during the final fight between Akira and [[spoiler: Ryo/Satan. After everything else has been vanquished from the planet, Akira in his Devilman form prepares to deal the last blow to Satan, but is torn in half by one of Satan's stray attacks. Meaning that not only Akira's death was completely accidental, it was Ryo/Satan who caused it. The last thing Akira sees as he lies dying is Ryo/Satan tearful face.]] Also, we get to hear [[spoiler: Akira's]] FamousLastWords.

* The deaths of [[spoiler: two devilmen, male and female, who are burned alive by demon hunters and to the very end try to prove they're not demons. Finally they embrace each other and kiss before dying]].

* Sirene's UndyingLoyalty towards Satan, when he couldn't care less about her and just sees her as pawn in his plans to fight against God.

His breakdown is gut-wrenching; he tries to put his son out of his misery, but can't. When the army comes in to kill him, he screams and begs them not to kill his son, but both just get gunned down.]]
* Akira tries and fails [[spoiler:to save Miki's parents and younger brother, Taro. He manages to at least recover their bodies and gives them a proper burial.]]
* After returning home from his failed attempt to [[spoiler: save the Makimura's, Akira has to break the news to Miki that her entire family has been killed.]] He cannot even look her in the eyes as he relays the news. Miki wordlessly retreats to her room. Akira, overcome by the tragedy, immediately begins to weep with a loud wail. Miki, alone in her room, is finally hit by her loss when she hears Akira crying. Miki also begins to cry and soon both she and Akira can be heard sobbing as the scene focuses on pictures of the Makimura family.
* After Ryo outs Akira to the world and he escapes the Makimura home in his Devilman form, he witnesses a group of humans tied to posts being stoned by an angry mob. Akira flies down to try and stop the people from being killed and reason with the mob. As the crowd becomes more irate Akira begs them to come to their senses, telling them that the humans tied up are not demons and that neither is he. The people refuse to believe Akira no matter how much he pleads and start throwing what ever they can at him. Akira stretches out his arms to shield the innocent people behind him, asking why they hate and kill each other in an anguished voice. By then Akira is in tears. The mob jeers and mocks him for crying and continue their assault, but Akira refuses to yield. He stands his ground and takes the punishment, still silently weeping.
* The ending. [[spoiler: After their first and final fight, Satan/Ryo [[PyrrhicVillainy realizes too late what his plans have cost him]] as he reminisces on his childhood with Akira and [[PleaseWakeUp begs him]] [[PleaseDontLeaveMe not to leave him]] as [[WhatIsThisFeeling he's finally realized his feelings of love for Akira]] [[YouAreTooLate far too late]].
