* CalBack: In episode 30, the Yellow and Green zords combine with DaiGoyou to make a Megazord. Takeru complains "You left me out again!", in reference to the first time the team tried to make a Megazord in episode 2 and Takeru's zord wasn't able to get in the right spot.

* SignatureStyle: The lead writer for Shinkenger is the same one from Series/KamenRiderDenO, YasukoKobayashi. It seems she brought the humor which made Den-O stand out in the Rider francise; particularly the "true companions" feel of the group.

* SlidingScaleOfIdealismVersusCynicism: YasukoKobayashi seems to be tapping every mood her SignatureStyle has lead her to. This is actually ideal for this year's themes, and gives Shinkenger an interesting position among sentai: not the most cheery and light sentai, but not, by a long shot, the darkest entry, either. It truly takes its cues from the JidaiGeki tradition. The bitter moments, the moments the characters say "OhCrap", are there so that their victory plays perfectly to the the optimistic, virtuous side of the tradition. The definite epic struggle against the Gedoushu and the Tear Jerkers it brings must be there, or the show's humor and up-beat character work wouldn't work as well.

* RookieRedRanger: [[spoiler: Zigzagged with Kaoru, who fights as well as Takeru does despite joining up towards the end of the series. Justified in that she possibly spent much of her time training and mastering the sealing character while Takeru was acting as the lord. On the other hand, she serves as a slight deconstruction of this trope. Kaoru quickly learns that her stepping in and taking over just like that crippled the existing team's already established and well-built dynamics and morale. Real lord or no, she was not suited to be the leader of this team that have formed around Takeru's leadership, not hers. Her {Jerkass} retainer being even more of a stickler for tradition than her rubbing it in Takeru's face, as well as kicking Genta off the team did not help at all. Thus, she eventually pulls strings to have Takeru reinstated as leader AND as a true heir of the Shiba clan via adoption]].
