Alongside his bodyguard Jack Campbell, Swann instantly deduces Betruger is the mastermind behind the demonic invasion and seeks to prevent the forces of Hell from reaching Earth no matter the cost. Swann has Campbell destroy all outside communication preventing the UAC Fleet from arriving and being ambushed by the demons, all the while [[TheNeedsOfTheMany condemning any survivors]] to certain death. When the Marine comes to manually send out a signal, Swann reveals his motives to turn the Marine to his side and orders him to destroy the man made portal in Delta Labs. Ultimately mortally wounded, Swann has the Marine take up his mission to destroy the main portal to Hell and succeed in driving back the demonic threat.

When Lissandra has a vision about the Vulcan Stone pieces being located in the Underworld, Hermes agrees to help her by acting as [[TheMole a spy]] within the dwarven expedition and getting the party to obtain the stone pieces, which he hands over to her. Hermes then betrays Lissandra by telling the party her next location, causing them to recover the completed stone just before she can wish for Typhus's resurrection. When Lissandra takes back the stone, Hermes declares his wish first and destroys the stone, knowing that doing so [[HeroicSacrifice will curse him to become a demon]]. Hermes then attempts to seal himself away to avoid killing anyone, and when the party and his sister chase him down anyways, he holds back his demonic impulses so that they can MercyKill him.

When Mustache Girl steals the Time Pieces to judge everyone, the directors put aside their differences and [[HeroicSacrifice sacrifice themselves to help Hat Kid defeat her]] and, when brought back, beg Hat Kid to stay on the planet and remain their friend.
