* HateSink: Amber. Though she's far from the most powerful or instrumental person in the rise of [=OxyContin=], she is so [[SmugSnake smug]], self-satisfied, and completely unconcerned about the effects of the drugs. Even when Billy presents her with evidence of the addictiveness of the drugs, she dismisses it and says that the victims "deserved it",and openly makes clear that she doesn't care.

** Dr. Hershel Jick, who once sent a 5-sentence letter to the editor of a medical journal reporting an observation that less than 1% of patients given opiates while hospitalized become addicted. This letter, just an anecdote based on a brief and informal analysis of a tiny data set, was nonetheless touted by Purdue Pharma as a major, rigorous scientific study proclaiming the safety of opioids for the general public as part of their marketing campaign pushing the drugs on doctors and patients, leading to the opioid crisis. When Jick finds out about this years later, he's ''mortified''.

When Jick finds out about this years later, he's ''mortified''.
