I removed Artistic License - Biology because in the show the term diaphragm refers to an old-school birth control method that is inserted in the vagina, and not part of the respiratory system. Since the birth control can be removed without violating rules of biology, I think this trope is not in play.

* ArtisticLicenseBiology: Nurse Nancy easily removes her diaphragm by reaching down into her pants and pulling it out. Not only is it impossible to remove the diaphragm by hand, doing so would make breathing impossible. Like everything else, PlayedForLaughs.
