** Even worse, this is the last time we see Mr. Cunningham in the entire series, so we don't know if Chelsea ever forgave him.

** The sad thing about this opening scene is this. This wasn't some big case Bruce was dealing with. This wasn't him facing Darkseid with the Justice League or some other major end-of-the-world scenario. This wasn't even one of his usual fights with his rogues gallery. These were just a bunch of small-time punks. In his prime, Bruce would've been in and taken care of it all in a minute or less. But when he couldn't handle even the simple jobs and had to use something he was strictly against, it was time to hang it up.

* Pretty much everything that happens to [[BreakTheBadass Wonder]] [[BreakTheCutie Woman]] in the Justice Lords' timeline. She chooses to stay because she can't fathom leaving that world in shambles, even though this means she may never be able to return home. She ends up in a relationship with Lord Batman, something that the main-universe Batman wouldn't let himself do out of fear for [[IHaveYourWife what his enemies might do to her if they knew he had a weak spot...]] a fear that turns out to be [[ProperlyParanoid well-founded]] when Lord Wonder Woman disguises herself as her main universe counterpart to catch Lord Batman off-guard and kill him. Diana arrives at the scene a minute too late and, upon seeing what happened, she [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge goes berserk]] and kills her Lord counterpart by strangling her with the Lasso of Truth. And because the Lasso of Truth was [[ThouShaltNotKill not meant for killing]], it disintegrates because Diana has become unworthy.

* At the beginning of the episode, [[TragicVillain Mr. Freeze]] is at the most pitiable state he's ever been; reduced to a head in a jar, [[TheLostLenore his beloved wife Nora long dead]], not even his grudge against Batman to hold onto as he sits alone in an ice-cold storage room. [[WhoWantsToLiveForever Fully aware that his condition has left him unable to age]], but said condition [[ICannotSelfTerminate also making an end to his suffering impossible]].
-->'''Mr. Freeze:''' Take a good look, doctor. I've been like this for nearly fifty years, and I haven't aged one day. I have become what many men have dreamed of: an immortal. [[DeathSeeker And yet... there hasn't been a day... an hour, a minute... I haven't thought about death.]] It ''obsesses'' me, even now.

** It's worth noting that Terry is the explicit reason they all died, having put Freon and 2-D Man into situations that would kill them as well as beat Magma to death. His anger is probably at least partially towards himself.

** It's worth noting that that, even though they were dying and would have destroyed the city along with themselves, Terry is the explicit reason they ends up killing all died, having put three of them. He uses a powerful ceiling fan to suck up Freon and 2-D Man into situations that would kill them as well as Man, and has to beat Magma to death. death because he refuses to stop. * Batman confronts Melanie to see if she can tell him anything about where her family might be, but she tells him honestly that she doesn't know and that she doesn't exist to her family anymore. Before Batman leaves, Melanie asks him if he gave Terry her note from "Once Burned", not knowing Batman ''is'' Terry. He tells her that yeah, Terry got it, and Melanie sadly notes that she guesses she doesn't exist to him either.

** Let's face it: Bruce would have wasted away for decades in his mansion if it wasn’t for Terry. A life lived, full of adventure and justice. Saving lives day in and day out. Nights of lurking on the streets for superstitious and cowardly lots. Friends and family coming and going. People you’ve saved the world a thousand times over with. Old foes popping up, going down, rinse and repeat. Everything ended. All of it gone. Nothing but trophies and a sad, lonely man left in the ashes—buried in such until reborn under the energy of youthful ignorance.

*** Imagine the shame, horror, and utter revulsion that Bruce felt as he had to use the same weapon that ruined his life in a moment of pure human weakness. Batman was born of a gun, and the moment he picked up that gun to protect himself here, Batman was no more, and Bruce Wayne returned. Reborn in shame and disgrace.
