Up To Eleven is a defunct trope

** Taken UpToEleven in the second half of the series, ''New Testament''. *** Brandish μ is the end result of WhatKindOfLamePowerIsHeartAnyway taken UpToEleven, possessing SizeShifter magic so potent she can shrink landmasses as large as an island into tiny rocks for her to stand on. Her RedBaron is "Nation Destroyer" for a reason, but unfortunately she may as well be called the "Interesting Fight Destroyer" too; The issue with Brandish's magic is that there's no stated limitation on what she can grow or shrink, since we've seen her use it on people without thier consent without suffering any ill effects, and according to [=DiMaria=] she can easily kill people by enlarging their organs into exploding, so it doesn't possess anything like a line of sight or physical contact condition. All of this results in Brandish getting 2 fights ever; The first ends due to a random bout of allergies leaving her open for a sucker punch and the latter was the same fight where we learned how easily she'd have killed Lucy if she wasn't holding back.

** Most of the time, Sesshomaru's abilities are dampened, as he was the unchallenged most powerful character who is on the side of good. He rarely helps Inuyasha and co and his attitude towards them aside, he is obviously reserved only for the most dangerous enemies and never really joins them despite being more or less on alliance terms with them because he would make the heroes struggles too easy, as he loves to show whenever he does get to fight for them, which either ends in the villains being curb-stomped or still able to resist but not really able to do any damage as they could have against Inuyasha's group. This is turned UptoEleven when he gets Bakusaiga towards the end of the story just before the FinalBattle. At this point, he is so strong that the BigBad didn't stand a chance against him, since it's capable of killing anything that merely comes into contact with anything it's cut and it can kill ''thousands'' with a single swing. As a result, the BigBad immediately steals the sword owner's MoralityPet and traps her inside his body for most of the rest of the story. When Sesshoumaru does finally rescue Rin and use the sword, Naraku's body starts being destroyed. He remains this in ''Anime/YashahimePrincessHalfDemon''. Almost the entire time, he stays out of his daughters and niece's affairs as none of the enemies they encounter would have been of any challenge to him, not to mention that he is actually ''unable'' to just lend them any help as he has other matters to worry about, particularly his wife's salvation. The only time he fights for his daughters is against Kirinmaru, who is the only one capable of matching him at this point.

** Naturally, Truth as the God of the Fullmetal Alchemist universe is bar none the most powerful character in the series. Despite being initially depicted as a [[JerkassGods Jerkass]], we never see any of the heroes even try to challenge him. In fact, even Edward despite resenting him more than anyone else refuses to tangle with him after Truth makes it clear how his efforts would never work if all he does is try to use Alchemy against him, seeking a different way that doesn't involve him to save Alphonse's body. The finale with Father having Truth's power demonstrates just how overwhelming his power is and exactly why people never try fighting Truth no matter what he does. Father was already immensely powerful, but by the time he becomes God, he was briefly invincible and easily uses super-powerful Alchemy techniques while making it clear it was nothing. Even after he is left decaying and dying, he still demolishes his enemies and gives them a hell of a fight and it takes a HeroicSacrifice to finally end him, after which Truth finally gets his hands dirty for once and helps the heroes by swiftly imprisoning Father, seemingly deciding to do that because having someone regularly seek his power would be devastating. In the end, Edward chooses to give Truth exactly what he wanted after coming to an epiphany, realizing that the reason why Truth not only never helps directly until then but also makes sure the power he grants comes with a price is because he acknowledges his power, even a fraction of it, is just too great for anyone to wield and it would make them arrogant and seek dominance, meaning that at least part of the reason why he is such an ass is because he is legitimately aware of the dangers overwhelming power like his can bring and he wants humans to rely more on their natural abilities, ultimately leaving Truth undefeated by power and only conquered by Edward's wisdom realizing that while you can't beat God, you can impress him by learning the lesson he wanted to hear, afterwards Truth just simply gives Alphonse's body back and leaves happily, content that finally a person realized the responsibilities and temptations that comes with power.

** Whitebeard [[spoiler:can cause tsunamis with his earthquake-causing Devil Fruit, in a world consisting almost entirely of small islands]]. Specifically referred to in-universe as the power that can destroy the world. No wonder he's been in the background so much.

*** Eneru, in particular, was so ridiculously powerful that the story had to let him [[TheBadGuyWins get away with his master plan to travel to the moon]] just so he could be PutOnABus (though, fortunately, his secondary goal to destroy Skypeia on his way out was ultimately foiled.) It was later confirmed via WordOfGod that if he did manage to make it onto the mainland, he would have a bounty of over 500,000,000 Berries, which would be impressive even in the New World. Furthermore, between his Devil Fruit (which is ''still'' easily one of the most broken in the series almost ''eighteen years later''), Mantra (aka Observation Haki), and innate physical prowess, Eneru is so stupidly overpowered that, as long as he didn't piss off an Emperor, start fights with powerful Haki users, get an Admiral or Vice Admiral sent out to deal with him (and even then, it's a gamble whether any of the Vice Admirals aside from maybe Smoker could win a fight with him without outside aid), or run into Luffy again, he would probably survive just fine in the New World.

She almost never gets into fights post-TimeSkip, because then, fights went two ways for her: she immediately sprouts two arms on the enemy's shoulders and snaps their neck, or she gets nullified before she can do exactly that. Although, after the TimeSkip, having trained herself in its use [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tSxa8I-4Go and discovered]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYy1Uuiw1kI several unique ways to use it]], she's involved in quite a few fight scenes; [[OneManArmy just not against individuals]].

He can cut people to bits and rearrange them as he likes with the person still alive, swap around people and objects instantly, cut through whatever he wants including armored Haki and whole mountains, rip out organs, swap souls, and inflict an unhealing wound. Unlike most Devil Fruit users, there is one special check on this power: unlike all other fruits, ''any'' use saps his stamina. But even with this drawback, it requires specific targets and situations for him to not instantly win fights.
** Magellan, the warden of Impel Down, has the Toxin-Toxin Devil Fruit, one of the most effective Devil Fruits in the series. [[PoisonousPerson Everything about him, from his sweat, to his skin, to even his breath are all poisonous]] and he has different varieties from poison that acts like tear gas to poison that can make your skin melt. He can also generate massive waves of poison out of himself, create hydra heads of pure poison to attack people, and any contact with him or his attacks instantly poisons the target. His poison is so powerful that it can kill a person within minutes unless an antidote is administered. However, if you get hit by too many poisons, you're too far gone to be cured and are sentenced to a slow and painful death. The worst part is even if you have some sort of ability that could block the poison, such as Mr. 3's Wax-Wax Fruit, he can just make his poison [[ScissorsCutsRock so strong that it melts steel and rock]]. Plus, he isn't even a Logia type, so he doesn't have any of the usual weaknesses of a Logia Devil Fruit user (such as extra vulnerability to Armament Haki and falling prey to ElementalRockPaperScissors).
** Donquixote Doflamingo's Devil Fruit is another strong contender for "most broken Paramecia". At its most basic, it's RazorFloss that can also be used to control people like puppets. However, its cutting power is almost unparalleled - even giant stone buildings were easily reduced to rubble. His control abilities, meanwhile, are almost completely irresistible, and could extend to hundreds of people across an entire island, without causing him any visible strain. Furthermore, it also grants him a HealingFactor, as he could simply use his strings to sew up what would be fatal injuries. That's also not even getting into his abilities as an Awakened Devil Fruit user, which allows him to literally ''transmute objects into more string''. Combine that with his absurd {{Charles Atlas Superpower}}s and strong Haki, and you have one of the most broken Warlords.

* Hao from ''Manga/ShamanKing'' picked up quite a few of them. Quite literal example of this trope, as because of his power the author couldn't think of a plausible way of defeating him for some time. Besides having truly exorbitant amount of Furyoku, his spirit - Spirit of Fire - is also the closest thing to The Great Spirit one can get, his medium is omnipresent oxygen (so not only he can create his Oversoul basically everywhere, but also he can do so at extreme speed) and even if you get smart and use a bomb that burns out all oxygen in the vicinity, Hao's Omnyodo allows him to change the element of his spirit to something else and use different medium, such as water in air. Oh and if he's killed he can just reincarnate 500 years later for next Shaman King Tournament, and due to CameBackStrong being in effect, he'd be virtually unstoppable by then.

** Apparently, this is why Yuta Okkotsu and Kinji Hakari, the two strongest students of Jujutsu High who are stated to be just as gifted as Yuji by being able to surpass Gojo in the future and due to having far more intensive experience and training are way out of Yuji's current level, appear after Gojo is sealed only. Even [[WordofGod Gege Akutami]] admits this to be true at least in case for Hakari, stating his cursed technique was too overpowered at that time. For Yuta, he is specifically stated to be second only to Gojo so he spends most of the series away, while Hakari is stated to be potentially even better than Yuta. Even when they aid the heroes, Yuta and Hakari both are quickly seperated from the protagonists to fight their own battles.

** Most Legendary and Mythical Pokémon are portrayed as very strong demigod-like beings in [[Anime/PokemonTheSeries the anime.]] Naturally, this means that Ash will never have the chance to actually capture and own them in the same way player characters can in the games. He can befriend them (and has done so many times, especially in the movies), and has beaten a few that do belong to other trainers, but actually capturing them would not only be disastrous for the world, but it would also make Ash almost invincible. Tobias, a trainer who happens to have two such Pokémon under his command (a Darkrai and a Latios) happens to prove just how absurdly strong they can be under the command of a Trainer, as it is mentioned that he only needed Darkrai to win all his badges and that him resorting to use Latios was seen as a commendable feat for Ash.

In the first, Melmetal manages to match a legendary Pokémon that [[ElementalRockPaperScissors has to change types mid-battle]] before losing, and in the second it manages to put a serious dent in its opponent's team before the latter has to use his strongest Pokémon, again with a type advantage, to defeat it.

* Alucard from ''Manga/Hellsing''. He's already a fast and powerful vampire with a ridiculous HealingFactor, but can also walk through walls, shapeshift, manipulate shadows to move an entire aircraft carrier, and that's when none of his PowerLimiters are released. When Level Zero is unleashed, he becomes absolutely unstoppable, sweeping through London and destroying the Nazi and Iscariot armies on his own. You can try to kill him, but he'll just consume one of the souls he's absorbed and be just fine - and he has two million of them, all of which he can unleash with Level Zero. Level Zero is confirmed to actually leave him vulnerable to death, but no-one comes close to killing him. The invasion of London wouldn't have happened had the Major not baited him onto the aforementioned aircraft carrier and effectively removed him from the story for several chapters. In the end Alucard's only stopped when he accidentally absorbs Schrödinger, who had power to exist everywhere and nowhere as long as he was aware of himself. Schrödinger being absorbed meant he lost that awareness, which almost erased him and Alucard, who he was now connected to, from existence. And Alucard ''still'' survived that, returning at the end of the series after destroying all the other souls he'd absorbed over thirty years until only his and Schrödinger's were left, effectively making him less powerful, but now even more impossible to kill.

** Bakusaiga was introduced towards the end of the story just before the FinalBattle, and was said that the BigBad didn't stand a chance against it, since it's capable of killing anything that merely comes into contact with anything it's cut and it can kill ''thousands'' with a single swing. As a result, the BigBad immediately steals the sword owner's MoralityPet and traps her inside his body for most of the rest of the story. When Sesshoumaru does finally rescue Rin and use the sword, Naraku's body starts being destroyed.

to:

** Most of the time, Sesshomaru's abilities are dampened, as he was the unchallenged most powerful character who is on the side of good. He rarely helps Inuyasha and co and his attitude towards them aside, he is obviously reserved only for the most dangerous enemies and never really joins them despite being more or less on alliance terms with them because he would make the heroes struggles too easy, as he loves to show whenever he does get to fight for them, which either ends in the villains being curb-stomped or still able to resist but not really able to do any damage as they could have against Inuyasha's group. This is turned UptoEleven when he gets Bakusaiga was introduced towards the end of the story just before the FinalBattle, and was said FinalBattle. At this point, he is so strong that the BigBad didn't stand a chance against it, him, since it's capable of killing anything that merely comes into contact with anything it's cut and it can kill ''thousands'' with a single swing.

Added DiffLines:

** ''Anime/YashahimePrincessHalfDemon'' has Kirinmaru, who is just as powerful as Sesshomaru after acquiring Bakusaiga and Toga, and he's repeatedly stated and proven to be capable of easily dispatching the protagonists any time he likes. Fortunately, he doesn't care in the slightest about his sister's desire to kill them and in fact actually prefers they remain alive and mostly seeks to fulfill his currently unknown goals rather than bother with them, preventing him from ending the girls. Even in a weakened state, he is still capable of dispatching the girls and once again they only survive because he doesn't ''want'' them to die yet.

*** Omnimon, introduced in the movie ''Our War Game'' immediately leapt to being the most powerful Digimon in the anime at the time and remains one of the top 5 strongest Digimon in the animated franchise (his exact spot on the list is debatable, as his opening feat remains probably the most extreme example of power in the series. The other top-class Digimon appeared in 1v1 battles). In his first appearence, he faces off against at least 16,000 (upped to a million in the dub) Mega-level digimon, each one more powerful than either [=WarGreymon=] or [=MetalGarurumon=] individually, and ''annihilates'' them. In his first move, he reflects hundreds of attacks back at them and at no point appears to even try. The only reason the final copy (changed to the original in the dub) lasted as long as it did was that with room to move, it could actually flee in abject terror. Like Angemon, Omnimon was severely nerfed in his 02 appearance, seemingly waylaid by a swarm of baby Digimon, having more trouble with Diaboromon one on one and getting curb-stomped by Armageddamon. The nerfing was spectacularly undone in "Digimon Adventure Tri" when he went up against Alphamon, a Digimon with powers equal to his own in ''Our War Game''. After literally ignoring everything thrown at him (including [=WarGreymon=] and [=MetalGarurumon=]), he takes one look at Omnimon and powers up to his strongest form. The shockwaves from their first connection leveled the surrounding buildings, and Omnimon goes on to gain the upper hand before Alphamon's tactical retreat. He's later able to fight evenly in a four-way battle with Alphamon, Jesmon and Raguelmon (who took out all the other Megas with just the shockwaves caused by Alphamon attacking Jesmon). It's then taken even further when he gains a mode change by absorbing the other partner Megas, transfoming into the very broken Merciful Mode. He would undergo minor-Worfing again in the final movie in the original continuity, where he is unable to access Merciful Mode and has to fight the incredibly powerful Eosmon one on one. He puts up a much better fight than against Armageddemon but still goes down. Agumon and Gabumon then access their own individual storybreaker powers by evolining into their Bond Mega forms.

While firmly a villain, circumstances of him being inside Yuji and his total lack of care over the other villains plans means that he is put in a situation where he either has to fight the bad guys or outright wants to and the few times where he is manifested, which happens scarcely and constantly without Yuji being able to help it, he not only thoroughly decimates any enemy he is put against, but also finds ways to use his power to make the situation even worse.

*** [=DiMaria=] Yestia is the TimeStandsStill wizard mentioned earlier, and like Brandish she's what happens when you fail to give decent limitations on someone's powers. [=DiMaria=] doesn't seem to exhaust herself at all when she freezes time using Age Seal, nor is there an explicit limit to how long she can maintain her time stop. She herself brings up that all she'd need to do afterwards is behead her opponents with her sword. And that's just her ''basic spell''; [=DiMaria=] is actually a God Take Over wizard who can use Chronos to assume even more ridiculous spells, like an attack that makes you feel every bit of pain you ever felt in life all at once. In practice, the only real way anyone managed to defeat her is with time magic of their own, or anti-God magic they happened to have at the time. In execution, the story had to resort to a grand total of 3 DeusExMachina in a row to enable [=DiMaria=]'s defeat over two separate fights.
