# Deuteragonist/VideoGames: [[BigBad Dr. James Marcus]] splits the roles of antagonist and tritagonist, with his backstory, the mystery of his death, and the reason for his vengeance against Umbrella kickstarting the events of the game and driving the plot. For an Umbrella scientist, he's [[WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds remarkably sympathetic]], and it's Marcus's actions that cause the events of both the first game and [[ForWantOfANail the rest of the series]]. '''It seems that this character is solely wanting vengeance against a specific organization, which is too calculated, this just seems to be the trope used to mean "sympathetic villain".'''

# TabletopGame/WerewolfTheApocalypse: WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: The Wyrm himself. He originally had the duty of removing the dead or broken parts of the universe, but wasn't really evil. Then he got trapped somehow (the books are [[NoodleIncident rather vague about exactly what happened]]) and went insane, creating most of the bad stuff in the world. '''Creating most of the bad stuff in the world is indiscriminately destructive enough to count'''
# Characters/MarvelComicsShiar: WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: A JerkassWoobie to be sure, because he's fairly horrible to anyone who isn't Deathbird, but he has a truly miserable past. He's also capable of blowing up planets, with this trope being made explicit in an alternate story where he gained the power of the Phoenix Force. '''This entry seems to be written as though he doesn't qualify for the "destroyer of worlds" part of the trope in main canon even though he's physically capable of it, but he doesn't in an AU story, so I put this as counting even though I'm unsure whether him destroying planets is directly a result of/motivated by his miserable past.'''
# Film/TheStepfather: WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: The stepfather, in the original at least. The man ''desperately'' wants a family of his own. (context: PaterFamilicide: When he snaps, the Stepfather wipes out everyone, from wife to children to any other relatives unfortunate enough to be in the house at the time.) '''Would be in the ambiguous category because of the entry focusing only on the "woobie" part were it not for the context of the other entry which shows he counts as being AxCrazy/attacking indiscriminately.'''

# VideoGame/SpiritsOfMystery: WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: Princess Mortis as revealed in the bonus chapter. [[spoiler: She desperately wants to be with Isa after what happened in The Dark Minotaur and is willing to destroy the boundaries between life and death if it means getting to be with him again.]] '''Destroying the boundaries between life and death is destructive enough to count, but notably she is hoping to relieve her suffering from it (by being reunited with Isa) rather than just lashing out.'''

to:

# Characters/BattleForDreamIslandOriginalContestants: WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: He might have abandoned his team, but considering the fact that he was used by WOAH Bunch to escape Evil Canyon, was impaled on spikes, and burned alive along with Needle, it is no wonder that he snapped. WOAH Bunch did not even apologize to him for it. '''Abandoning your team does not count as nearly the level of destruction needed for this trope.'''
# FaceHeelTurn/MarvelUniverse: Even though he always had a knack for mischief, Loki UsedToBeASweetKid, and it is implied that for centuries before the events of ''Film/{{Thor}}'' he was TheLancer who fought alongside his brother. It is his act of letting Jötunns into Asgard on Thor's coronation day that started him SlowlySlippingIntoEvil, and the following [[TheReveal Reveal]] of his troubled ancestry [[WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds exacerbated the matter]]. Loki spends his next several appearances on the HeelFaceRevolvingDoor before finally [[spoiler: pulling a HeelFaceTurn [[RedemptionEqualsDeath right before being killed by Thanos.]] His AlternateSelf from the 2012 timeline opened in ''Film/AvengersEndgame'' is still alive, but didn’t perform his HeelFaceTurn until [[Series/Loki2021 his self-titled series]].]] '''Another entry that focuses on explaining the "wobble" part but never clarifies the "destroyer of worlds" besides a general sense that he is a villain.'''
# YMMV/Haven: BrokenBase: Charlotte, [[spoiler: Audrey/Mara's mother]], caused this with her general demeanor as well as her treatment of her daughter. She's the one who sent her fighting [[spoiler: the troubles]] in Haven, as it should have provided a cure both to her daughter, who was turning into a WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds at the time, and the townspeople of Haven, whom she'd wronged. Too bad it came at the price of MindRape on a previously innocent woman who was severely traumatized and shortly became much worse because of it, undoing part of the good she'd meant to do. Add to that the fact that while purely well-intentionned, hard-working brave and brainy, she's also manipulative, condescending and an [[spoiler:adept practitioner of the MercyKill]], and you have one of the most controversial characters in the series. '''This is just a pothole without clarifying ''why'' her daughter qualifies as a WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds.'''
# Recap/StarTrekTheNextGenerationS1E22SkinOfEvil: WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: Armus, rejected and bereft by a species that just abandoned him and left him alone. '''Another entry that explains the "woobie" part but fails to explain the "destroyer of worlds".'''
# Literature/Cityverse: WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: Some of the Lost Cities, with the tragedies that drove them into despair and hatred, could qualify for this. [[http://thecitysmith.tumblr.com/post/51489019411/prouvairet-paris-burning-rami-malek-as-el El Dorado]], [[http://thecitysmith.tumblr.com/post/62630699004/fun-fact-53 Knossos]], and [[http://thecitysmith.tumblr.com/post/60577908608/pontmercings-paris-burning-oona-chaplin-as Pompeii]] come to mind. '''Again, not clear what they are ''doing'' that is threatening others, instead there is just "despair and hatred".'''
# Woobie/TheVampireDiaries: Elena. The SHOW seems to be about how many more times can life put her through the meat grinder. She can't seem to go a single day without herself or somebody she cares about being hurt, killed, or under threat by some supernatural being ever since the first episode, she has 2 boyfriends that endlessly fight over her that she's constantly conflicted about, she's too compassionate to just blow off anybody who's suffering so she ends up putting herself in even MORE trouble, and to top it all off she has serious loss and abandonment issues. Elena crosses into WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds territory once she becomes a vampire and turns her emotions off. '''Does not explain exactly what bad things she does when she becomes a vampire.'''
# Literature/TheMule: The Mule is a mutant with powerful [[PsychicPowers psychic abilities]]... but they also come with a hefty dose of physical inferiority, leading to an aggressive personality angry at the society which used to [[AllOfTheOtherReindeer scorn him as a child]] and [[FreudianExcuse capable of repaying it]]. This leads to him becoming a GalacticConquerer and WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds. '''He conquers galaxies apparently but that's different from destroying them, and it's not clear if he's solely doing it to hurt indiscriminately out of his anger for the world or if he has some other goal but the anger is still a partial motivation.'''
# Characters/TheRiseOfDarkVulcan: WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: After just how badly Cirrus and Hilltop screwed them over, you really can't blame them for indirectly invoking RoaringRampageOfRevenge via Vulcan [[note]]And even then, they initially just ask for simple justice until Chrysalis, sensing their SuppressedRage and sympathizing with them, spurs them on. # Anime/NadiaTheSecretOfBlueWater: WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: [[spoiler: Nadia and Neo are brainwashed by Gargoyle into becoming [=WMD=]s to reduce everything to rubble and seize power for himself. Neo has to be essentially blown up to lift off the brainwashing and sacrifices his own life to lift Nadia's on his father's wishes. This is very poignant, given

# Recap/StarTrekTheNextGenerationS3E9TheVengeanceFactor: WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: Yuta doesn't come across as an evil person by any means, just someone who is literally unable to want anything other than to kill all the remaining Lornaks. '''It's never explained how Yuta has suffered such that she is "unable to want anything other than to kill them", in fact it's written as if it's not about suffering and just about her not having free will, though I'm not 100% sure so not putting it in that category'''
# RaiseHimRightThisTime: When Valgaav, the half-demon, half-dragon and 100% OmnicidalManiac and WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds from ''Literature/{{Slayers}}'' TRY is defeated, he is transformed to a dragon egg, which is entrusted to Filia to re-raise Valgaav as a good dragon. Last time he's seen, the egg is lovingly placed in a basket arranged as an impromptu baby cot while Filia and Valgaav's two followers work. '''A contextless link to this trope, he is an OmnicidalManiac so he qualifies for the "threatening indiscriminately", though it's never explained how he fits the suffering part.'''

# Characters/DemonLegacy: GodIsEvil: Though an unusual WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds variant. He created the Demi-Gods and loved them as well as humanity, but was betrayed by them and split into a good and evil half by Apollo, who sealed the evil half in the Firebrand sword. Because of this, he sought vengeance on those who cast him away, and wants to [[OmnicidalManiac devour the world]]. '''Is an OmnicidalManiac, so he counts.'''
# Characters/AnimatorVsAnimationAdversaries: WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: Why does he attempt to destroy Minecraft? His son got into a fatal accident involving a Minecraft simulation. As a result, he ends up using every trick from the game to destroy it, especially with ''two'' all-powerful Master Blocks in hand. '''I'm assuming here that Minecraft is not just a video game here but counts as a whole world he is destroying, so he qualifies.'''
# Characters/PowerRangersDinoFury: WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: The reveal of just ''why'' she's got a mad-on for humanity turns her into one. She and Tarrick were Rafkonians who landed on Earth to look for supplies, were found by the government and interred in Area 62 along with their newborn baby. One day, a disaster went off and they tried getting their daughter to safety, only to presume she was lost in the destruction, which caused the injuries that required Tarrick to put Santaura in stasis. '''Not entirely sure of this one since while all of the entries on this character's page say she hates humanity, I don't think it's explicitly stated that she is trying to KillAllHumans (and I haven't watched this), though it is probably implied so I'm putting it in this category rather than the unclear one for now. Again just hating humans because of a tragic past if you aren't trying to kill everyone would just be TragicBigot.'''
# VideoGame/ShadowWarrior2013: SlidingScaleOfAntiVillains: Of the WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds kind, [[spoiler:Hoji]] caused the near-destruction of the shadow realm by [[spoiler:poisoning his sister/lover out of heartbreak and revenge. Said sister/lover had promised to stay by his side, but left him after he was horribly disfigured as punishment for causing a drought in the Shadow Realm, as her tears of sadness nourish it with rain - and him being with her stopped the tears.]] '''Counts, even though he was only trying to hurt/kill one person directly the effects of this were apparently risking the destruction of a whole realm.'''

'''The idea is that the character's suffering due to society is ended due to the destruction of society, which is like a more mild version of actually causing the apocalypse to end your suffering.'''
# AssimilationPlot: * Personal motive. # JerkassWoobie: Contrast WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds, where a tragic but less cruel character destroys everything around them because [[DespairEventHorizon they have already been broken]]. The Jerkass Woobie's cruel acts are generally not a result of him being broken and his suffering may even come after he has sinned. Not to be confused with PutThemAllOutOfMyMisery, where a sympathetic villain seeks large scale destruction out of a desire to end misery. See also DracoInLeatherPants, where one of these happens accidentally, and KarmicOverkill, where audiences feel that the character ''did'' deserve to be punished for their actions, but the comeuppance they received is still seen as excessive. '''Clearly defines the trope in opposition to WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds as the character being motivated to end their suffering, whereas WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds doesn't expect their suffering to end but is too broken to care.'''
# GrewBeyondTheirProgramming: * ''WesternAnimation/GreenLanternTheAnimatedSeries'' has the robot Aya developing human emotions as a key plot point. [[spoiler:Subverted as the crucial twist of the entire series: Aya was not completely robotic and was actually made with a sliver of a living being of pure will. This puts a damper of her PutThemAllOutOfMyMisery plot to [[GrandfatherParadox unmake all organic life]].]] '''Technically contextless so I have to put it in unsure, though the fact that her plan was due to her lack of human emotions and said emotions interfering with it implies it's more likely to be of rational self-interest than spite.'''

* At first appearing to be an ordinary mall Santa at a Macy's in Manhattan, Kris Kringle got everyone's attention with his insistence that he in fact truly was Santa Claus. Many challenged his claims and believed him to be delusional, especially the psychiatrist Mr. Sawyer, who tried to have him committed. He was saved by a legal trial in which his defense attorney, Fred Gailey, used the defense that he might actually be Santa Claus - which, despite sounding ridiculous to everyone involved, worked.
* After the great publicity his trial garnered, Kris was soon getting letters to Santa Claus from kids all over the country. one such letter claimed to be from a place called the Pantheon, who apparently wanted him to show up and talk to the children there so he could be a Santa for an event there. When he got there, he was ascended as a god due to him perfectly representing someone whose identity as Santa Claus was ambiguous.
* No one in the pantheon can agree on whether he really is Santa either. Kris Kringle finds it ridiculous that there would be any doubt anymore, because unlike his own world the pantheon is filled with people with fantastic abilities and stories, but plenty of deities also come from worlds where there is no Santa Claus and he very idea of him existing is ridiculous, and just because something's possible in one world doesn't mean it's possible in another. Some people have tried to use as evidence against him that there already is a Santa Claus in the pantheon, but Santa himself pointed out that there are many Santas throughout fiction and the identity he takes the form of in the Pantheon is not the only one in existence, so him being there doesn't mean anything. Upon actually meeting the supposed impostor, Santa found the two were naturally very similar, and the children of the pantheon are happy to have two Santas giving presents to them on Christmas!
* As for Nicholas St. North, the other Santa in the Pantheon, Kris Kringle isn't that happy about having a tough and intimidating Santa around when he himself has been accused of being [[InsaneEqualsViolent violent]], and feels that the ideal Santa should be gentle and approachable. However, he does see Nicholas is a good person who truly has the spirit of Christmas in his heart, and thus still ultimately respects him. And it's not like Kringle doesn't have a [[BewareTheNiceOnes backbone]] when the time calls for it either.
* He spends lots of time in the House of Childhood and Adolescence, asking the children what they want and seeming to have an uncanny ability to predict what they want from just a little knowledge of them. He is unfazed by even the scarier children who some people think are evil, which some point to as evidence that he is a more powerful god than he appears to be so he faces no physical threat from them - or it could just mean he sees the good in everyone.
* He pays particular attention to the children who had a horrible life and haven't had much chance to know love and kind gifts. Kris Kringle eventually befriended the Baudelaire Orphans despite their earned distrust of adults in their life and initial thought that this man pretending to be Santa Claus was ridiculous, especially winning them over by getting Klaus books that he likes and Violet access to a far wider variety of tools to [[GadgeteerGenius invent things with]] than the limited things she had to make do with before. They are especially impressed that, in addition to. Just as he can understand the languages of children he talks to, he's also, to the siblings' surprise, capable of understanding Sunny's BabyTalk.
* Similarly, he also greatly sympathized with Seita and Setsuko's story and how going through a war left them with nothing and led to their eventual deaths, and always pays special attention to them and gives them lots of gifts to ensure they will never be deprived like that instead. Seita sometimes says he doesn't deserve Kris's care for him because it was his fault he and his sister died, and Kris Kringle responds that he wants the world to be a good enough place that a child does not feel they ''need'' to be perfect to deserve life and joy.
* Some lawyer deities in the pantheon were not impressed by how Kris Kringle won his case, citing the large amount of [[ArtisticLicenseLaw blatant legal inaccuracies]], and have suggested that the Pantheon should re-litigate the whole matter. Harvey Birdman jumped at the chance to be his defense attorney, saying that he's handled far crazier than Kringle's case. The Wright Everything Agency also showed interest in his case. He was a bit leery of Athena Cykes for her use of analytical psychology, knowing how a psychiatrist tried to use his expertise as a smokescreen to justify institutionalizing him, but due to Athena's ability to sense emotions she can tell he is a genuinely kind person who is certainly not InsaneEqualsViolent and definitely shouldn't be institutionalized - even as her powers aren't enough to tell her whether he is really Santa Claus or not.
* As for the other psychologists and psychiatrists in the pantheon... Kris Kringle has a complicated relationship with Frasier Crane. As he has said before, he greatly admires psychiatry as a field, but doesn't like when people use it as an excuse to pathologize everything, even good, noble qualities like altruism, and mistreat the mentally ill. While Frasier initially reminded him of Mr. Sawyer with his arrogance about his intelligence and psychological skill, leading to Kringle strongly distrusting him, he has become, if not friendly, at least more understanding of Frasier over time as Kris grew to realize Frasier wasn't truly cynical about any good humans can do the way Sawyer is. Though he does have to sometimes sit through Frasier wondering what in his childhood made him identify so strongly with Santa Claus...
* He empathizes deeply with Edward Scissorhands for how, like Kris Kringle himself, he was judged as being violent and someone who should be separated from society [[NotEvilJustMisunderstood despite his kindness and good intentions.]] Edward inspired him to make it a mission to defend those who are misunderstood and made out to be threats or someone who should be locked away, and [[BewareTheNiceOnes you have better not get in his way]]. Kringle is impressed by his sculptures and makes sure to deliver him supplies for Christmas to make bigger and better ones.
* Dexter has a track record for being skeptical of Santa's existence and trying to disprove it, and while he has learned his lesson that some Santas really exist both in his own world and in the Pantheon, he is still scientifically rigorous enough to know that doesn't mean ''all'' Santas are real! Therefore he has sometimes made efforts to try and determine once and for all if Kris is really Santa, though this time he has tried to be less violent and abrasive about it than he used to be when he encountered Santa in his own story. He can still be a bit forceful about it, though, but Kris Kringle seems to have a lot of patience for his antics - after all, however smart he is, Dexter is just a kid and Kris always wants to give children a chance to explore their curiosity and do what he loves. He doesn't see Dexter as the same noxious type of person as the others who have tried to disprove him.
* Nurse Ratched, on the other hand, is exactly the kind of person he hates, and the feeling is mutual. After hearing about how he once struck a person with an umbrella, Ratched quickly decided that it was a mistake not to have institutionalized him, and she has been crusading throughout the Pantheon trying to get everyone else to agree. To her frustration, despite the confusion about his identity he seems to be mostly loved by other members of the Pantheon, and she just doesn't get it - why can't they see that he is clearly insane and violent, just because there is all sorts of ludicrous fantasy nonsense in the Pantheon doesn't mean that that should just be accepted! Don't the violently crazy people constantly threatening the Pantheon prove that everyone shouldn't just accept him? Kris Kringle, for his own part, is very disappointed that even here, he can find people like her that think this way, and has tried to defend himself without getting too angry in a way she would interpret as proving her point (though it's very hard, since she is such a horrible person).
* Scrooge [=McDuck=] has had a complicated relationship with Santa in his world, but eventually reconciled with him. He and Kris Kringle had a conversation about their thoughts on Christmas - Kringle understands and sympathizes with how he would think coal is a practical gift rather than a punishment, and knows there is value in practical things. But in the end, he feels that's not his job or place in the world, his place is to allow children to be children and achieve their wildest dreams, and it's this kind of attitude of wanting to remove the whimsy from society that lead to people wanting to put him in an institution and get rid of him. Allowing yourself to believe in something can be helpful, as he saw with Doris Walker. But Kris Kringle respects him (although he wishes he would stop being as concerned with making money); it's clear he does care about Christmas and making people happy in the end, and in turn has a lot of respect for him and the other Santas in the pantheon.

It turns out that Hoa had figured out a way to bring her back to life without turning her fully into a Stone Eater and thus risking her losing her memories and identity - reviving her as a god in the pantheon instead. She is very surprised to be alive and fascinated to hear about all of the other worlds different gods came from, places where apocalyptic natural disasters aren't a constant.
* Born into a world where the earth itself is angry at its inhabitants and the people living there had to prepare themselves for world-altering disasters called "fifth seasons" where geologic activity caused long-lasting ash clouds in the sky with resulting cold temperatures and starvation every few centuries, Essun had to also deal with being an orogene, a group of people Randomly Gifted with (or sometimes inheriting) powers that allowed them to control geologic activity themselves. Orogenes are seen as agents of the evil Earth itself who are at best to be controlled and treated as less than human and at worst to be killed as soon as one is identified. Initially trained by the Fulcrum of the Sanze empire to user her power for government-sanctioned purposes, her mentor and SuperBreedingProgram partner Alabaster helped her realize that orogenes were still treated as less than human even there, and the two escaped but were later separated when the Guardians of the fulcrum came to capture them again. She made a new life with a family that did not know of her orogeny, but eventually her past caught up to her when her husband, Jija, killed their son Uche in a rage at discovering his powers and kidnapped their daughter, Nassun. With [[TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt a season far more powerful and dangerous than normal]] going on at the same time, she set out to find her daughter, but instead ended up embroiled in a SecretWar where she was sought after for having the power to use the Obelisk Gate, with which she could bring the lost moon back to the Earth to placate it and end the seasons forever.
* She very must distrusts and fears Gaea, knowing how the earth in her world is aggressive and cruel and was responsible for a lot of the suffering in her world. She doubts Gaea's claims to care about protecting the planet from things like pollution - no matter how much life on Gaea gets killed, the planet herself will be fine, so why should she care about something that doesn't affect her?
* Has a complicated relationship with the house of Family and Relatives. She hates people like Ozai who abuse their children, though he has argued that she is no better with how cruel she was to Nassun in training her to control her orogeny, even breaking her hand like the Fulcrum did to Essun herself. Essun insists that it's different, that she had to do that to protect her when revealing her powers would get her killed, but deep down she isn't so sure of that, and regrets what she's done to her daughter. She relates to Medea with how they both killed their own children to supposedly protect them, though Essun never is fully kind to her because she is always suspicious Medea's motives were really just about spite for her husband. However she did get along very well with Sethe, with them having very similar stories of being exploited by others and believing the only way to save their child from this was to kill them.
* Tends to agree with Magneto in his philosophy that people with powers can't peacefully coexist with those who discriminate against them, and is opposed to Professor X as a result, though she has respect for how he tries to do things the idealistic way, anyway; it reminds her of Ykka from her own world. She just thinks the whole thing is horribly deluded in the end. When she found out from them about William Stryker being in the pantheon she was not happy, recognizing in his rhetoric the things she has heard in her own world.
* Despite his attempts to claim he is different from Stryker and would never go as far, Essun is not and will never be convinced Copen Kamizono is any different. If he were really just about attacking individual people with powers who are bad, he wouldn't blame all of them - their humanity and right to not be just a category should be non-negotiable.
* She has a lot of sympathy for Ultimecia for how she felt she was driven to her actions due to being persecuted for her powers, while she herself ultimately wouldn't go as far as threatening the world or dooming it by inaction despite some of the Stone Eaters around her assuming she would, she can understand very well why someone who felt the world's dehumanization of them gave them no other choice would act in the way she did.
* Is very curious about the lunar-related deities due to how her world didn't have a moon and hadn't for many millennia. She ended up striking friendships with Princess Luna, Usage Tsukino, and Selene. Luna in particular loves how Essun really appreciates just how important the moon is given how she's had a history of others not appreciating it.
* She tried starting a conversation with Moon Man once, thinking he was another lunar deity, only to find he despised her for having dark-colored skin. Essun has never encountered that particular kind of bigotry, but his attitude is very familiar given all the discrimination she's faced in her own life, so she hates him and anyone like him.
* She immediately tried to act as a mother and mentor figure to Toph Beifong, seeing as they have similar powers and she reminds Essun of her own daughter who's around the same age. The feeling doesn't seem to be mutual, though - Toph just sees Essun as another controlling parent figure trying to tell her what to do and make her suppress who she is to "protect" herself.
* She and Remus Lupin relate to each other in how he has been discriminated against for being a werewolf, similarly to her, though like Professor X he finds her cynicism off-putting and overly gloomy. When she heard about Fenrir Grayback, she initially was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, knowing that in her world orogenes like Misalem who were remembered as evil and fully embracing the stereotypes of causing destruction with their powers were actually victims of a HistoricalVillainUpgrade, but she's yet to see any sign he's not what everyone says he is. Though she still remains skeptical, she doesn't like him because of him [[StopBeingStereotypical fitting and encouraging the stereotypes]].
* Anti-Mage terrifies her with his power to resist and drain magic and his mission to track down and kill magic users, because he reminds her too much of the Guardians from her own world, who had similar AntiMagic powers and implacability in hunting down and controlling or killing orogenes, and she's suffered a lot of trauma at their hands. She fears Tirek for the same reason, knowing he could easily drain her powers and leave her helpless, though she doesn't have the same visceral hatred for him as she does for Anti-Mage since he's not doing it out of any sort of bigotry.
* She spends a lot of time in the house of Magic and Sorcery, getting a chance to learn how magic works in all of the worlds different members of the Pantheon hail from. She's never had the curiosity and skill of understanding such things that Alabaster did, but for his sake she wants to be able to understand how it works - and for pragmatic reasons, if she has to defend herself. She's even surprised that magic is such a common term in these worlds, because in hers it was an ancient term for the energy that underpinned orogeny that was lost in modern times, which she had to learn to understand to harness the Obelisk Gate. She was quite interested in Edward Elric's claims that his universe's alchemy was a kind of science, and talked to him quite a bit about it, with Essun herself sharing what she knows of how it works in her world. She thinks he's a considerably less frustrating teacher than Alabaster was. She has also talked to Albus Dumbledore about the magic in his world, though she doesn't find him entirely trustworthy with how he always seems to be planning something and acting like a paternalistic teacher.
* Essun has formed a strong bond with Joel, as the two have found they are similar in many ways - both are practical, cynical people who have used their skills to survive an apocalypse, and are protective of their children owing to having lost a child (two, in Essun's case) in the past in a horrific manner. Being cynical about anyone who tries to sell her on making grand sacrifices to save the world when that world has oppressed and used her for her whole life, she is one of the people who completely agrees with Joel about being willing to kill the Fireflies and sabotage the cure to save Ellie, and she'll defend him from anyone who tries to criticize him for it. For her own part, while she was willing to sacrifice her own life to save the world she couldn't, in the end, bear to let her daughter die even if it meant she "won".

in Manhattan, Kris Kringle got everyone's attention with his insistence the Pantheon after being killed by Tosca, and initially thought he was in some kind of heaven. "Well", he thought, I know I've gone a bit astray from God by lusting after someone, but perhaps He sees I am better than those interlopers making a puppet government for the French". He soon was very pleased to find out that he in fact truly was Santa Claus. Many challenged had been chosen for the Pantheon ''because'' of his claims and believed him to be delusional, especially the psychiatrist Mr. Sawyer, who tried action of threatening Cavaradossi to have him committed. He was saved Tosca for himself]], and is very happy to have earned such a holy and powerful position and thus avoid the embarrassment of having been killed by a legal trial in which his defense attorney, Fred Gailey, used the defense that he might actually be Santa Claus - which, despite sounding ridiculous to everyone involved, worked.intended victim.
Upon actually meeting the supposed impostor, Santa found the two were
He naturally very similar, hates Napoleon Bonaparte, given how he waged war on Rome and was responsible for setting up the children of puppet republic Scarpia tried to repress, and winning the pantheon are happy to have two Santas giving presents to them on Christmas!
* As for Nicholas St. North, the
battle of Marengo so that that republic would be restored despite all of his efforts. While other Santa in deities, some of whom have their own gripes with the Pantheon, Kris Kringle isn't emperor, might have been able to sympathize with Scarpia dislike of a foreign occupier, he loses a lot of sympathy with his disgust for republican government in general. In his opinion, such a government would only ever exist in Rome because of a foreign occupier; only idiots like Cavaradossi would ever willingly want one. He also despises the likes of Lady Oscar. To him, she's just the typical violent and monstrous revolutionary breed that happy about having a tough comes from France and intimidating Santa around when he himself has been accused sends states like his into war, not to mention the depravity of being [[InsaneEqualsViolent violent]], and feels that the ideal Santa should be gentle and approachable. However, he does see Nicholas is a good person woman who truly has the spirit of Christmas in his heart, and thus still ultimately respects him. And it's not acts like Kringle doesn't have a [[BewareTheNiceOnes backbone]] when the time calls for it either.
* He spends lots of time in the House of Childhood
and Adolescence, asking the children what they want and seeming was raised like a man! He certainly wouldn't mind forcing her to have an uncanny ability sleep with him too, if he can only find someone to predict what they want from just a little knowledge of them. He is unfazed by even the scarier children who some people think are evil, which some point threaten to make it happen; not so much because he's interested in her sexually as evidence that he is a more powerful god than he appears to be so he faces no physical threat from them - or it could just mean he sees the good in everyone.wants her to know her place.
* He pays particular attention Thelma and Louise heard of his and Tosca's story and sympathized a lot with Tosca, as like them she had killed a man who intended to rape her but found herself pursued by the children who authorities as a result, ultimately killing herself because she had no escape. As a horrible life and haven't had much chance result, they hate Scarpia and, while to know love and kind gifts. Kris Kringle eventually befriended the Baudelaire Orphans despite their earned distrust of adults frustration they can't kill him permanently in their the Pantheon, they do whatever they can to make his life as hard as possible, pulling various nasty pranks on him and initial thought that this man pretending to be Santa Claus was ridiculous, especially winning them over by getting Klaus books always hounding him. On Scarpia's part, he regrets only that he likes and Violet gave Tosca access to a far wider variety of tools to [[GadgeteerGenius invent things with]] than the limited things knife that she had could kill him with, and wants to make do with before. They are especially impressed that, in addition to. Just as find a way to get nuisances like them alone and helpless so he can understand the languages of children he talks to, he's also, to the siblings' surprise, capable of understanding Sunny's BabyTalk.
* Similarly, he also greatly sympathized with Seita and Setsuko's story and how going through a war left
torture them with nothing in some way and led to their eventual deaths, and always pays special attention to them and gives them lots of gifts to ensure they will never be deprived like that instead. Seita sometimes says not repeat the same mistake (though he doesn't deserve Kris's care for him because it was his fault he have any interest in them sexually; they aren't pure and his sister died, and Kris Kringle responds that he wants the world to be a good pious enough place that a child does not feel they ''need'' to be perfect to deserve life and joy.don't have quite the right intriguing balance of gentleness and rebellion in his opinion).
* Some lawyer As for the deities in he actually does lust after: what fascinated him about Tosca was her piety and the pantheon were not impressed religious aesthetic, and he's found a similar thing to admire in Jean d'Arc, a woman who is driven by her visions she believed to be from God. He can't get over the idea of that purity combined with the vision and drive. Likewise, he was very intrigued to discover how Kris Kringle won in some worlds, they had the concept of a "white mage" dedicated to healing and full of piety and purity, and particularly by the trope's Pantheon representative Aerith. Unfortunately, he underestimated her ability to be more than just passive, and that her specialization in healing didn't leave her completely helpless to defend herself, so he ended up getting pretty badly injured for his case, citing the large amount of [[ArtisticLicenseLaw blatant legal inaccuracies]], and have suggested troubles. Ever since it's a frustration to him that the Pantheon should re-litigate the whole matter. Harvey Birdman jumped at the chance to be his defense attorney, saying that he's handled far crazier is filled with gods so much more physically powerful than Kringle's case.
* As for
the other psychologists and psychiatrists in the pantheon...

When she found out from them about William Stryker being in the pantheon she was not happy, recognizing in his rhetoric the things she has heard in her own world.
* Despite his attempts to claim he is different from Stryker and would never go as far, Essun is not and will never be convinced Copen Kamizono is any different. If he were really just about attacking individual people with powers who
are bad, he wouldn't blame all of them - their humanity and right to not be just a category should be non-negotiable.
* She has a lot of sympathy for Ultimecia for how she felt she was driven to her actions due to being
unfairly persecuted by other deities for her powers, pursuing the lust they have, in their minds, a perfect right to pursue. Though their relationship isn't without it's difficulties; while she herself ultimately wouldn't go as far as threatening both value the world or dooming importance of religious purity, Frollo is a bit disgusted by Scarpia's shamelessness in pursuing someone ''for'' her piety. All he himself did, after all, is pursue a temptress who asked for it by inaction despite some of the Stone Eaters around her assuming she would, she can understand very well why being from an inherently uncouth ethnic group, but it seems a little disrespectful even to him to go after someone who felt the world's dehumanization of them gave them no other choice would act in the way she did.
Essun has never encountered that particular kind of bigotry, but
clearly isn't forcing his attitude is very familiar given all the discrimination she's faced in her own life, so she hates him and anyone like him.
For her own part, while she was willing to sacrifice her own life to save the world she couldn't,
hand. But in the end, bear to let her daughter die even if it meant she "won".an ally is an ally, and he's the only one who understands there are worse sins than following a desire that God made inevitable anyway.

Suggestions:

In the episode "Dexter vs. Santa's Claws", [[Pantheon/{{Science}} Dexter]] doesn't believe in Santa and believes it's just his dad in a costume. He tries to violently confront Santa to prove his point (like trying to rip out his beard) but it turns out this Santa is real. Perhaps Dexter would want to try to prove Kris is not Santa to "prove his smartness" but would be more or less forceful about it.
Nurse Ratched is a cruel head nurse who works in a mental institution. Maybe after hearing about Kris's case and how he strike Sawyer with an umbrella, [[Pantheon/{{Physicians}} Ratched]] would be unsympathetic to Kris and want to have him committed as well.
The Santa [[Pantheon/{{Commerce}} Scrooge]] knows is a version of Santa; he's a polar bear and the show had a running gag where he states he hated Santa and never explained why until is revealed in the episode "How Santa Stole Christmas!" why he hated Santa (which is what WhirlRX said). It's less about a character meeting Kris Kringle (from the movie) or an expy of Kris Kringle. It's more about meeting someone as altruistic as Kris Kringle who doesn't share the same commercialistic mindset as Scrooge was at the time. Scrooge learns his lesson tho and made up with his Santa. He would likely be friends with Kris and sharing him this story and hearing Kris's story. I would recommend looking into the episode itself in other wikis for more information.

Some relationship ideas I might be looking for (feel free to suggest deities who can fit this):

Notes: He hates commercialization of Christmas, maybe there are some commercialist/capitalist type deities he could oppose? Maybe people who were [[NotEvilJustMisunderstood thought of as violent and evil when they weren't]] for the way people tried to frame him as a violent madman who had to be locked up for his one BewareTheNiceOnes moment? Mr. Sawyer believed there's no such thing as altruism and people only act that way for a pathological reason, maybe characters with similar outlooks he can oppose? Or SecretlySelfish deities who he doesn't like for making genuinely selfless people look bad? (I've seen the god we have for SecretlySelfish and I'm not sure how I could make them interact because even not taking into account hidden selfish motivations he wants to get rid of free will which looks evil from the start, I'm looking more for someone who genuinely seems nice. I mentioned other lawyer deities who much look negatively on him "only getting off through CourtroomAntics and ArtisticLicenseLaw", does anyone have any examples of deities who might hold this view?

# GoldenEnding: ''Webcomic/KillSixBillionDemons'': It is increasingly heavily implied that the events of the series [[spoiler:are simply one more iteration of a GroundhogDayLoop where [[BigGood Zoss]] keeps resetting time in a desperate attempt to get the Golden Ending where [[TheChosenOne his chosen heir]] manages to defeat [[BigBadEnsemble the Seven]], free the Multiverse from their tyranny, and restore Throne to its former glory. Unfortunately, beings like Jagganoth and the Throne Knights have RippleEffectProofMemory and the experience of the timeline constantly resetting has understandably driven them over the DespairEventHorizon, convincing them that the only way to [[PutThemAllOutOfMyMisery put an end to their eternally-recurring suffering]] is to destroy everything so thoroughly that Zoss can't reset it anymore.]] '''The characters actually believe that destroying everything is the only way for them to die due to the resets.'''

In addition, this character is the god of the trope and it's listed under ActsOfHatred, while as the trope is defined it's not really about hatred, which would be more WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds, but about a "rational" but selfish desire to end one's suffering regardless of who else suffers in the process, though some of the subtypes do involve also hating the thing that is causing the suffering and that being part of the motivation, hatred isn't a requirement so it seems odd to put it in that category.'''

Sadly, the attempt to kill her falls flat as his Scales of Juno powers are insufficient, but even I-No admitted that Ky momentarily put her on the ropes. Belial makes no attempt to dispute the idea, which paints his [[OmnicidalManiac attempted destruction of the universe]] in a [[TakingYouWithMe rather different light..]] '''Unclear if he is consciously choosing to be resurrected even if it means he suffers more out of spite, with his attempted destruction of the universe having the "bonus" effect of killing him but he could easily choose to die otherwise, or if he is resurrected against his will due to his grudge and destroying the universe is the only way he can die for real.'''

* Scrooge McDuck has had a complicated relationship with Santa in his world, but eventually reconciled with him.
