I think this is more heartwarming than tearjerker.

* Even though they're borderline bad guys for much of the series, Su and Lu's great big hug on finding each other still alive qualifies.

Added DiffLines:

** Yuji's rants are as pitiful as they are horrifying, as he brings up Yung and Joey from the beginning of the series and even reminisces on Takashi and the promise they'd made to go ride away together once the latter had been "cured". He even turns his gun on Marlene as she talks him down, scratching her before [[ShutUpKiss kissing him.]]

Added DiffLines:

* EVERYTHING regarding the state of the Koreans in Episodes 4-5. [[DeathOfAChild Especially]] [[HarmfulToMinors poor]] [[KillTheCutie Yung...]]
** To recap, the people who are LUCKY are only with broken limbs or are starving for nourishment and are more or less implied to have [[DespairEventHorizon given up all hope.]] So much so that the adults and most of the children regard the Second Earth soldiers with unyielding disdain for abandoning them to their fates, even [[NaiveNewcomer Yuji]].
** Joey meets his end in the latter episode, using his final breaths to tell Yuji he considers him a good friend. The latter already had to come to terms with the world as he knew it was gone completely and in less than a week, he loses a new friend [[DiedInYourArmsTonight while cradling him.]] [[FromBadToWorse And later]] he sees the Blue take Yung...
*** Then Robert detonates himself to eliminate the Blue attacking them, leaving Yuji and Marlene alone in getting back into orbit. The cherry on top would be Yung's dog Maru somehow surviving the slaughter and coming back to Yuji with his torn collar, seemingly blissfully unaware that he'll never see the young man again, never mind his now-deceased owner.

Removing This Troper; Tear Jerker pages are Spoilers Off.

* ''Anime/{{Blue Gender}}'' is mostly an action/horror series, but this troper found himself tearing up when [[spoiler: Yuji is being driven mad by his overactive B-cells and Marlene is trying to talk to him and bring him back to his senses. The way Marlene speaks, suggesting that she knows she's in danger of losing the only person who matters to her, is especially poignant.]]
** Even though they're borderline bad guys for much of the series, Su and Lu's great big hug on finding each other still alive qualifies.
