* ArtisticLicenceLinguistics: The creators have made a mess of Russian names in Season 3. "Petrovich" and "Petrovna" are not Russian last names. Neither are they first names. These are patronymics (meaning "son of Peter" and "daughter of Peter") and are not used on their own, only after a first name. ("Tatiana Petrovna" is correct but it's not her full name: the full name would be "Tatiana Petrovna Romanova".) What Tommy reads in a book about Russian aristocrats is utter nonsense: no way a Russian person can be named "Petrovich Romanov, Leon". The correct name order would be "Romanov, Leon Petrovich" or "Leon Petrovich Romanov". The situation is made more confusing by the fact that the three family members, Leon, Izabella and Tatiana, all share the same patronymic but are not siblings. Why would their fathers be all named Peter?

### TheBrute: John and Arthur, lampshaded by John's rant about always taking orders from Tommy without being allowed to question them.
### TheDarkChick: Ada, who seems to be working in a "legitimate" position similar to Michael's, but still part of the family business.

* GenericEthnicCrimeGang: The Shelbies and many other members of the Peaky Blinders are Didicoys (people of mixed Romanichal ancestry). They generally downplay their heritage, unlike the Lee gang who are full Romanichals and still live in traditional caravans.

** Polly, maybe you might have considered that giving up the Bolshevik leader to Campbell in exchange for Freddie and Ada's safety wouldn't do any good if said Bolshevik leader can't actually give the police any information? You've just condemned a mostly-innocent man to death.

* WordSaladTitle: ''Peaky Blinders'' can come across this way to Americans who hear the title, since neither "peaky" nor "blinders" are common words for Yankees. But it does make sense in context; the gang members are called 'peaky blinders' because their caps have peaks and they blind people using razor blades concealed in their caps.

* AssassinOutclassin: Subverted in season five when Tommy sends two of his best killers to kill his enemies at an event. Both assassins are killed by unknown masked assailants and Tommy is shocked to discover that the targets were completely unaware of what was going on. Some third party interfered and outclassed his assassins. It is played straight with Arthur, who was only a lookout, but was still attacked. Arthur is luckier and kills his assassin.
