* ''Manga/Touch1981'' has Kazuya and Tatsuya, the former being a serious, hard-working student and sportsman in contrast with her laid-back, lazy brother. This is deliberate on Tatsuya's part, since he refuses to overshadow his brother in any way, shape or form.

** America and Canada: The first is a loud, outgoing mix of {{Eagleland}} archtypes and BoisterousBruiser; the second is much more quiet, sensible, and [[CanadaEh overlooked]]. Ironically, it's implied that secretly both wish they were more like one another, with Canada wishing people would notice him more like in America's case, whereas America wishes he'd get along with others as well as Canada does.

** The Tsugikuni Twins: Yorichii and Michikatsu, aka [[spoiler:Upper Rank 1 of the 12 Kizuki, Kokushibo. Michikatsu had always desired to be a strong swordsman, although he was strong, he paled in comparison to his much stronger twin brother. However, Yorichii had no desire to become a swordsman, and much preferred to live a simple and peaceful life. In addition, Yorichii practiced Sun Breathing, while Michikatsu/Kokushibo practiced Moon Breathing.]]

Yuichiro was also an unapologetic cynic although he was much more scathing. Pre-Amnesia Muichiro was optimistic and cheerful.]]

* They're [[BloodBrothers not actually related]], but ''Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann'''s Simon and Kamina were definitely designed to fit the trope -- Simon is shy, relatively sensible, quiet and intelligent, where Kamina is outgoing, reckless, big-mouthed and something of an idiot. Their respective appearances couldn't be much more different, either; Simon is short (prior to the {{Timeskip}}, anyway), pale and skinny with dark purple hair and blue eyes, where Kamina is tall, tan and muscular with bright blue hair and red eyes. Finally, in case all of that wasn't quite unsubtle enough, their [[ThemeNaming names also contrast]]: Simon's name comes from "shimo", the Japanese word for "below", and Kamina's name comes from "kami", the Japanese word for "above".

* Light and his sister in ''Manga/DeathNote''. Their only common points are that they are both good-looking and respected. She is a nice, ordinary person, he is a freakishly intelligent WellIntentionedExtremist with sociopathic tendencies and a [[AGodAmI god complex]].

* Soma and Kanna from ''Devil & Devil''. Soma is a weak ocult otaku and Kanna is a violent rebel. It doesn't help that they each get possessed by the devil Sword and the angel Ios respectably.

** The Muten Roshi and the Uranai Baba. The Muten Roshi is a DirtyOldMan who uses KiManipulation, the Uranai Baba is a CoolOldLady who uses MagicAndPowers. They're both very wise and tricky though. The Muten Roshi, however, isn't nearly as greedy as her older sister, though.

** Frieza and Cooler have this going on while still both being sadistic [[GalacticConqueror Galactic Conqueror]]. Where Frieza is TheNapoleon and a BadBoss to his minions, Cooler is a tall PragmaticVillain and BenevolentBoss who doesn’t abuse his henchmen. While Frieza grossly underestimates everyone, and refuses to acknowledge anyone could be stronger than him and has a shit fit when he’s overpowered, Cooler actually respects powerful foes such as Goku and acknowledges their strength. Frieza likes to BeamSpam whilst Cooler loves getting up close and personal. Both are crafty but where Frieza often loses his composure in the face of defeat, Cooler tries different tactics.

** ''GT'' gives this dynamic to [[spoiler: Lapis and Lazuli]] aka Android 17 and 18. While 18 has mellowed out and become compassionate having settled down with Krillin and has a daughter with him, 17 much like his psychotic BadFuture counterpart still thinks everything is a game and is disgusted by his sister bonding with humans. In DBZ and ''Anime/DragonBallSuper'' 17 and 18 are much closer in personality with the only noticeable difference being that 17 is more cocky and battle loving than 18 but also less cautious (which gets him absorbed by Cell quicker). 18 also loves clothes and shopping, which bores 17 to tears.

** Gohan is polite and well-mannered and sees fighting as only a last resort when necessary. Goten sees fighting as more of a game, having not gone through the same kind of life-or-death battles as his big brother until Majin Buu was reawakened. Ten years later in ''Anime/DragonBallGT'', Goten has lost his borderline BloodKnight attitude and is more interested in girls, another contrast to his older brother, who was apparently ObliviousToLove and married his first girlfriend.

*** Asuka and her older brother Fubuki. Asuka is a "cool beauty" type of character and uses the feminine Cyber Angel deck, whereas Fubuki often acts like cheery weirdo, with a hidden darkness inside of him, an entity that is literally named Darkness. Fubuki's deck is more masculine, using Beast-Warriors and Dragons, particularly the Red-Eyes archetype.

** The show also features the Zabi siblings who manage to be a four man version of this. On the one side you have {{antivillain}}s Dozle and Garma. Both take care of their men, [[UnholyMatrimony love their significant others]], have [[HotBlooded passionate attitudes]], and [[EvenEvilHasLovedOnes respect their father]], sharing many personality traits despite their ''very'' different appearances ([[GeniusBruiser Dozle]] is TheBrute, [[SissyVillain Garma]] TheDarkChick). Contrasting them are [[TheEvilPrince Gihren]] and [[TheBaroness Kycilia]], a pair of [[ManipulativeBastard manipulative]], cold-blooded social climbers who believe that WeHaveReserves, break the rules of war left, right, and centre, and make [[LackOfEmpathy no real connections]] with anyone besides themselves (though Gihren is the worse of the two in this regard). Appropriately, Garma and Dozle quite like each other, while Kycilia and Gihren ''[[CainAndAbel hate]]'' one another.

** Moe "Suzu" Suzuya is an [[ComingOutStory openly]] [[LipstickLesbian lesbian]] [[LovableSexManiac pervert]] who is into running the family [[SweetBaker bakery]]; her younger sister Megu is an athletic girl who shows little interest in romance or their FamilyBusiness.

* The Yamai twins in ''LightNovel/DateALive'', while similar in appearance, are very different in personality and speech. Kaguya is childish, impulsive, and speaks in a bombastic manner because she thinks as a Spirit she needs to sound cool. Yuzuru is cool-headed, prone to pointing out Kaguya's mistakes, and speaks in a flat-toned robotic manner.

* Twin examples: Risa and Riku in ''Manga/DNAngel''; Vash and Knives in ''Manga/{{Trigun}}''; Abel and Cain in ''LightNovel/TrinityBlood''; Metatron and Sandalphon in ''Manga/AngelSanctuary''; [[spoiler:Chrno and Aion/Ion]] in ''Manga/ChronoCrusade''; Suboshi and Amiboshi in ''Manga/FushigiYuugi''. Also as is often the case for the twin archetype, which some scholars view as a sub-category of the hermaphrodite archetype (seriously), one twin is gendered more 'feminine' (Risa, Vash, Abel, [[spoiler:Chrno]], arguably Metatron) and the other more 'masculine' (Riku, Knives, Cain, [[spoiler:Aion]], Sandalphon). (This has nothing to do with sexual orientation.)

* ''LightNovel/{{Durarara}}'':

* In ''LightNovel/TheGardenOfSinners'', Azaka [[RebelliousSpirit is]] [[PluckyGirl special]], and is attracted to things that are ''[[IJustWantToBeSpecial special]]''. This is in contrast with everyone else in the cast, but particularly with her [[UnfazedEveryman brother]]... ''The'' normal guy.

* ''LightNovel/InfiniteStratos'' has the Shinonono sisters, Tabane and Houki. The older is very silly, while the younger is very serious.

* Minatsu and Mafuyu Shiina in ''LightNovel/StudentCouncilsDiscretion''. Minatsu is busty, loves sports and isn't afraid to speak her mind. Mafuyu is petite and quiet.

* ''Manga/MyDressUpDarling'': Sajuna is small, moody, uptight, and outspoken, while her younger sister Shinju is [[BigLittleSister tall]], easygoing, mild-mannered, and shy.

** The [[Anime/FullmetalAlchemist 2003 anime version]] and light novels also have Fletcher and Russel Tringham, who present many parallels with the Elric brothers. So much so that not only do they impersonate the Elrics at least twice, there's a certain amount of Sibling Yin Yang between respective imposters-the Tringhams fulfill a certain amount of the expectation of what you're going to get with the Elrics, which is quite different from what you actually get. Aside from the fact that each Tringham has an ego that matches his respective Elric.

** ''GT'' gives this dynamic to [[spoiler: Lapis and Lazuli]] aka Android 17 and 18. *** Kurosaki and his younger sister Ruri use both bird-themed decks, with Kurosaki using the very mechanical Raid Raptors/Raidraptors, which are based on predatory birds, whereas Ruri uses the very humanoid and harpy-like Lyrical Luscinia/Lyrilusc monsters. Both of their decks heavily side on WeakButSkilled and compensate for it with their ZergRush strategy to summon their also WeakButSkilled Xyz Monsters, but Kurosaki's Xyz Monsters evolve into bigger, stronger monsters and most of his Xyz Monsters are designed to destroy opposing Special Summoned monsters, whereas Ruri's Xyz Monsters mainly stay weak, revolve around having as many Over Ray Units as possible and attack the opponent directly instead. Kurosaki is a brooding stoic with a nonsense attitude who has difficult time befriending people outside his home dimension, whereas Ruri is friendly, more sociable, but has some deep confidence issues.
