* Brayker's life and situation is overall a mix of TearJerker and NightmareFuel. He was formerly a UsefulNotes/WorldWarI private whose commanding officer, a Demon Knight, was killed and entrusted him with an ancient artifact that he must protect from the forces of evil lest they cause TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt. Brayker must've had to abandon any family and friends he might have had back in the 1910s, and since then, he couldn't catch a break from the Collectors coming after him for the key. Without asking for it, without having a choice in the matter, he's forced to give up a peaceful life and human bonding for this terrifying, endless chase, for which [[TheGreatestStoryNeverTold he will never be recognized]] and properly rewarded for (unless Demon Knights are welcomed in Heaven when they die). The only way out is a Collector finally killing him, at that point he'll just have to [[PassingTheTorch pass the key]] onto another unfortunate person who'll likewise have to give up everything to continue running and protecting the key from the demons, which is probably something Brayker and all the past Demon Knights before him don't wish upon anyone, but they must. Talk about BeingGoodSucks.

-->'''The Collector:''' Poor Cordelia. Seems downright criminal to treat such a pretty girl that way... did I say pretty? I meant beautiful; 'cause you are, you are beautiful Cordelia, Inside and out. Maybe nobody here can see it, but I sure can. I understand you: I know what you want, I know what you need. Guys like Roach, they think just 'cause they're paying for it, that they can treat you like shit, and spend the same money on dinner and a movie they can call you girlfriend instead of whore. Whore; what a horrible word that is to use on someone who's really just a sad girl who's looking for love. Tender, warm, unconditional Love. I can give you that love, as much as you take. All you have to do is let me in, ''let me in, let me in, let me in, let me in.''
* The Deputy sits quietly, mourning his boss' death for a good long while before the group gently tell him it's time to get out.
