** Isabel is still [[spoiler: president of the Cuervos after being elected by the new owners of the Cuervos, the people of Nuevo Toledo and Armando Cantú.]]

* YourCheatingHeart: It's implied that Salvador left Isabel's mother, who he was married to, for the woman who'd become Chava's mother. Then there's the reason for [[spoiler:Moises']] divorce ...

* {{Determinator}}: Chava, Isabels also has her moments, but Chava never lets silly things such as a budget, sponsors or the Directive Board stop his changes.

* OddFriendship: Hugo Sánchez and Moisés in the Ballad of Hugo Sánchez.

* WhereTheHellIsSpringfield: So far, we're not told exactly ''where'' Nuevo Toledo is. The biggest clue we're given is that it's a three hour car ride from Mexico City (in which direction is a mystery), meaning it's most certainly in the heart of Mexico, with some of the candidate states it could be in being ''Guanajuato'', ''Estado de Mexico'', and ''Hidalgo'', but a straight answer is never given. The fact that some of the characters speak with a noticeable Northern Mexican accent does not help matters.

** Hugo Sánchez's halftime speech during the final in The Ballad of Hugo Sánchez is one of the funnier versions of these.

* TheWoobie: Felix, in the span of one season he loses his boss, who was also a good friend of his, and has to deal with the systematic destruction of the team he's been a part of for 25 years, while being blocked either by Chava's idiocy or by Eliseo's intervention [[spoiler: After Chava yells and humiliates him, he regretfully quits as vicepresident]].

* DistractedByTheSexy: Plenty whenever Mary Luz is around, or when there's a woman in the player's locker room.

** El Zombie's [[spoiler: hallucinations of the somewhat terrifying crow Xibalba, which is the name of the Mayan underworld and some of its associated gods,]] in La Balada de Hugo Sánchez foreshadow [[spoiler: his eventual death in the final season]].

** If Tony had just [[spoiler: removed the bullets from the gun his family gave him, Potro wouldn't have been shot and the Cuervos would have probably been saved]].
** If El Zombie (or anyone else) had recognized that [[spoiler: his treatments weren't working]] and he should go to a real doctor at any earlier point in the series [[spoiler: (AND if Zombie actually followed their advice), he probably wouldn't have had so many health problems and died on the pitch]].

** The goodbye between Chava and [[spoiler: Hugo Sanchez after Hugo sacrifices himself to work for Lamas to save the team]].

** Hugo Sanchez is very loyal towards Chava even if he mistreats him.

** El Zombie's [[spoiler: somewhat terrifying hallucinations]] in La Balada de Hugo Sánchez foreshadow [[spoiler: his eventual death in the final season]].
