* EmotionlessGirl: Aki claims to be this, as she's a machine, and it's the main source of her FanDisservice. The jury's out on whether that is actually the case as the show goes on, especially when her demeanor while [[spoiler: masturbating Christopher for a sperm sample]] is later compared to her reaction to him calling her a "sex object".

* EvilIsHammy: Julian. Given that he's the emcee of Blood Drive, that shouldn't be a surprise.
* ExactWords: In episode 1, Arthur makes the Gentleman promise not to kill the cheerleaders he just saved. The Gentleman swears to keep his word "to the letter". Immediately after Arthur leaves, the Gentleman says that he can't take their lives, but that their fingers and tongues are another matter.

* EyeScream: Christopher, courtesy of a bottle to the face during the first episode.

* FanDisservice: Despite being incredibly shapely and not wearing very much in the way of clothing (see MsFanservice below), much of what Dominatrix!Aki does is this, especially the sequence in episode 4 where she went topless [[spoiler: and masturbated Christopher for a sperm sample]].
** Christopher ends up in various states of undress a lot. Unfortunately, a large chunk of it is during his Heart Industries "orientation", where Dominatrix!Aki subjects him to some pretty gruesome treatment. See AssShove above and Aki's own entry in this trope for some "highlights".

* FunWithAcronyms: Aki's name apparently stands for "Autonomous Kinetic Intercourse" machine.

* GoingNative: Arthur's specifically told to act like he's done this to survive the asylum.

* GroinAttack: Arthur gets [[RuleOfThree three of these]] in episode 5: two courtesy of Grace, one self-inflicted. [[spoiler: This seems to temporarily nullify the effects of the Dionysus Strain he was infected with.]]
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler:The Scholar does away with the abusive Gentleman in "The Gentleman's Agreement", and joins forces with Arthur and Grace.]]
* HeelFaceRevolvingDoor: As the series goes on, it's very clear Julian Slink is on the side of Julian Slink.
* HumanoidAbomination: It becomes apparent over time that Slink isn't entirely human, if at all.

* IdiotSavant: The Gentleman's partner/sex-toy, The Scholar. Not very bright, but a mechanical Einstein.

* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: Slink spends episode 3 listening to [[spoiler:Heart Industries higher-ups]] complain about the Blood Drive. Said complaints sound suspiciously like (and considering Blood Drive has a working complaint hotline, may actually be) viewer grievances.

* TheMole: One of the Akis was embedded within Contracrime by Heart Industries, presumably to recruit Christopher.
** [[spoiler: "The Gentleman's Agreement" reveals that Sergeant Gower, Arthur and Christopher's superior at Contracrime, was also working for Heart Industries all along, and was the one responsible for getting Arthur and Christopher into their respective predicaments.]]

* MsFanservice: Both Grace and Aki. Grace has a fondness for [[BareYourMidriff midriff-baring]] ActionGirl [[SleevesAreForWimps tank tops]], while Aki both dresses as a {{dominatrix}} and walks the walk.
* NeckSnap: Christopher kills [[spoiler: Sergeant Gower]] this way.
* NiceHat: Julian sports a very cool top hat. He even has a special box for it, and makes sure to retrieve it after it falls off when he [[spoiler: steps through the Blood Gate to meet with Heart Industries higher-ups]]. The Gentleman dons a cool top hat of his own after [[spoiler: he's made the new emcee of Blood Drive]].
* NippleAndDimed: If Dominatrix!Aki going topless in episode 4 is any indication, none of the Akis have nipples.
* NoSell: Slink shrugs off ''being set on fire''.

* SuperWindowJump: Grace does this in "A Fistful of Blood".

* UnstoppableRage: When Christopher finds out that [[spoiler: Sergeant Gower]] was behind his getting recruited to Heart Industries and Arthur being forced to participate in the Blood Drive, his rage meter (which is handily displayed on the right side of his perspective) hits max and [[spoiler: he [[NeckSnap snaps her neck]]]], seemingly impressing Aki.

* VomitIndiscretionShot: After Aki discovers that Christopher was digging into things he shouldn't, she uses the tech implanted in his eye to make him vomit in several different colors. The show even fakes going to commercial three times, just to show him throwing up more.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: Christopher seems to spend a lot of time in various stages of undress. He's even shirtless in the image above!

* WrongGenreSavvy: Arthur functions and thinks like the protagonist in a PG-13 action flick. It frequently gets him in trouble, as the Blood Drive is anything but.

* StraightGay: The Gentleman and the Scholar.

* LargeHam: When given the chance to play Julian for a bit in episode 5, Arthur brings out his inner ham and lets it run wild.

* PrettyBoy: Arthur, which earns him the nickname "Barbie".
